  • Navigating Coquitlam River 2024 : Trans Canada Trail & Traboulay PoCo Trail
Embarking on a cycling adventure along the scenic Coquitlam River in British Columbia proved to be a journey filled with breathtaking views, thrilling descents, and unexpected delights. Our cycling escapade kicked off at the crossroads of Lincoln Avenue and Kensal Place in Coquitlam, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience.
As we navigated down the steep embankment leading to Ecole Westwood Elementary, the anticipation for the adventure ahead grew. The Coquitlam River beckoned, and with a sense of excitement, we turned left, pedaling our way northbound along the enchanting Coquitlam River Trail.
The trail unfolded like a hidden gem, weaving through lush landscapes and offering glimpses of the tranquil river. Our wheels carried us onto David Avenue, where we crossed the Eleanor Ward Bridge, the rhythmic clatter of our bikes echoing against the backdrop of flowing water. Once on the other side, we eagerly dove back into the trails, this time heading southbound.
From the cul-de-sac of David Place, a surprise awaited us - a swing rope, perfectly positioned at the water's edge. Thrills and laughter ensued as we took turns swinging above the river, feeling like carefree adventurers in a secret playground. The joyous detour injected a playful spirit into our journey.
Our next stop was the serene Oxbox Lake, a picturesque haven where we paused to absorb the stunning views of elegant homes perched along the lakeshore. Nature's beauty surrounded us, creating a tranquil interlude before we embarked on the next leg of our expedition.
Journeying to the Oxbow Sidechannel, we continued our southbound exploration along the PoCo Trail, meandering through Lions Park with its vibrant greenery. Exiting at Pitt River Road, we seamlessly re-entered the trails, now on a northbound course along the Riverside Trail. The changing scenery kept our senses alive, each turn revealing a new facet of Coquitlam's natural charm.
As the sun began its descent, casting a warm glow over the landscape, we retraced our path, relishing the familiar sights in a new light. Our leisurely ride covered a total of 15.6 kilometers, a testament to the unhurried pace that allowed us to savor every moment. The clock showed three and a half hours, but the memories etched in our minds felt timeless.
This cycling odyssey along the Coquitlam River was more than just a physical journey; it was an immersive experience into nature's wonders, unexpected delights, and the joy of exploration. As we pedaled back to our starting point, we carried with us the exhilaration of adventure and the satisfaction of having discovered the hidden treasures that Coquitlam's cycling trails had to offer.
