That was incredibly useful, brilliant footage and glorious weather by the looks of it!!! One important point I noticed was how far back on the Discus your hand is, mine is definitely not as far back as that, which may explain why my release can be a bit inconsistent, you were definitely pushing the Disc. Thanks for posting, it just goes to show that at very nearly 60 years old I can still learn something😀💪👍.
Very helpful to see the Ultra Slow Mo. Great technique for coaching/teaching newer throwers too, so they can see it simplified before their own eyes. Keep up the Great Work!
Very helpful 👍 thanks. Watching your half turns helped me to realise that I am blocking too much by not turning my left foot enough when landing in the power position. 👍
This is my favorite video so far. I have a hard time following the speed of a good thrower on video, seeing in super slow really helps. It would be SUPER cool if you were able to zero in on specific parts of the throw, like the release which I always struggle with. Thanks for posting this!
Thanks John, always enjoy your videos. One thing I would have liked to have heard that might help some of us coaches is to explain just what you saw that needed work. Would be cool to hear you share some details and then we could go back and look at the video and try to see what you are talking about. Wondering if part of your critique might be your disc position when you reached double support and if you would like to see the discus a bit further back? I am really looking at that position because I have a HS thrower who is beginning to unwind and throw before that front foot comes down. Thanks again for sharing.
I officially started throwing again last night since I graduated college is 2016. I struggle with my upper body leaning too far forward when I land in the power position and leads to a very slow left foot landing. I was strong enough with the 1.6k to muscle it (170’), but the 2k (only ever got to 150’)always killed me. Any drills besides the broomstick to work on this?
Good question, I know exactly what you are talking about. My guess is that your middle foot needs to turn more or turn faster in the center of the ring. It's when the foot stops turning that the upper body drops and makes the left land so slow. Keep focusing on turning your foot in the middle and keeping your hips under you and your chest up. You can make the correction! 💪
Hi ! You have helped me very much in those 9 monthss i ve been throwing discus u are a very good coach sir im 15 and im from greece. I would like to ask how much does the fibersport pro discus costs
I'm glad you're finding my content useful! Keep up the good work! As for the fibersport discus, I think they range from $100 USD up to $300 USD. You can check out their pricing here: fibersportdiscus.com/click-for-our-prices
That question does not have a simple answer. What is more important is to ask, "What makes a good stand throw?" and I answer that question in my video: ruclips.net/video/5atxdHaE-T8/видео.html
Since the 2k is so heavy, you'll need to be stronger then you've ever been in order to throw it farther. Also, since it is heavier, technique is more important too. Especially focus on pushing the discus with your lower body and keep your posture upright. Good luck! 💪

Great observation Seamus. I noticed at 1:43 where he purposefully moves his index finger back to get that perfect fit. Good stuff.
@@vernblohm7420 Thanks Vern, at least at 60 my eyes are still in working order......as for the rest of me?🤔🤨🤣😂
Yeah, the correct hand position provides confidence and stability during the throw! The weather was fantastic, too! Even got a little sun burn!

Hi Ed, that is a great point! I will make a reaction video that talks about what I saw in the slow-mo throws. 💪
Why your right foot off the ground before release??
