I recommended it to a friend who got a copy and is thrilled with my suggestion
I think it's safe to say that with the Hávamál we are in the presence of Old Norse Philosophy. Despite the classical authors being quite popular to this day, and indeed Plato, Marcus Aurelius and so on are still quite relevant, I think the Hávamál is truly a very relevant piece of early medieval Nordic philosophy people should definitely look into.
Thank you so much for this! I recently had a dispute with someone who claimed no such text exists, thank you for making this more known. (They of course refused to look it up, just repeated that it doesn’t exist, I find that type of mindset to be hilarious)
As always, thank you for your time 🌿🌻
With great pleasure my friend. Be well, and thank you for listening!
I would love more information on the spells! 😸
It shall be done, eventually :b

Salutations,
I believe the Havavmal is the only Heathen text we can take our skeptical glasses off for.
Arith please tell us about the 18 spells mentioned in this video!!! 😮😮😮😮😮🎉🎉🎉
Wow thanks for all your research! Is there an English translation of this text?
Would love to see you so readings or chapter by chapter/poem breakdowns
You answered the question I've always had. Is the Hávamal the only religious book in the Heathen religion or are there more? Also thanks for differentiating out the Eddas. Keep up the great work!😊😊😊
Agradeço muito por sua disposição em explicar a cultura antiga do Norte. Somos Grandes Fãs de todo seu Trabalho. Quando veremos publicações literárias suas aqui no Brasil?
Hey Härger, good morning, how is it going? Some time now, distant from your work and Paganism, but I missed it, and fortunately I looked for yesterday and found you again, my best by far, reference in Northern European Paganism. So I intend to reconnect again to paganism, to what I named and call S.G.A.S. ( Scandinavian, Germanic and Anglo-Saxon ) Paganism, hopefully with the great help of your work. Good to be back, greetings, Uther Finucane O'Connel.
Havamal and runestone inscriptions. Have any of the monuments that you have studied had a laser topography study to look for worn inscriptions?
Plsss a rune spell video would be so helpful… the girls need to stop fuckin around and finding out 😂
Forgive my misunderstanding, but i though that the Havamal was considered a part of the Eddas. I guess i'll watch your video on the Eddas.
Good point. The Hávamál is indeed in the Konungsbók along with other Eddic poetry. However, the Hávamál stands out as being completely different than the other poems, which is peculiar since the Konungsbók is a compilation of different poems, so it's basically compiling the surviving eddic poetry into a single work. Most likely, the content of the Hávamál was understood as a totally different type of work before the compilation by Christian clerical workers. It is the only surviving poem that, instead of loose mythological content, it is actually mainly a philosophical work, presenting advice on proper social etiquette and to live a better life, as well as proper conduct and the worth of wisdom.
Thank u for this video😆
Do you happen to have any previous videos on Odin’s self-sacrifice and it’s symbolic meaning?
for modern context it can be used as religious context. it is up to the individual using the texts. as ancestral cultist, myths are an insight into the subconscious of our forebears. of course only those who are descendant the germanic peoples can claim ancestral religion within the mythical texts.
No video today 6/26/24? did I miss something?
I know it's likely false, but I once heard a story of a Viking guy who shaved and polished his head. The story goes, that one day he shunned the gods, so to avoid their gaze he wanted to make his head so shiny that they can't bear to gaze upon him.
True or not, it's great. All that to say that you should wax/polish your head when you shave it. It would be cool as Hel.
Is there a translation that is better than others?
How much Christian influence is there in the Havamal, or is there any at all? It seems to me there are similarities to Proverbs in several parts of it. Or is it just coincidence?
What is the difference between magic and religion?
Are old germanic gods immortal ?
This religion was understood and followed throughout all of Northern Europe, the Nordics just held out against Christianity longer than the others... It was practiced from Germany to Russia to England and everywhere in between... Odin's names are found all over Northern Europe before the advent of Christianity and its forced acceptance was brought to the people by the sword...
You don't need a religion to have spiritual practices
No doubt, and I totally agree. In fact, I do believe Religion has the tendency to destroy spirituality, as more often than not there's little room for Personal Gnosis and a denial of people's own experiences and ways to develop contact with the spiritual (originally all religions were personal gnosis, and in the long run it's hypocrisy to deny people's own experiences with the spiritual). However, the focus of this video is to indeed try to perceive a religious-philosophy from the past for historical purposes.
I agree with you, but we also cannot deny that Religion is very important. For those who are in despair or have lost faith in life, religion can be the thing that will help them revive... This is just a personal opinion so you can refer to it.
@@AnhThuNguyen-zs9qh Just find a place to breath with other people, you'll be fine.
