This must be so exciting for you both, looking forward to seeing it I’m sure you’re going to have teething issues but also hope your really comfortable in it, I think your very brave actually. Our caravan is over 10 yrs old and we love it and we’ve done so much to it to-modify it to our taste and needs and I think that’s a lot I don’t know how I’d cope doing a new build so congratulations to you.
Good tips there team. Setting up your caravan depends on what you want to do with it & where you want to go. We have 320 watts of solar with two 120 amp hour agm batteries. We manage just fine by being prudent about how we use power. We're on the road about 130 days a year here in NZ and have only had a few times where we've had to book into a camping ground on power hook up. If we lived like you do, then we'd never manage. Its horses for courses really. Can't wait to see your new setup. Thanks guys. 😊

Starlink Mini has just been released. This unit works off of 12V so you no longer need to turn on an inverter and it has an internal wifi modem. Just plug in 12 V, point the dish in the right direction and you have internet. It's a smaller dish so looking forward to reviews about how it works in Australia. Does it have the same connectivity and speed? There is a normal full data plan but also a cheaper plan with 50GB/month. Seems it will also work while on the move. I'm not associated with Starlink. Just looking at internet options for my future van.
Starlink is a must have, I recently travelled north west of Brisbane, not too far away from major infrastructure, I had one bar on my phone using a Telstra sim. I don’t know how these people living in regional areas have coped for so long without full support of a phone. Theirs a fella called Mr Buccaronnie on Y.T. I may not have the spelling correct. His information is extremely useful in layman’s terms, as his just purchased the mini and has a caravan for travel.
Very similar list to what we consider when choosing ours. You must be so excited with the build currently happening. We are almost 12mths since we ordered ours and build starts in December for late January Delivery 🤞 Leisa and I have been stalking the Victorian manufactures trying to guess your new van and are thinking maybe one of the Boutique Caravans maybe the Trackhawk or Highlander 🤷♂️

I don’t think Zone caravans offer much in being able to vary their footprint design to satisfy a clients needs. This then leads the client to look elsewhere for a more specific manufacturer that can provide the right fit to satisfy the customer. Because, working full time has many advantages there are also drawbacks & with a more comfortable working environment, full time work on the road becomes more easier. Caravan manufacturers realise this & there are a number of them that can help to solve a “ better space” environment. This may be the case with these guys. Whilst the Zone product is one up there, change was essential for a better outcome.
For us it’s all about construction materials. We had a previous van that sprung a leak and the wooden floor rotted out. When looking for a new van our number 1 tip would be to consider what the floor, walls and roof is made from

Watched the whole episode and I'm not even going to buy a van. Just like listening to you guys chatting about stuff that relates to travel Oz. Ha!! My neighbour has an awesome van that he had custom built by Masterpiece vans in Melbourne. Am I close or miles away from the manufacturer you chose?
There aren't that many companies out there that allow you to do a full custom layout, We are looking at Off-road Grit RV, they will build a complete custom van, id love to say thats what your getting, but i feel you're going with Titanium 🤷♂ Cant wait to see what you end up with
I think a Lotus😊 thanks for the tips but a little late 4 me just spent 120.000 on a 4x4 then bought a van didn't know much about weights gcm manly so I think we will be around 400kg over people might say you should do your research but if you don't know what you're meant to be researching is a little hard.i think when you buy a van it should be legally binding that they ask you what your vehicle is any what its weights are then they can help you what van you can tow.
If it’s a Titanium you’ll be very happy… hardly a single issue with ours on a recent half lap and their customer service is embarrassingly good… and there’s just a real family vibe within the group.

This is by no means directed at you guys but as a parttime caravanner which means we probably get to do 5/6 months a year. I feel some full time caravanners look or talk down to us part timers. Do you think I’m being a bit over sensitive or have you noticed this ? Or anyone else felt the same ? As I stated I don’t believe you guys do that.
Thanks Grant, really appreciate your point and irrelative of what we think it is not acceptable for anyone to be looked down on or feel that they are being looked down on. We have alot of friends who csn only travel on weekends or holidays, largely due to having family commitments, children at school, elderly parents to care for and also because they need to work to bank funds to travel. Alot of our friends can only travel for a couple of weeks a year and we love to see their posts when they are out on the road making memories and enjoying the lifestyle! It doesn't matter whether you are part time, full time or in a van or in a rooftop tent, as long as you are enjoying the travel and lifestyle!

My guess…Lyfe RV or CRZR Van. If I had to sit in an office situation for 8 to 10 hours a day in a caravan I’d be looking for something more comfortable and custom than your typical off the shelf caravan.
Caravans have become over spec’d, overweight and overpriced. To need a bigger car to pull ever bigger vans is ridiculous. The company that brings sanity back to the market will make a fortune
