When Issac says "Boyd and Erica are dead. Cora's dying, and you're doing nothing" I want to scream. Derek has thrown his life down for everyone more times than I can count. He tries to help Scott, even after Scott and Stiles throw him under the bus for murdering all those people in season 1. He takes responsibility for his actions, and tries to make things right. He's been kicked and thrown to the ground, but he always keeps fighting. When he has no werewolf abilities, he still goes to Mexico to rescue Scott, and it nearly kills him. When Derek was standing between Cora and Boyd, as a man and not as an alpha, I thought he was going to become a true alpha, because that's what they're supposed to be. Somebody willing to stand in front of everybody else and say "Take me instead."
Yeah, I was mad at Isaac in that moment, too. Though I do want to say, it was Scott who threw Derek under the bus in season one, not Stiles. After Scott said it, Stiles had no real choice but to play along, but he got mad at Scott for saying that even though at the time, he thought Derek was dead, and he'd never really even liked Derek because he was scared of him back then. And then he hid Derek in his house while Derek was a fugitive. Derek really is one of the most self-sacrificing, selfless characters on the show, though, and it's really sad how almost everyone constantly kicked him while he was down to the point that Derek was used to it.
It goes down to the fact that Stiles was seriously the only one who was there for Derek and I think the reason Derek never held a grudge on Scott is because he sees his younger self in him

This is incredible. Derek is the emotional punching bag for the writers. It's like whenever the poor guy's life is a little less terrible than usual, they tear it all down and screw him over again. And I hate how so many other characters looked at him as the bad guy, the failure when everything he has done has been for everyone else but him. I think he's probably one of the most genuinely good characters in the show but he's never shown as a hero. They better give him some solid happiness this season but it's unlikely cuz you know, it's not Teen Wolf if Derek Hale's life doesn't completely suck. Damn, this video's made me depressed.

He cares for everybody including the super-jerk Jackson or Allison (he saves Allison's life a number of times from Scott even when she was the daughter of his enemy no. 1 and he could have easily kidnapped her/bullied her in retaliation of how the Argents (both Chris and Kate) treated him, but he ends up saving her instead for he is GOOD man. He cares for his pack like they are his family...he cries over Erica and Boyd and Scott, he will take a bullet happily for Scott any day! But does anybody actually acknowledge how pivotal he is to Scott's life and how Scott couldn't have become the true werewolf if not for him (he would have killed one of his friends/hunted down by the Argennts/killed by Allison's mom and should I go on)! Scott tries to save Derek out of a sense of duty towards pack, Derek tries to save him because when he says "we are brothers now" he really means it.

i feel so bad for him. there was no one there for him when he needed them. he never had a good life either, especially after when his whole house was burned down - and the majority of his family died - and then his sister died, and yet, they still blame him for everything. if someone could understand him - or be there for him, i think he would've been much happier - but no one was there for him - even if he needed them.
He lost paige too.. you know the first of many people he would lose. He loved her and she loved him. Yet she died... and he was left alone.. why couldn't they have brought her back?

The show did a lot of pontificating with certain characters, but Derek was one of the few characters that truly embodied heroism. The tragedy here was that he was the side character in somebody else's story.

Oh god, I have watched it and cried. I Just can't calm down, I mean Derek isn't a real person, but he's so real for me. ik this was like four years ago, but just wanted to say that i hate how people judge him, like when allison thought he bit her mother on purpose, it wasnt. her stupid mother tried to kill scott and derek had to save him, yet scott was still so rude. and i remember in season 2 scott becomes an omega just because derek was the one who killed peter. well news flash scott peter wasnt the one who killed a member from your family. he killed Laura Hale and legit cut her in half. oh and did i mention that if allison had abducted erica and boyd, erica would be alive by now. because the connection between an alpha and his betas is really strong and it ruined him. he legit blamed himself for boyd's death. oh and dont get me started with scott and his judgmental issues when derek turned teenagers into werewolvs. i mean for one: derek told them about the risks. two: they were willing to become wolves. and three: scott wasnt given a choice i get it but they were. ps derek has always been my favourite character from the moment i first saw till now. 🙂😭🤗

Years later it still shocks me that he went through all this agony and kept going. Even when he had a son, a reason to live beyond the raw need for survival, he dies in the disaster of the Teen Wolf movie (which is a major WTF moment for me because WHY). I know it’s a joke that Derek is never happy but if we think about why…the joke turns sour. This dude has been through hell and kept going. He kept fighting. If that doesn’t make a hero out of an underrated character I dunno what does. Yes he made grave mistakes, and ego and selfishness did nothing but fuel those mistakes but he tried to fix them, even as he watched his pack die and he couldn’t protect them. His life is tragic. He never even got remotely close to a happy ending.

The show did a lot of pontificating with certain characters, but Derek was one of the few characters that truly embodied heroism. The tragedy here was that he was the side character in somebody else's story.

ik this was like four years ago, but just wanted to say that i hate how people judge him, like when allison thought he bit her mother on purpose, it wasnt. her stupid mother tried to kill scott and derek had to save him, yet scott was still so rude. and i remember in season 2 scott becomes an omega just because derek was the one who killed peter. well news flash scott peter wasnt the one who killed a member from your family. he killed Laura Hale and legit cut her in half. oh and did i mention that if allison had abducted erica and boyd, erica would be alive by now. because the connection between an alpha and his betas is really strong and it ruined him. he legit blamed himself for boyd's death. oh and dont get me started with scott and his judgmental issues when derek turned teenagers into werewolvs. i mean for one: derek told them about the risks. two: they were willing to become wolves. and three: scott wasnt given a choice i get it but they were. ps derek has always been my favourite character from the moment i first saw till now. 🙂😭🤗

i miss derek so much. im crying right now.
Years later it still shocks me that he went through all this agony and kept going. Even when he had a son, a reason to live beyond the raw need for survival, he dies in the disaster of the Teen Wolf movie (which is a major WTF moment for me because WHY). I know it’s a joke that Derek is never happy but if we think about why…the joke turns sour. This dude has been through hell and kept going. He kept fighting. If that doesn’t make a hero out of an underrated character I dunno what does. Yes he made grave mistakes, and ego and selfishness did nothing but fuel those mistakes but he tried to fix them, even as he watched his pack die and he couldn’t protect them. His life is tragic. He never even got remotely close to a happy ending.
