Lucky bastard!! Always getting really nice tools for free!! I have about 6 or 7 nepros ratchets, and they come bone dry most of the time, so a couple of drops of oil really help that initial back drag.
I don't like the quick release on my Nepros because you have to push Real deep and the edge around it feels uncomfortable! It doesn't work as good as on other ratchets.
Absolutely ridiculous pricing, especially in this economy of hyperinflation while income hasn't gone up....there is zero justification for anyone to spend this much on a ratchet that doesn't do anything a $50 ratchet doesn't do. Or even a $30 ratchet.
The Nepros ratchets are a work of art.

I got one cheap for $70 just to try it out. I agree with you and prefer Koken which can be had for 30-$50 all day.
