This is a performance to treasure because the sensible tempo, the articulation, and the instrument fit the music so well. The Toccata is a fiendishly difficult thing to play (Schmidt wondered privately if he had written something too awkward and tiring to be performed) and as such it deserves to be done so that every note is heard, which is what happens here !
I couldn`t agree more, @mbrough2799! I first heard this in the sixties when Susi Jeans played it at the Free Trade Hall, Manchester. I loved it then. There is not enough of this kind of music broadcast. I fear that Radio 3 has gradually become more "popular" in it`s approach. I am all for that in principle, but not if the music which explores the inner depths of things heard here, for example, get kicked out! Anyway, to finish - do you listen to Louis Vierne`s Organ Symphonies? Some very interesting movements indeed!! Many thanks. Beverley Wood (Mr)
Sweet! It's actually nice to hear this complex piece interpreted on a relatively small instrument. Not everything requires a Cavaillé-Coll earthquake with 45 seconds of reverb!
@@DarkoPleli I cannot imagine anyone not liking this. Such a difficult piece played by heart in such a light a and lilting way... wonderful. I know how difficult this piece is. Will subscribe. Have a look at my channel too, I recently recorded some Schmidt as well

Sehr schön. Nicht zu schnell gespielt, optimal ohne Noten zu hören. Danke!
Perfekt gespielt, Brava!
