    That was another great river trip from Red Deer to Sundre. I thought it would have been longer. I enjoy watching your trips. I get right into it lol Thanks for sharing.

      Thank you, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. This is a pretty part of Alberta. Coal Camp is a tiny community west of Sundre... it makes for a short day trip. I hope to do the trip from Sundre to Red Deer next year. That one would probably be a three day trip. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Take care.

    Another beautiful trip with a few tricky spots to navigate. There are places where the river spreads out into several small shallow streams and then just a minute later they all converge and turn into a substantial river. I love watching it change like that. When I saw you post this video I was half expecting a smoky sky but it looks spectacularly clear and blue. Perfect weather for a day on the river. Thanks for sharing a peaceful trip down the Red Deer.

      Thanks very much Robbie. This was a nice September day, mostly sunny and not much wind. The water levels were fairly low and it made it interesting in terms of choosing the best channel. At this water level, it seemed like a very dynamic river. It was shallow, but thankfully I did not hit many rocks or bottom out. Yes, no smoke during this trip!! It had been hazy recently, but clear on this day. Thanks again, take care.

    That’s a nice stretch. Have done plenty of sections in the badlands never this part further upstream. Adding that to the 2025 itinerary! Thanks!

      This was a nice day on the river. All of the large rapids are upstream of this put-in, but there is potential for some sweepers and logjams. All in all, it is a very nice section. Thanks for taking the time, take care.

    Hey Nick, very relaxing trip. I must say I really appreciate when you tell us where you start and where your takeout point is because right away I grab my phone and I look for those locations. Thank you for another exciting video! Frank--Alberta

      Yeah this is a relaxed trip compared to the sections above. It makes for a nice day trip. Documenting the rivers is my objective. I'm glad to hear that you look up the locations. Thanks Frank, I appreciate you taking the time.

      Hi Greg. It was a nice run in late season flows. There is good current for most of the run, though it does slow in the second half. I got lucky with a mostly sunny day and not much wind. I hope you are having a nice September. Have you been out fishing lately?

      @@nickharland3795 its excellent, thanks. Been out checking on the walleye but don't seem to be in the fall run yet. I'll let you know if I find them, you'd be welcome to join.

    Hey Nick, Love your videos by the way. When you say the river is 28 cm/s, is that a speed or is it like volume cm3? Just curious also how you measure that? Thanks!

    • @nickharland3795
      @nickharland3795  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you very much, I appreciate it. It is a description of volume. 28 cubic meter per second. The provincial government has a website that monitors river levels and flow rates. They have gauges set up that calculate river width, depth and speed in order to determine the volume. That is where I get all my numbers.

    • @nickharland3795
      @nickharland3795  3 месяца назад

      Yeah it was a nice run at this lower level. Three hours maximum. I took a few breaks and never really noted my start time, but I'm sure the paddling time was less than three hours.

    Is that in the area that the grizzly bear attacks occurred

    • @nickharland3795

      That would have been a fair distance up-river from here. In or around the Banff National Park boundary I think.
