A shovel? What a beast bro. What a treasure she’ll have something her dad built with his bare hands. I’ve been watching your videos for a couple years now. “Preciate y’all!”
Jeff has got to be one of the hardest working contractors out there. That diggin is hard work but you don't hear Jeff complaining. Always makes everything look easy and it turns out great. Can't wait to see this build progressing. Hannah's blessed.
Dang dude that is the straightest dug by hand or machine foundation I've ever seen Jeff! You do excellent work and pay extreme attention to the fine details!!
My dad was an old school builder...he always said go above and beyond on your foundation for longevity. All his homes he built back in the 60s and 70's...still standing looking good and straight...solid foundation is 🔑 key to solid structures. 👍
Wow, incredible! Subscribed because you deserve for this channel to explode with viewers! Look forward to seeing this home take shape. Hannah is so lucky to have a Dad like you! Your relationship makes me miss my own Dad so much. We had a similar bond and I fished, tried hunting, and went flying with him in his airplane. I was about the age Hannah is now when he passed away at only 56 yrs old. I’m a girl as well but he used to call me “My son Mike”. Pissed me off in the day but boy what I would give to hear those words again. Much love to you all in Alabama from Michele in New England!
There are times when it is better to know your limitations, than to know your strengths. Great work! I am sure Hannah appreciates all that you do for her. And you will appreciate not having a her camping out in your yard anymore. LOL
What an awesome job. I personally would love a house like that. I appreciate your sharing this with everyone. I never get tired of your videos. Thank you so much.
Hannah's going to have a nice size house this time. I still like her small home so I hope she keeps it for a she shack, lol. It will be really good for the fur baby to run around and play at night while inside. Jeff you amaze me in how diverse you are but then again "Country boy can survive". If Hannah turns out like you which she's already shown signs of, she'll be one remarkable woman.
That looks like 2 weeks worth of digging even if it is easy digging. I wish I had the back for such but I don't. It does look nice! Hannah is so fortunate to have a dad like you with the skills and ability you have. I know it will be the best built house in the state when you are done.
Hey Jeff, I guess no one needs a machine when you're on the job. Go easy on your back my friend. I blew my back out at 40 and have been disabled since. I had 2 surgeries and they made it worse. They say another should help but I'm not doing it. Anyway, go easy. Going to be a hugh house and a beautiful one I'm sure. Take care and be safe.
That's some mighty fine hand digging right there. Nice and straight, uniform depth, excellent work as always, Jeff. I reckon that footers down in the warmer south don't have to be any deeper than that due to the frost lines (frost heave) not being so deep there? Up here where I live, building code calls for 16" as a minimum and most will pour 24" to 36" just to be safe. I got hired when I was 14 to help hand dig a footer for a house in this Kentucky hard red clay dirt full of rocks and tree roots. I will never forget it how hot that it was and how worn out and sore that I was afterwards. You knocked this out like it was nothin'!
Thats old school footings and good to see .if I lived near by I’d be glad to do brick or block work for you and Hannah on house but I’m the other side of Atlantic in England 40 years experience.wish you go luck with house and hopefully no problems
Hiya Jeff, Nice video; thank you. Interesting seeing the change in the colour of the earth you've dug out and its dampness. I'm not sure I believe you that you'd make a mess with the backhoe; everything you do seems to always go so well. Stay safe, Steve...
Damn Jeff great job. Pretty cool to see it from start to finish. You’re definitely an artist with a shovel mine would’ve been as crooked as a politician 😂🤣
Hey Jeff I can only respect and appreciate your strength and will power to do all that digging by hand I done the same thing about 33 years ago when I built my house I just duf 30 foot by44 the same way but this Tennessee red clay is hard but I got it done makes you appreciate it a lot more thanks for the video I will be looking for your next video
No wonder your as ripped as you are! A shovel! That would destroy my back! I guess that’s the issue is I haven’t worked as hard as you do! She will be so pleased and what a great gift whether she pays you or not, it’s a gift to have your house built by your father! Looking forward to the progress! Great job!
Mr Jeff you are old school cool, I remember doing that for the first house I built, lot of work digging the footer's and keep doing what you're doing, which is a good job, thanks for another great video 👍
You don’t have a couple of young bucks to help with the digging…good training for them…good work man…been through this myself three different homes…the last was the best cause I hired a guy to be the construction manager…so I just watched.
That looks labor intensive to me especially in hot weather, but it helps to be used to the heat. Yeah, Hannah would be a great assistant as she is a hard worker and unafraid to get her hands dirty. This is a labor of love.
Good God Jeff! You need to use some equipment or at least get some young fella to help dig buddy. Our bodies only last so long. I can't wait to see the series on this one. God knows I need to learn a few more things. Hannah must be very excited. God Bless and Good Hunting (Maine North Woods Hunter ) Shane
Wow, you're a SAVAGE!!! Got a lot of work done for being all by yourself. However, the soil seems to have a high content of clay (probably could make bricks from it) and not as difficult to dig as it looks. Minimal rocks, which always makes digging a daunting task. But, still some serious labor involved. Hat tipped 🧢 Sir. I'm impressed to say the least. Tell PRG I said Hey!!
Do you not get Freezing conditions or Tornadoes down there! If you did, it would be nice to have a cellar for the plumbing and heating elements, plus as a shelter for storms...
??? I thought I just watched you guys build her new home! Huge porch, yellow pine, beautiful vaulted ceiling, central air, roses out front... Was I dreaming??
Hannah in a full size house! Are you going to make counter tops and cabinets a tad lower than normal? Seems reasonable for a home built for someone 5' tall.
Mr Jeff, with digging almost 300 feet of footers, I'm sure you can get plenty good to save your back, and shoulders by running a track hoe. Where I live, you could never hand dig a footer, as the area is loaded with limestone. Every spring after the thaw, there are out croppings that rise to the surface. I had to move the location on where I was building my shop, due to the veins of limestone.
A shovel? What a beast bro. What a treasure she’ll have something her dad built with his bare hands. I’ve been watching your videos for a couple years now. “Preciate y’all!”
Priceless
If only I had his endurance.
One of a kind
Unbelievable work hand digging those trenches Jeff! You are such a giving person! You’re daughter and family are blessed!
You are a machine, Jeff!!! My back hurts just watching this video. 🤣 House is going to be awesome and very well built!
Man, I can't believe you dug 288' by hand. That's a lot of work. I can only imagine what your hands 🖐 look like. No wonder you look so buff! 👍
My dad was an old school builder...he always said go above and beyond on your foundation for longevity. All his homes he built back in the 60s and 70's...still standing looking good and straight...solid foundation is 🔑 key to solid structures. 👍
Jeff you have my up most admiration and respect. Wish more carpenters or even workers today had the the pride of their work.
When someone says “be a man!”, this is the kind of thing they’re talking about. Masterful work my friend!
A little bit of digging wow!!!!!
I really like your and your daughters channel. It has a lot of wholesome family value that you just don’t see that often anymore!

Jeff ain't skeert of work that's for sure. Best looking footings, I have ever seen.
Thanks for explaining how you're doing the foundation. I want to build a house but getting the foundation right worries me the most.
That is some FINE hand work there Jeff. And a LOT of it too.
I have got great admiration for you , keep us updated and thank you for sharing !!

If a daughter ever did have a blessing of a father, it would be Alabama's little darlin, Ms. Hannah B.💝
You're a better man than I am, Jeff. I love my kid too. But you and I are about the same age. About time our kids take care of themselves!
