    Bob Monkhouse was on top form as ever. He had a joke for every situation and they're still funny to this day. He was the best Family Fortunes presenter.

      Bob was the Gameshow King Of The World. Impeccable, smartly turned out, stylish... And very funny.

      @@Gaming_with_Jacko I agree with you there. He brought a more relaxed, laid back, sincere approach. In patches he hit exactly the right note, and when he did, he could be very funny.

    Bob Monkhouse all the way and always looked very dapper in his 3 piece suit, memories of Friday night and watching it on a Philips g22k550 tv. I always remember asking my nan why the board used to always keep changing ever round and eh eh sound was. So miss being a young child

    I have fond memories of enjoying Family Fortunes just before we went for our weekly family swim, and we'd be leaving just as the Cannon & Ball theme tune started playing. So I have fond memories of that too, but not because we watched the programme! Also our local swimming complex, recently opened (in December 1980) used a mixture of browns, beiges and yellows in its décor, so it almost seemed like we were going to the "Family Fortunes" swimming pool.
    EDIT: Good grief, that "We are SAILING!!! No, we're not sailing!" - that brings back an absolute vivid point-in-time memory from seeing it at the time - so much so it's spooky!

    This episode has the ATV Zoom 2 ident and ATV Colour Production endcap due to the fact the series was made in 1981, before ATV became Central. A Central Presents frontcap would have preceded Zoom 2 or the Central ident would have been played out live, plastering over Zoom 2.

    • @Musicradio77Network
      @Musicradio77Network 5 лет назад +1

      They did the same for “The Muppet Show” when it was originally on ATV did the same “In Colour” bumper and the “Colour Production” at the end when it was imported to series through ITC for US syndication. This was right up until “The Muppet Show” ended in 1981 when ATV ended its run.

    • @antster1983
      @antster1983 5 лет назад +1

      @@Musicradio77Network Well, it wasn't exactly the same. There would have been two separate editions made - one for broadcast in the UK by ATV (which would contain an extra sketch due to ITV having shorter commercial breaks at the time), the other for international export by ITC. The ATV/ITC endcap at the end was superimposed over Zoot playing the off-key note at the end of every episode.

    "Living or dead, name a famous Scotsman"-rather surprising it did not turn out anywhere near as funnily as "name a famous Irishman" from the Max Bygraves era.

    Bob on Big Money: "If you repeat any of the questions... Oops... Any of the answers that Jill gave me..."
    Also, he said at the end of the first Big Money round, "right on the 20 seconds, but acceptable', when it was actually 15 seconds.
    If Max had made a slip-up like that, he would have got slated for it.
    Bob & Max weren't all that different really, in that sense.
