I have been growing these plants and grafting them for over 35 years and with great success, I might say. Very good production of eggplants.

They tried grafting tomatoes on to datura stramonium in South Africa and people started hallucinating! That’s jimson weed ,thorn apple, devils snare or devils trumpet. Sorry if I’ve got the wrong plant, just wanted to be safe. Have Horticultural and Botanical qualifications. Really love your work and follow you all the time on RUclips, news etc. cheers Paul

@samiamnot8906 I'm in Melbourne. Mine's 2.5 years old and although it drops a lot of leaves in by July, it went crazy back to growing once we hit September. I just harvested 2kg yesterday with plenty more coming and it's only December. Usually i get nothing until Feb/March with ungrafted Eggplants.

Hey Vasili, can you create some Big Malaka tomato trees from this root stock.

Yes, you can. Determinate works better than indeterminate tomatoes because it stays compact like a bush. Indeterminate creep like a vine and die back a lot the longer it gets.

@@RPI79 Thanks for the advice, I guess that might rule out the Big Malaka.

Hi Vasili, is this Solanum torvum,? (also known as turkey berry and sundakkai) I know it as Thai pea eggplant and grow it for the sour fruit to use in Malay and Thai stir fries.
I’ve got lots of developed spares around the place and now the tomatoes, eggplants and capsicums are going quite well am looking forward to your grafting episode!

Devils fig is a solanum chrysotrichum. I wonder if Solanum Torvia could be used instead??

Some people in our cane farming area used a devils fig graft to eggplant combined with mill mud,a bi product of sugar milling. Rich in fibre and nutrients. I've seen egg plants six metres tall and loaded in fruit as a result. However ,while tasting good, eggplant is a nutrient poor vegetable.
