Wow. The previous owner’s story is crazy. Geez. This might be the most unique purchase you guys will make. Going to be hard to top this. Loved Christian’s expressions driving the car. You guys are amazing and my fav auto and aircraft RUclips channels. Oh… would be very hard to sell something that incredibly nice.
The problem with unnecessarily large payouts is that the insurance companies need to recoup the loss and have to charge everyone more. We all end up paying for that.
@@suecobandito8954insurance companies apparently don’t make that much from underwriting insurance, most of their profits come from reinvesting your money elsewhere whilst sitting on it between receiving the premiums and having to payout or so I was told years ago!
I meet him at the Copart yard in Vallejo CA he told me about a McLaren he had bought that was coming to the channel wondering if this is it . Super chill guy congrats on the purchase .
Yup that’s audison bit10 dsp and hertz amp probably have upgraded aftermarket speakers, most likely a knob or a screen in the car to control the setting for the dsp on the fly
That is an Audison bit one audio processor, and an Audison multi channel amp (can't tell from the video witch one) it's absolutely aftermarket equipment, it's a high end processor designed to take the signal from the factory radio, adjust and allow tuning to send to a amplifier. More than likely, it has some high-end speakers and possibly an added subwoofer. It's absolutely better than the OEM sound system, just like performance parts and tune can provide more hp, that audio equipment can absolutely outperform the stock setup. Most of what people think is good OEM audio isn't any good to an audiophile, and it will show on test equipment compared to aftermarket
OMG Jeff! 😱That was one hell of a Buy! You guys must have horseshoes up your butts! 🤣 You need to have a fleet sale, you have a lot of cars. Thanks for the great video!.....Ray 🇨🇦
You clearly love it and a McLaren has always been JR Garage heritage. I'm sure you can find a way to keep it. You'll always get a profit it whenever you wanna sell it later. Keep it imo
That's a awesome story! I have a couple cars insured at a specific value and I'm always shocked when the insurer never contacts me to lower the insured value. Such a odd industry.
Wow what a crazy story...Would I sell it yes I would as long as the right price comes along. But all in all what a sweet ride and the color is absolutely sick what a major score
I'm a sucker for a green hotrod anyway, so I say: Keep It!! Not only that, but there's a crazy-cool story behind it too. You say McMarens are more reliable and better than their contemporaries. Get the jet money from another deal, IMO. This car will appreciate, I'm pretty sure. Under 4000.......
Good on you both taking the risk and then bringing it back. Question, with the crazy, stupid laws in USA,how do you get on with registration and sale now. Again congratulations. Maungaturoto, New Zealand.
Back in 2011 I bought a new Toyota Camry XLE....a few months later when I brought it in for service I mentioned that one of the clips that held the drivers floor mat down was missing.........I figured replace the clip no big deal. Nope it ws a full carpet placement. That's how the dealers make their $$$.
Still with a salvage title at most its worth 75 percent of a clean title. Even tho it was NEVER hit. Amazing how a pc of paper can mean so much. TRY GETTING A LOAN FOR SALVAGE......near impossible...thats why the value tanks. Hope you didnt pay more then 65k.....its worth 112 to 115k id say without a doubt😊 god i would love that car. Im saving as we speak😊
Hello from Ireland, Guys. I would Cry if I had to get rid of this Beauty, lol 😆. Anyway, great job with taking the chance with this one. And getting it for half the money 👏👏💯. An Irish Man needs to buy it because of the Colour. Lol. Great video again Guys. 💯👏👏👏🥰 🇮🇪
It is quite possible that the smoke smell would dissipate in a couple of years, HOWEVER, even if it took a year to do so, rather than the two it has had, I doubt if anyone would deem it reasonable to expect the owner to put up with the smell while it did. As such, even though it sounds excessive, all that replacement could actually have been necessary to return it to the road within a reasonable time free from the smell of smoke. Going by your brief summary of the events, I suspect that all the 'extra' costs such as lawyers, expert testimony etc. came to far more than the amount they were trying to save, and that no one thought to re-examine the car ro see if the smell of smoke was still present, but went on the initial reports etc -.oops! But great for you.
That goofy cobbled machine at 16:00 appears to be a first generation Mazda5 minivan. Pretty crazy that thing is road legal. Who knows how well those "parts" are attached.
People who say McLarens are unreliable don't own one or dont drive theirs. Mine is at almost 21K and in 2 days I will be doing my 3rd multi-state 750 miles in one day drive on this vehicle. No issues with my car after 3 years of ownership just annual service and oil changes and tires.
I find it interesting it had a custom installed escort 9500ci radar detector that they didn't mention. It's a little outdated by todays standards, but cool none the less. I also wonder how much it cost.
Sharing the joy of an uncommon car is better than stuffing a beautiful car in a garage . People look and thumbs up when I drive my 84 Deville and 85 Eldorado.
Love this car 💚💚💚💚 Keep it ! What a stupid insurance company Based on the McLaren Repairer fix up cost of close to $ 200 k ? Which they would know is OTT, They should have paid out the owner $ 300 k Let him have a total loss claim, and not haggle over this. Time is $$$$$ Then they get the McLaren cleaned up for not a lot of $ And then they sell it for Close to $ 200 k, via an auction etc. Their overall spend is then not too much. Instead of doing this, based on losing the legal battle etc, this claim probably cost the insurance company $ 500 k, or more… IE total loss payout of the car of $ 300 k Plus a huge amount of legal expenses…
Any interest in a 2011 Audi r8 v10 coupe brand new clutch, ac compressor, Michelin tires , battery, and more I’m forgetting + I’ll add cash . Idk if you remember me but I was gonna buy your viper a few years ago
Insurance companies take your monthly premiums and then do not want to pay the claims. And then like in Florida and California, they want to jack up premiums sky high or leave the state after years of taking customers money.
“Dirtiest McLaren the world has ever seen?” Forgetting abt Freddy’s P1! 😂

Right. How come insurance headquarters are so nice? From not paying out claims.

Amen! I was going to post about the obvious insurance scam/sillyness.
I don't think is a very big problem considering it's exceedingly rare, plus they are posting multii billion dollar profits every quarter.
This channel doesn’t get millions of views but it feels like home. Been watching since before the high school vids.

Dealership's in general will bill as much as they can, truly needed or not. This McLaren is proof of that.
Awesome! Always good to see hard work with good outcomes
What a result for you two.
Brilliant purchase and she cleaned up like a brand new car.
Sort that little scratch and what a result
Congrats.

Impressive restoration job on the McLaren 650s! 👏
So crazy on repair quote. Worked out well for you.🎉
Great work on the Mclaren!
Salute Bro's thanks for the content
So satisfying watching that car come back to life
Glad to see there was no damage and just a proper wash & polish brought it back to life!
Invest in a car blower dryer which can also be used to blow dirt and dust from interior. Metro vac
Maybe the spots mark the places where molten plastic or something has dripped on the car but they managed to clean it up pretty good?
Keep it my man
