Professor Hey teen gave us a video on the Scorpion last night, Sven VanderPlank earlier about the 2nd Succession War, and now Red gives us the long awaited Warhammer IIC! WHAT A DAY!!! 💪
The wars of reaving were horror of a cosmic level. And the irony of it all is that it was the final form of Nicholas's demented vision, worse than all of the succession wars combined and only equaled by the Blakists Ragnarok. Very well done. Glad to hear some familiar voices in there too.
I don't know, the Succession Wars were pretty horrific and in total numbers of nightmares, probably outpaced the Reaving, if not the rate after you average with the quieter years.
@bthsr7113 I'd say the Wars of Reaving had more intensity in the relative short amount of time. The 1st and 2nd Succession Wars were more just economic slaughter than anything.
@@bthsr7113 The succession wars also were not wars of annihilation. Even the 1st and 2nd for all their horrors were wars of conquest. The Wars of Reaving started as annihilation and didn't really get better. To be frank had the Society not rebelled the Wars of Reaving likely would have made everything else seem mild. The Succession wars were about conquest and it shows. Yes horrors were common but they were based on some actual logic (as horrific as it was) and were not simply slaughter for the sake of slaughter which is exactly what the Wars of Reaving were. Bombing a planet to deny an enemy resources? Barbaric and horrific but logical. Slaughtering a clan because they are "tainted" in some nebulous way? Um what?
I just put an entire engine together and I'm not even halfway through. Lol. The lore is amazing. Definitely my favorite publication of one of your works yet.
From visuals to lore dump to mech description, this is top notch. It really gripped and held my attention for 4 hours even though I thought I would not be able to listen to it in one go.
I know I stated this in the chat, but Clan Star Adder is my favorite among the Clans because of their pragmatic view and more realistic outlook on warfare than the other Clans before Operation: REVIVAL. They may have been warriors and fought like their fellow Clans, but when it came to fighting the Successor States, they knew that Clan way of fighting would not be enough against a numerically superior, and more flexible in terms of tactics adversaries. So, they developed mechs like the Warhammer IIC and OmniMechs like the Adder/Puma with the mindset of a soldier readying for war, not a warrior looking for a duel with other honorable warriors.
Wow…That was intense! An appropriate coverage of a legendary mech. From Mechwarrior 2 to current, I have adored the Warhammer IIC. It is a fine assault platform. Well done Red!
Thank you everyone who was involved in this 4 hour epic! Not only is it full of history regarding one of the baddest IIC mechs, ever, but also a nicely detailed history into its creator: my favorite Clan - The Star Adders. There isn't enough material for them and I love and appreciate all those involved in recanting their history up to where the cannon has left off!
Just salvaged a Warhammer IIC in Roguetech, googled the mech to learn more about it and i saw this. Roguetech can wait, time to learn. Thank you for the sheer effort that was put into this let alone everything else.
One more excellent example of what our LEGENDARY Battletech creates synergistically! By yourselves, each of you create top-notch content. When one of you creates a video where you all come together like this (or for several of Sven's videos over the last year+), it makes me so proud of our community! I don't see this level of S+ tier collaboration anywhere else on RUclips. You asked for feedback on what we as viewers enjoyed the most about this video; here's mine. I've certainly heard about the Wars of Reaving elsewhere, but never in the detail you shared. I also have to admit, I didn't understand a lot of the nuances that are present throughout clan Star Adder's history or even those of the creation of the Raven Alliance until now. Great work!
Honestly I really liked the Clan history lesson included with this video. I've never really followed it much and this version was more palatable then most. The co-labs were a great bonus! Great job everyone.
These were absolutely the coolest clans to learn about so far, and the Warhammer IIC is close to my favourite clan mech. Took me 3 days to watch the entire video, but it was a wonderful ride.
Another masterpiece is done. My thanks to the great amount of work for it, as well as the collaboration by other content creators across the community.
I would really, REALLY like to impress upon you just how grateful I am you decided to make this also a history lesson into the "new" era. As someone who has been really enjoying a LOT of BT content lately (including the similarly massive first succession war vid from Sven VDP) this has been, really, my very first 'history' on anything past the 3070s, despite being in love with the setting and following the setting very closely in the 3000s, the 3100s are basically an unknown to me but as the ilClan hera unfolds and the community embraces the continuation of the setting this has been really really helpful for me and youve done an incredible job on it Very well deserved rest now!
I used to use a Kraken I called the beehive. 8 LRM 15s hiding behind a hill or in deep forests, just lobbing indirect fire until you're out of ammo. Everybody hated that thing.
It took me two days to watch this, but it has been well worth it. I absolutely love the Tim Burns style in the first half of the piece and adore the various voice cameos. You're doing great work, Big Red, we appreciate out here.
Simply Amazing. Bravo. While all the variants of the warhammer IIC make me happy, except maybe in the price tag for the XL models, and just the 3 and 12 on principle, there is something magical about the original being a very rugged ERPPC and pulse laser boat. Its just everything IIC mechs try to be, sensibly applied clan tech not trying to squeeze every ounce of performance but just super solid. And half the price of an omni.....usually.
I'm so glad I could help with this video. Still going through it, and I've skipped to the end to see the credits. But regardless, I'm so glad I could help. If you need someone to help with capture footage, I am down. I serve Clan Star Adder. Clan Star Adder is all.
I was able to finish this just now. I thought to myself “what can you talk about for 4 hours on a single mech design?” And now I’m blown away by the quality and hurculean effort that went into a 4 hour documentary that was a history lesson on the clans woven around a single mech design and its variants. What a unique way of presenting this material. This is truly epic content for the Battletech Universe. /salute
With regards to the Warhammer IIC, you've made me fall even more in love with it. With Star Adder, you've engendered in me a desire to learn more about them. Something about a clan that wants all the jabbering clanners to shut up and be focused on a singular objective is really refreshing. I'll definitely look into them! Thank you for the fantastic video.
Big Red 40. Thank you again for all your hard work in these long videos. Thanks to Your Stone Rhino Video i painted my first box set of Wolf's Dragoons, Alpha Regiment paint scheme
1. I love this. 2. When I heard the voice that was being used for Dechavlier I paused the video and read that quote out myself because it felt deeply wrong.
This is my favorite indepth video about battletech I've ever seen. Well done. Especially cause Warhammer is not my favorite mech but damn I'm convinced
I'm happy to hear so much Star Adder lore in this video. You don't ever hear much of what is my favorite clan. The Warhammer IIC is also a wonderful mech and was glad to hear about both in this wonderful video.
I have deeply enjoyed this deep dive on the Warhammer IIC and my favorite clan, the Star Adders. And this has helped my Monday fly by. I just hope you don't do these long videos to often for your own sanity. Also it was great to hear so many creators in the battletech fandom voice lines in this. I love the collaborative nature of our community.
Finally finished the video. I'm still learning much, and I'm certainly eager to read the materials you used for this video. I have a romantic view of Star Adder. But the Warhammer. The entire line from the beginnings of the 6R to many configuretions of the IIC. I'm so glad the Warhammer was my 1st Mech in MWO. And the first I played with on Tabletop. It's such a good reliable machine. Affordable & versatile. A true war machine.
That was some massive content. I'm certain you're tired people telling you good job, but it's well deserved. Just thinking about the amount of work put into this video staggers me. Everything from the voice guests to the MechWarrior gameplay and the art was superb. The best part is the Snow Raven coverage. Stuff like this shines a light on more obscure aspects of the setting. I hope it gets more interested in the faction.
I'm also hoping the Ravens get good coverage. The obscure parts of Battletech are often, though not always, some of its best stuff. Even just battles that don't get referenced much, or people haven't heard of, can be fascinating to break down. Not everything is Tukayyid. lol
It took me a week to finish getting through it all, but this has been a glorious journey to go through as I do my cardio at the gym this past week. Truly this is a glorious machine, and I really loved seeing disappointment and resentment building in the minds of the Star Adders as time went on.
It took me 3 days to finish this video, but there was so much information to digest, and I loved it. I love the Warhammer IIC, and it was great to hear all of the lore behind this great mech. Keep up the great work, I'll wait with anticipation for the next one!
Well done Red. This is your best one yet. Great to see the level of research done, art commissioned, and sheer involvement of so many other creators to get this video done. Who would have thought that the story of one mech would be bound to the history of so many clans.
Damned impressive sir! It is also always a treat when you have Tex in as a guest, cooperation and mutual respect is always inspiring to see on youtube.
Fantastic video. All the information about the mech, its uses, and the clans that fielded it was very entertaining as well as informative. You really knocked this one out of the park sir.
This is gonna be so good. Update: So much better than even I could've predicted. Well done, Big Red. Guess I'll get back to swapping between yours and MechFrog's playlists now.
That was excellent and covered considerably more than just the Warhammer IIC! Very in depth indeed, I hadn’t expected the history lesson and the involvement of the other BT RUclipsrs👍 I didn’t know that much about the Wars of Reaving too! Ah the clans…so much more civilised than the IS😂 And as a Snow Raven fan I really want a IIC in my forces now. This was a great accompaniment to my hobby sessions this week, thank you for it!
Well done, Red. I took the time to listen to the whole thing because if someone who puts out quality content, I feel I ought to give you the full listen. It took a bit, as this was posted two weeks ago, but I have to say *ALL* of it was worth listening to. Well done, sir. Well done.
Thank you so muhc Kalei! I appreciate it! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, the half of the art itself was only made possible because of your support, and the support of the other Captain Generals, so thank you. :)
I finally finished watching this, not intended as a jab, I respect the dedication to make a 4 hour documentary. Really appreciate that you've put chapter markers in though, made it a LOT more bite sized. Jeez the Wars of Reaving was a mess and a half wasn't it?
I said this was gonna be epic and it was! Holy smokes mate I think you covered everything anyone would ever want to know about the Warhammer IIC, the clans and the thought process behind it's inception to the many variations up to the Il Khan era. Entertaining and easy to listen to even though its just over 4 hours in length, your left still wanting more. Guest voices were incredible and its always awesome hearing you guys on each others videos! Thank you and looking forward to the next one
I enjoy how you tie in these mechs histories to the greater context going on. I've always been meh towards the clans but that is changing mostly thanks to you lol.
Personally, I listen to your videos when I'm working on something. Your mech breakdowns are some of my favorites to listen to because I really like the format. Truthfully, I came here from Tex Talks Battletech hwen I ran out of his videos to listen to. While I still wish he made more content like that, I find myself wishing it had been the other way around.
@@BigRed40TECH Absolutely not, I loved it. Listening to something while I'm working is a bit of a coping mechansim that allows me to concentrate better. Because having ADHD means you need to have something to take up the processing power of the back of your mind in order to focus properly. You have an excellent voice and you cover material that I enjoy greatly, so I am often using your mech breakdowns for exactly that.
@@BigRed40TECH lol Strangely enough, that is not an uncommon response for me. Even in person I can be pretty deadpan unless I'm excited for something, which is kinda rare. But I guess it's another one of those weird ADHD things that normal folks don't really experience.
Wow that was a long video. I thank you for doing such a powerful and wide spread mech and one of the most interesting clans. I constantly say they have the best officer Corp in the clans and the best logistics also. I make no bones about it I for the most part don't like the clans, but the Star Adders are the exception for being so un clan like. Yet it was these differences that they are now kings of their domain.
Amazing video, fantastic guest voices, and four hours of Warhammer IIC! I was super excited to be able to contribute to the game play footage, keep up the great work!
Sometimes you just need to produce something you can afford to lose to win a war. Plain victory is more important than trying to pursue the vanity of having an expensive but fragile overperformer.
I like the format of presenting the history of the setting as framework for the evolution and inspiration for the mechs. it helps make the setting feel alive.
Had to wait a couple days before seeing this Colossus of a video, but well worth the wait. It was great to hear the Beef, Tex, Mech Frog, Svan, and others in this vid.
This was an excellent video, you can tell that you really put your best into it. Four hours might seem a bit extreme, but I watched it while painting minis and found it to be great content.
This was such an adventure, and worth every piece of popcorn. As always I'm entertained, learn more on the setting and have the sources to find it all. An Awesome piece that I will make sure to watch again and again.
Thank you for covering this mech. I don't wholly agree in your view on mech logistics, but you argued your case expertly. As for the minis, the Warhammer IIC's miniature sculpts are a rare case of the where the quality has just kept getting better.
Its one of mt all time favorite mechs, glad to see a feature video on it, even if I had to wait a while so I could watch it all the way through in one go. (I'm not a Star Adder fan, but the glitch graphic of the Star League emblem flickering with a snake tail was a nice touch)
Great video Red, the time and effort you put in really came through. You are really raising the bar for yourself. It was also really cool to hear th voices of other familiar voices lending a hand. Really shows how supportive the Battletech community is.
I support all of their work because its just incredible. From BPL, to B33F's twitch and videos, to Frog, to Sven, its all really great stuff. Six Sides deserves more recognition too, because Tommy and Paul put a ton into it.
@BigRed40TECH Wanted to let you know I thought the color scheme on the thumbnail Warhammer IIC was so cool it had me go out and buy another force pack so I could paint it up. Normally, I paint my Clan units as Ghost Bears, but I'm going to make an exception this time.

/salute
Thank you so much! It was a massive project!
Ayyyye I spy a little green Mechfrog🖤 I like seeing my favorite channels working together
Ever onward and upward BigRed! You've done an excellent job. You deserve a vacation man 🏝️
Much appreciated!
Field Manual Crusader Clans, Field Manual Update, and Wars of Reaving are all great sources for that :)
Big Red 40. Thank you again for all your hard work in these long videos. Thanks to Your Stone Rhino Video i painted my first box set of Wolf's Dragoons, Alpha Regiment paint scheme
That is awesome!
Bigred 40k, this video CRUSHED.....nice job and THANK YOU
Thank you Bry Y!
1. I love this.
2. When I heard the voice that was being used for Dechavlier I paused the video and read that quote out myself because it felt deeply wrong.
Sometime's people don't like the B33F's voice, but B33F was who I wanted to be Aaron as soon as I was planning the video out. lol
This should be fun.
OR WILL IT???
This is my favorite indepth video about battletech I've ever seen. Well done. Especially cause Warhammer is not my favorite mech but damn I'm convinced
I'm waiting to listen to this tomorrow at work! I am so incredibly stoked for this
I'm happy to hear so much Star Adder lore in this video. You don't ever hear much of what is my favorite clan. The Warhammer IIC is also a wonderful mech and was glad to hear about both in this wonderful video.
This is absolutely fantaastic art, well worth the wait.
Amazing video Red and excellent content as always! Took 2 sittings to watch it all, but well worth it. Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is great, love the combined history from many sources all in one place. Thanks for putting this together.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was planning on painting at that time... It is going to be epic!
Ignore maintenance at your own peril, you can either pay the price now or pay the unforeseen price of your neglect later.
It took me 3 days to finish this video, but there was so much information to digest, and I loved it. I love the Warhammer IIC, and it was great to hear all of the lore behind this great mech. Keep up the great work, I'll wait with anticipation for the next one!
Thank you! Next one won't be as long. There isn't room to make many projects like this one per year. lmao
Take your break, BigRed40-Tech. You've absolutely earned it.
The most comprehensive epic in the Battletech universe ever told. Cheers Brother. Thank you for you historical contribution.
- Godspeed
Thank you! :D
Red, this is a real BT Masterpiece! An ode to a Mech. Thank you for that and enjoy the success!
Wow, took me 4 days to get through this monster... great job, love the historical stuff...
Loved this Video it was great! Voice actors all did well and it is a good Mech. really happy to have seen how far your channels come.
Thank you Tellos, and thank you for helping make the video be possible. :)
Thanks Big Red and all the guests and artists, it was a great listen while I was working.
Fantastic video. All the information about the mech, its uses, and the clans that fielded it was very entertaining as well as informative. You really knocked this one out of the park sir.
Took 5 days to get through it in spare time, but, it was worth every second.
Tex was right, this was a great addition to your awesome collection of Battletech videos. Well done, keep it up.
Ah the clans…so much more civilised than the IS😂
And as a Snow Raven fan I really want a IIC in my forces now.
This was a great accompaniment to my hobby sessions this week, thank you for it!
This was a fantastic listen, Red! Good call.
Well done, Red. I took the time to listen to the whole thing because if someone who puts out quality content, I feel I ought to give you the full listen. It took a bit, as this was posted two weeks ago, but I have to say *ALL* of it was worth listening to.
Well done, sir. Well done.
Bargained well and done. I love the longer format with attention to history and lore. Great effort. More, please!!
Absolutely brilliant video, loved every minute of it. Take that week off dude, it's more than earned! 😊
Awesome vid, a big Thank you to all involved in creating it!
I'm really grateful to everyone who helped put this together. :)
Clanner killing Clanner. I love these feel good stories!
Hmm? I'm confused by the last sentence. I hope this video wasn't offputting XD
@@leohalivan861 Oh excellent! I was worried for a minute there. I was like "oh man. This is either praise, or scathing, and I can't tell" lol
Tis sad we won't see their like again :(
@@BigRed40TECH So True :(
Amazing video, fantastic guest voices, and four hours of Warhammer IIC! I was super excited to be able to contribute to the game play footage, keep up the great work!
Thank you Earthquake Johnson!
Oh hell yes Big Red! You are a legend. Thank you so much for your hard work. Amazing👏
Thank you! It was a ton of work XD
I really love and appreciate your amount of effort you put into your „Mech Reviews“ 😉
Awesome. Keep on going!
You are the best!!!
Sometimes you just need to produce something you can afford to lose to win a war. Plain victory is more important than trying to pursue the vanity of having an expensive but fragile overperformer.
Good enough is usually better than cutting edge.
I like the format of presenting the history of the setting as framework for the evolution and inspiration for the mechs. it helps make the setting feel alive.
I agree! It's something that I started a little bit 18 months ago, and the format's just evolved over time to be well, this. lol
Had to wait a couple days before seeing this Colossus of a video, but well worth the wait. It was great to hear the Beef, Tex, Mech Frog, Svan, and others in this vid.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Impressive video . My thanks to you and all those that helped you voice this Epic .
Glory to Marik whats up guys, ive been looking forward to this
This was an excellent video, you can tell that you really put your best into it. Four hours might seem a bit extreme, but I watched it while painting minis and found it to be great content.
This was such an adventure, and worth every piece of popcorn. As always I'm entertained, learn more on the setting and have the sources to find it all. An Awesome piece that I will make sure to watch again and again.
Thank you Wizards!
Thank you for covering this mech. I don't wholly agree in your view on mech logistics, but you argued your case expertly.
As for the minis, the Warhammer IIC's miniature sculpts are a rare case of the where the quality has just kept getting better.
I'm really happy with the current sculpt. Scroggin's did a great job designing it.
Man, o man, here we go! Thanks, red!!
Enjoy!
Internet: "What makes the Warhammer IIC an amazing mech?"
Big Red: "Let me tell you about the Amaris Civil War"
❤ well done on the video Red
Now I’m a Star Adders fan. Their capital planet, Sheridan, is the same as my youngest’s name :)
Its one of mt all time favorite mechs, glad to see a feature video on it, even if I had to wait a while so I could watch it all the way through in one go. (I'm not a Star Adder fan, but the glitch graphic of the Star League emblem flickering with a snake tail was a nice touch)
Loving the lore. Listening to it right now and absolutely loving it! Keep up the phenomenal work!
Thanks, will do!
@@pa_gaming_dad2810 Star Adder is King, so its okay. lol
Sven voicing the Star Adder Khan works so well!
I am excited to see what you have come Up with the war hammer being so iconic, this must have been a daunting task.
It was a lot of work.
Thank Blake for this excellent training and history course for future warfare.
Praise Blake.
