  • Welcome to Wonderful World of Darklords! In the spirit of April Fools, we're taking a break from Disney to look at another beloved animated film (and an even more beloved book). We like to watch it. It fills us with joy. The first time we saw it, we thought we were going to die. We said to each other, we must podcast about it, all of it, all there is! For nothing makes us happy but its shining and its grace.
    Topics discussed include:
    • The thread that unites almost every character's interactions with the unicorn in the movie and novel, and how to adapt that theme into interactions with your PCs;
    • Tips for letting your PCs fill the role of the unicorn in the story (since she's clearly the protagonist, and presumably none of your PCs are unicorns);
    • The difficulty of adapting a transcendently beautiful work of fantasy into a horror setting without violating the spirit of the source material;
    • An on-mic epiphany about the second genre of horror (the first is predictable);
    • And more!

    *On a cold empty beach, a young lad in an old gold cloak sat watching the waves. The moon was full and the sound of the sea was sad. Everywhere he had gone in this small kingdom, everyone looked so hungry. But, it was not for food, no the people were hungry for wonder, for amazement, and most of all, magic. It confused him how a people surrounded by wondrous things could be so blind to them. Suddenly, a small woman's voice broke the silence.* "It has been years beyond number since I last saw one of your kind." *The young lad turned to see a large unicorn standing behind him. Its coat was white as milk, its mane was like silver with stars dancing through it.* "What an honor it is to look upon one of the purist things in all the realms." The lad said with a smile. *The unicorn came closer.* "What brings you here fallen one?" *The lad shrugged his shoulders.* "No big reason just passing through as I always do; looking for people to help." *The unicorn sat next to him.* "And yet, you can never find the one you are looking for?" *The lad still smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes.* "That's true, we never can have what we want most and yet humans never stop trying."

    So what you're saying is the hardest part to DM for this. is that most people do not have Brandon Lee Mulligan's ability to do amazing monologues the drop of a hat
