Like many Coldplay songs, "Clocks" is about love. The lyrics are about being in a conflicted, but very intense relationship as precious time slips away. Furthermore, this song is a comment on the moral crises we face on a daily basis, as reflected in the line:
Am I part of the cure?
Or am I part of the disease?
Speaking about this lyric with MTV, Chris Martin said: "I reckon everybody in the world questions whether they're useful to the world or not." He continued: "Some people think they're doing marvelous things. Hitler thought he was doing great things for the world, and yet we'd all say, 'No, no, no, he was doing terrible things.' Some people would say that Coldplay is a great thing for music and the world. Other people would regard us as the devil incarnate, so of course it's always a conflict."
As someone with anxiety, I think the song is about someone suffering from anxiety.
Yes
Coldplay "SPEED OF SOUND" is awesome!!! ❤️ Gorgeous piano
One of my favorite modern Rock Bands....a lot of people don't like them ....I love them!!!! One of the few bands that play real instruments!!!
Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5...my 3 favorite 21st century era bands, and i know that i love ppl "hate" them, but i loveee them
I don't believe people hate Coldplay like they claim to. It became one of those cool things to say like disliking Eminem. I think it's because they became so big.
@@allbies i think it’s a similar situation to ed sheeran, truly great songs from years ago but the songs have become much more commercialised recently so it turns people off
They fell off in quality recently but they had a great 3-4 album run.
Even i don't like them I love them 😅
Just saw Coldplay in concert last month in Atlanta. Absolute 🔥💯 Amazing song - exceptional band! Keep going down the Coldplay rabbit hole.
I went to the Houston show. Such an experience and I kept my dang bracelet, lol.
@@leeparks15 OMG the bracelets were amazing! It added so much to the experience! The only thing I didn't like is how rough the fabric is on the $50 t-shirt I bought. 🤣 Scratchy!! I wanted to see them so bad. I actually hopped on a plane to ATL in the morning, attended the show at night, and was back on a plane home by 9am the next day. My concert goals were strong for Coldplay! 🔥😉
I went to the first parisian show last week. It was an unforgettable experience. Love this song even more live!!!
I was at Atlanta too!!!
not jealous at all
Wife here..WOW..Love Coldplay and especially this song!!.., Amazing how time can put such perspective on a song..!!.." Am I part of the cure or a part of the disease"..Gets to me 2!!..also the line.."Home home where I wanted to roam"..On the road as a Musician he's missing out on important moments of home life..,
Lots of good British bands out there from around this time.
Stone Roses, Radiohead, Travis, Charlatans UK, Oasis, James, etc.
What the British call "pop" music is better than what we call pop music here in the United States.
The Verve, Muse, Arctic Monkeys
So beautiful…. Love Coldplay. This song just builds and expands in your ears.
for me, this is one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard
Very melodic and relaxing song. One of the greats by Coldplay. Great review.
Yes, Coldplay everyday! My other favorites are Yellow, The Scientist, Fix You, Viva La Vida (I think you have done) and every one of their other songs! Great request; great reaction. Again, thank you Asia and BJ for all that you are doing to entertain us 🥰. -Joni
Don't Panic is another great one
Great recommendations!
Coldplay are a very very popular group in the UK. Please play more of them in the near future. You will not regret it.👍
Asia & BJ, you'll love their "Yellow", their first big hit!
Yep YELLOW & FIX YOU, are 2 of the best, and early work of COLPLAY. They are absolute classics. Pretty much everybody knows them, specially in Europe & South America. Yellow is from 22 yrs ago. I can't believe it. How time flies.
@@arsenalmanic I love “The Scientist,” myself. 💁🏻♀️
This record won a Grammy in 2002... best single!! No wonder it sounds familiar...
My fav Coldplay album is Parachutes. The whole album is stellar. Every song. ✌❤
I saw them perform live and this song was incredible. He played that piano so fiercly on stage. His chair was duct taped to the stage so it wouldn't slide away!
Love this one! I remember the first time I heard it, as it made quite an impression on me.
Thanks for listening
I really enjoy "A sky full of stars" from them. But so many hits!
Clocks is actually ambiguous. Its full of double meanings. Love yes, but life as well. Coldplay are amazing. Viva la vida is banging! Speed of sound is good too.
Great reaction! You guys described them perfectly. Coldplay - the king of earwarm songs, in a good way. 😄 Many to choose, but "The Scientist" is one of my favorites of theirs.
Yes!! It’s my favorite, too!! 💁🏻♀️
My favorite
One of the most amazing songs ever made. It’s beautiful. Also, I’d recommend reviewing their live version the did in Toronto. One of their best, and one of the most chilling lives ever performed. You won’t be upset
Already 20 years old... i was 7 when it released. Damn times flies. But i still remember the day i first heard it, since my Dad was and still is a big Coldplay fan.
Yep I remember this and really enjoy hearing their songs🥰 It's been awhile since I've listened to Cold Play and so happy I did!!! Thanks FAM❤️❤️
I just love Chris Martins' voice and piano stylings....this is from the years when he was married to Gwyneth Paltrow...it was a fun time!!
This and Speed of sound are my fav Coldplay songs but they have so many...A sky full of stars live is fantastic too! The crowd are an integral part of the live version.
I just love the bass that just sings in the background
My favorite of theirs! The BEST group of the 21st Century hands down of ANY genre!
The song I skydived too 15yrs ago. My aunt who was 60yrs old that day jumped to U2, Beautiful Day!! Great memories❤
I went to see them in concert and it’s an experience! They’re gonna stop in 2025 and I’m enjoying them while I can. I love my Coldplay! ♥️🧚🏻♀️🪐✨⚡️
No they said they gonna stop making albums not concerts...
@@kubarybczynski661 I know, I didn’t say the concert part.
Yeah, I love this song. Playlist for the car.
Coldplay is awesome. Love all their music. Fix You live in Sao Paulo next, please.
My favorite song. Thank you for reacting to it!
Hi Asia & BJ. Yes, this was a huge hit for Coldplay. I interpret the song title referring to time slipping away from us. That's just my perspective.
Brandy - '"Should I Go" is where you guys first heard the instrumental. That explains the nostalgia ❤
Coldplay is great!!! Yall should definitely do some of there live videos..they're awesome💛
You blessed bro with a wife like her☺️
Soon as the song came on I Was like... Yessssssssss🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🥰 When it's feel good music I'm a fan. They have a ton of fantastic songs.
Hymn for the Weekend by Cold Play featuring Beyonce is good too. The video is Breathtaking ☺️🤩. You should definitely watch that one and you'll see what type of band they are.
Love you, Kurt. Oh it's true. It's damn true.
The opening riff has been sampled many times and why you are likely familiar with it - but not the lyrics. It is a bit cryptic but lead singer Chris Martin said it boils down to how clocks tick ahead one second at a time at the same pace as always, but how we as humans are always seeing an urgency to time that can create a lot of confusion and problems when things don't go as speedily as we may like.
"The Scientist" is from the same era of Coldplay and is just as good. This time period was Coldplay's peak.
Love everything about this song and Coldplay. I've seen them 'live' a number of times and yes, Chris Martin plays the piano. I am happy and proud to have been born and live in Chris Martin's home city, Exeter. They (Coldplay) often come home to play local gigs, although the last time I saw them locally was in 2016 at Powderham Castle. They were amazing!
Very weird song structure to this one but they make it sound deceptively simple. That second album had some really special moments
***Beautiful! Hever Heard COLDPLAY Collab with BTS, "My Universe?"
Chris plays piano and guitar. All their lyrics are on point and make you think.
The whole "A rush of blood to the head" album is an absolute masterpiece. Every single song is amazing. I can highly recommend the whole album
Every Coldplay song pulls on the heart strings!! Amazing band!! 👍🏼
Saw them in Nashville in 2005. Best concert I’ve ever been to.
You are. It's like to be or not to be. I've heard this song a million times and never cared or knew what he was saying there. The song is beautiful!
Awesome choice this is one of my favorite Coldplay songs. The song "Fix You " is another great song by Coldplay it is very emotional and always brings a tear to my eye
Gotta react to Trouble. It's a Masterpiece 💕
Agreed. I love 'Trouble" from Coldplay 😍 My favorite song of them
The music of Clocks was used in a TV commercial (but I can't remember which). That's why it sounds familiar. Good reaction! Keep 'em coming!
Lead singer Chris Martin and American actress Gwyneth Paltrow married on 5 December 2003 in a quiet ceremony in the presence of their friends and family. Their daughter Apple was born in May 2004 in London.
Paltrow filed for divorce in April 2015 and it was finalised on 14 July 2016.
I noticed someone below mentioned the band "James". They have an excellent song called "Laid".
Chris Martin the writer lead singer plays the piano like Freddie Mercury so there's always gonna be piano in the mix.theg also use the visuals of videos to get the lyrics and or feel of the song across.
Home... home.. where I wanted to go... the best lyrics ever.
Off to see Coldplay at Wembly stadium, London, in 3 weeks. They are currently on a world tour. 😛
Coldplay is a feeling.
You have to watch Coldplay live , pretty amazing
Great song and reaction!🤠🤓
Just an incredible song! That piano. This is EARLY Coldplay. They were SO much better back then. Anything from this album “A Cold Rush a Blood to the Head” is phenomenal. Every single song. I no longer listen their stuff. They’ve become too commercialized. Which, unfortunately happens way too frequently. It’s all about money in the end.
I’m old enough to remember them in their early career. First three albums was their best work, I agree with you. I credit their expansion into electronic sounds, and they have made some decent pop tunes here and there! But the early stuff for me, is just on another level. It feels more ‘timeless.’
I completely agree with you.
Greatest band of the 21st century. Specially the earlier tunes, such as this. However you need the OFFICIAL VID as well. Different feel.
I know you probably know these title songs, but anyway : "yellow", "the scientist", "fix you", "viva la vida"
Jus listen to the composition of the songs, and the instrumentals of coldplay songs. Uplifting, melodic, euphoric, mesmerizing, relaxing, thought provoking. The current songs (past 10 yrs), although good, can't touch the early stuff.
There is youtube videos of a particular tour in Rio De Jeniro Brazil. The live performances are great. Even if you don't react to them, just watch them later if you have spare time. However not before you react to the official songs first :))
"Fix you" ❣️
A great song by Coldplay. It takes my imagination away.
I also love Coldplay’s ‘The Hardest Part’ (has possibly THE worst vid of all time 😅) and their beautiful song ‘Don’t Panic.’ I haven’t seen anyone react to those but they are great. Ty for this one though.
All that matters is that it's getting out there...the real side of life the truth..that's real and Coldplay spits it man in the realist
My Favorite Song! Great Choice!
Classic. You should check out a handbell ensemble of this song. It's really good.
My favorite Coldplay song!!
The music might sound familiar because Brandy sampled it in her song "Should I Go" back in the early 2000s.
This is one of my ringtones 👍🏼🎶🔥
You guys are my favorite reaction team by far. Love Y'all.
Peter Gabriel and this guy do Washing of the Water at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction for Peter.....really cool.
The piano is just the theme song to Halloween. Prove me wrong.
🤣😂🤣 I totally hear it now.
In my top ten soulful haunting Melodie’s,up there with Chris isaacs “wicked game” and Gino Vanellis’ wild horses.
Check out Coldplay ‘Amsterdam’. Very cool.
more Coldplay reactions please
They put me in a good mood ! ❤
Highly recommend reacting to their live performances. There famous worldwide and have been voted numerous times as the best live concert or the year. I recommend fix you in San paolo.
I never listened to them much but the songs I've heard have been great.
You should change that and go through every song of every single one of their albums! You are missing out on so much great music!
They played for the superbowl halftime show...with bruno mars and shakira, I believe.
This song was massive when it came out - I remember the first time hearing this band, their break out song was “Yellow”. “ Trouble” was also another great song. Personally I prefer their earlier stuff.
Same here , their first 2 albums belters , then after that they became more of a singles band )for me anyway. )
@@stu2333 I like the first 4 albums, after that it became extremely commercial. X&Y is really good for me, Viva la vida became already quite commercial but still could vibe to it! ;)
I bought my first cell phone in 2002 and this was the first ringtone i bought for $0.99 lol .... love this song still.
Check out some ‘Snow Patrol’ from the same era, very similar vibe. Suggest ‘Chasing cars’ or ‘ Run’(which you may know as it has been covered by loads of artists)
This song used to be on HBOs displays of the movies etc they had out at that time
Yall have to do the remix with legendary Cuban band Buena Vista Social Club! Its a beautiful blend!
Never understood the lyrics but don't care just love the song. You could count on one hand the number of reactors who do Coldplay.
Some people are very good in music 🤝
Big fan of Coldplay and this song. Also recommend "Green Eyes".
I love Coldplay.. the scientist and fix you are two of my favourites.. can you do some Lewis Capaldi xx
Brandy - Should I Go, sampled the piano from this song, maybe that's where you've heard it?
look at where their first single was hitting the charts, it is called "yellow"
The beginning might remind you of “When love takes oves” by Kelly Rowlland and David Guetta. It’s practiclly the same, only electronic, from what I remember.
They simply sampled that piano from Coldplay song.
Coldplay are brilliant !!!!!!!
Please do more Coldplay. They’re the best band worldwide. Their live shows are the best.
Coldplay should be somewhere saved as a genre of its own. Like a Bible
Asia and BJ you two are awesome I highly recommend the comedian Steve Martin’s song Pretty Little One. Yes he also sings✌️😁👍
This is one of the most popular piano riffs in pop history, I’m sure you guys have heard this song even if you didn’t realize it
Check out Speed Of Sound
We should have watched the official music video. It gives it a different feel.✌️😊💜 oh and you should check out their song with Beyoncé….that is a beautiful music video!!! Trust me on this one!🥰
The reason why you guys might think the intro/piano was so familiar is because there is another song sang by another artist that had the same if not similar sound to it and i know of the song but i forget the name of it and who sang it.
So update i went through a rabbit hole. the song that im talking about is a david guetta song called when love takes over featuring kelly rowland the piano part yea when i first heard this david guetta song back then i immediately thought this is a coldplay rip off hahaha because i started listening to coldplay before the era of EDM music went bigger to what we know now
Chris Martin on the piano.
Also don't make fun of me for saying y'all because I'm from Michigan. The dude who taught me work was from Texas. ;)
