Hello everyone and welcome to Age of Wonders 4, Archaon the Everchosen has made landfall in the Lands of Eo to Chosen Destroyer everyone and everything! If you'd like to jump to creating Archaon and his faction, go to 4:38; if you'd like to hop straight in to the campaign, skip ahead to 11:20. This will be my first time playing a Chosen Destroyer, which is arguably the strangest Society Trait, but I'm sure nothing could possibly go wrong. wanted to let you know for the future since I think it'll help. You don't have to keep a unit or even an army on a city for it to be razed. once you click it you are free to move around.
@@skullreaper7102 This is true! But Razing can be canceled if someone else walks on top of its primary tile, so I tend to keep something around just incase. In the instance of Slampit, I also want to clear the City Ruins to build a work camp for the Magical Material, which will require someone there.
I think archon should be able to use a lance cause his regiment of renwon was chaos night unit with spears and lore wise it would fit him more cause a lot of his fight are on his legendary sharpshooting mount where he charging right to them with his spear
Huh, that feels like it's unintended, but it certainly would've been fitting for the Three Eyed King. That said, the new axe+shield opens up another stacking synergy that I'm interested in testing out. 😈
@@Fableheim I think it is intentional, those are two different abilities but with the same effect and name, they are both listed under hero's abilities, basically it would nullify either the effect ot the sword or the mount, which wouldn't be logical, so only accaptable outcome is that both work together.
I’m glad they decided to give beards to Dragoons and Berserkers. Kinda honored that they agreed with my mod enough to change it. Unfortunately still a lot of Dwarf units that end up beardless but there’s another mod that existed before my one that sorts them out. 😅
Dwarf cavalry being beardless only shows that only the deeply shunned and shameless lower class dwarf are punished to be cavalry... a very disrespected position in a dwarf army... dwarf rather would have no cav at all...
About Infestations, if you put your units in their territory, the patrolling army will attack you, if you far enough, you can fight wandering and guarding stacks separately.

When I saw Ikit Claw's name show up I got so excited. One of my favorite Skaven lords was gonna have a role! Then his picture showed up and when I saw a anime girl version of Ikit Claw... I think a piece of my soul died. I didn't need to see that Fable.
45:56 - You have 'Hero resurgence' probably on - had to be in the map setup before You've started the game. So after won battle - all Heroes are back on the victory side.
Hero Resurgence is only enabled for Auto-Combats in the settings at 3:57, but there is a setting beneath it about Defeated Heroes set to Winner. I'll have to take a look at it for next series -- thanks!
@@Fableheim when you got into the Forbidden Shrine, you did auto combat first, then played it manual. Maybe there's a bug by which the game considers you played auto combat (and therefore The Everchosen was resurrected as specified in the realm setup) when you click on it, even if you play the actual combat aftewards. Or maybe it was just the Chaos Gods, as you foretold.

I thought when you go into wonders your leader gains Expedition leader which means they're always resurrected if atleast one other unit survived and you win the fight
Lore reason for Styrkaar to get everything unusual for him, considering that he worships Slaanesh, is trying something new {because he got bored}, or Fetish {he might enjoy torment people with different elements}. He could be the Embodiment of "Joke's on you, I'm into that shit!" PS: I remembered of this "Mage & Demon Queen" the friend of MC is into Snake Ladies in Stockings.
I'm going to copy these starting culture traits for my next playthrough, looks fun... probably on a medium size map too so a tier 1 rush could get a cc ity or two
I know I am too late for this but the Grarg Orcs are actually very much into slavery which made them very rich if frowned upon by other Orcs due to lack of honor - you never encounter them in CoE so this is something you cannot learn there.
I had idea: Barbarian Felines with poisonous trait and Demonic transformation, the name of the race either Manticores, or Scorpicores Not saying that you need to create them, just pointing out that you can try to create some races based of Mythological creatures, there aren't many options currently, next DLC should help.
I heavily debated not including Gor in this playthrough, because his description is basically word-for-word what we know about the Primal Culture. Maybe he'll have to make a return.
31:50 I didn’t understand why you took Seafaring. The unmodded Land map doesn’t have any water on the overland map, because it has a parameter in the random map generator that transforms all water into mountains.
Sorry, I didn't explain my reasoning. I picked Seafaring to traverse the underground waterways. At the time, I was thinking about some overly ambitious offense against Blint using what I had found at 26:17.
Ianna could have Slaver Trait, as breaking the will of the enemy and brainwashing them, so they follow her. As for Magic Tomes, you need to handpick those that affect morale in some way, or affect Relationship in some way, it would be the mix of different affinities, don't forget about Nymphs and those Flying Fishes. You can't make AI Faction with such parameters, but, you can try to roleplay as this kind of character.
@@Fableheim Faction could end being strong, but, it'll definitely will be a process to not make a mess of the faction. Maybe the Forth DLC can help, or maybe we'll get something helpful in the Third one, there is mentioning of Fey, currently it's only speculation.
@@Erligan I expect the fourth DLC to be more about the many Astral creatures and manipulating the void that created them. Fae in the next DLC is certainly an idea, but I'm kind of expecting more wildshape/lycanthropy stuff.
The word inveigled is pronounced IN-VAY-GULLED & it means "to persuade someone to do something by means of flattery or deception". It's a word I've only ever come across a few times & never knew how to pronounce it, so you stumbling over the word by leaving the "g" silent instead of pronunciating it, like I've always done while reading it in my head, motivated me enough to look it up 😅 Edit: typos

Hey man always enjoyed your age of wonders 4 runs. I haven't played since release because the AI was hot trash. But I hear tell it's gotten better. It just used to be so passive it wasn't fun. But I think now that it's had time to cook in the oven perhaps it's not as bad and I should give it another try. Any ways great video as usual. Love the way you build charachters.
The AI is certainly more active on the overworld than it was in the past, so it's a good time to try it out again! The battle AI has improved as well, but it still has funny moments.

@@ducanhvu-my1ii I'd probably do something like this: Bretonnia - Human Feudal Estalia - Human Feudal or Reaver Halflings - Halfling Feudal Nippon - Human Oathsworn (any subculture) Albion - Orc (closest thing we have to Giants atm) or Human Primal Storm Crow Ind - Human Feudal or Feline Barbarian Amazon - Human Primal Sylvan Wolf Tilea - Human Feudal or Reaver Araby - Human Feudal For the various Human cultures, a lot of the differences would come down to playstyle. For example, Tilea was renowned for its wealth and mercenaries (most famously the Dogs of War), so their playstyle would be involve integrating other cultures, accepting bounties, and negotiating with other Godir. The new Vigilante Knights society trait fits them perfectly. On the other hand, the Arabyan Kingdoms were far more insulated and had either apathetic, strictly business, or even hostile relationships with other Human territories. They would want to be played more aggressively by migrating cities and establishing a lot of Vassals under their iron fist, or even as a Hermit Kingdom of sorts.
@@ducanhvu-my1ii The closest thing for the Ogre Kingdoms right now is the Orc Form as Barbarians. The new Society Trait Vigilante Knight also plays very well in to their mercenary lifestyle.
I could see it working as an incredibly hostile isolationist faction. From a functionality perspective, I believe Hermit Kingdoms affects every city that doesn't share a border with another player, so you would benefit from being able to create new cities.
The mod is surprisingly well balanced, and the AI does use the modded units! I think the only complaint that one would have is that the mod fills in the weaknesses of Cultures, making them slightly more homogenous. That and I'm pretty sure Reavers aren't included yet.

I checked Tyrant's Sword and Shield, with Nightmare mounts, the Aura was triggered TWO times, so apparently it works.
