- Shotgun break in! How to break in a semi auto shotgun. Use a heavy hunting load and put 100 shells through your new shotgun. Every 9-10 shells, take a 2 minute break to let the barrel cool down and lubricate the action. If at any point your barrel gets too hot, take a 20 or 30 minute break to let the barrel cool. After 100 shells your shotgun will be ready to cycle light target and hunting loads.
You did more in 2 minutes than I've done all morning. 😂
Some days it’s nice to just relax! 😎
That looks painful!! 😂
Shoulder always hurts the day after a break in 😂
Try to stand square to the target with both of your shoulders facing the target. You will handle recoil much better, you won't be around the place with your barrel and you can go back on target quicker.
What? It’s not a pistol or AR. Watch any Olympian or pro trap shooter.
@@RUclipsCensorsAndSuppressesno, Andrews comment is correct. You can tell because buddies muzzle touches the sky after every shot and he gets pushed back by the shotgun. With proper technique the muzzle doesn’t climb and stays on target and the person shooting doesn’t get pushed around by the gun. Watch any 3 gun competitor. There’s a small female world champion who shoots a 12 gauge and her muzzle barely moves when she shoots a full speed.
Nice
Hey buddy I just recently learned of the push pull technique and I can barely feel the recoil on my shoulder now. My muzzle stays on target too. You look much stronger than me I bet with that technique you could learn to shoot like an absolute beast.
I will check that out, thanks for the feedback! 🙏
What velocity rounds were you using?
1550 FPS
your shoulder was super red after that😂
It was sore for at least 2 days 😂
What kind of lubricating spray is that ?
Rem Oil
Will it cycle light target loads after that?
Yessir! After I broke in this gun, it cycled dove and target loads with no issues.

What loads did you use for this break in?
Started with Heavy loads 1&1/4 oz. When I ran out(50 shells), switched to light loads 7/8 oz and they all cycled fine.
