thank you so much, my first attempt on my m1918 repro was horrible, with bright colors. this helps a lot and i will use this as a reference for my second attempt.
I believe the order given out specified some form of green (whatever shade appropriate), rust brown, and a yellow tan. However the color pattern was allowed to be changed depending on the session.

I am a 57, and i wonder couse on their website all the outher helmets are the same, only the liner you can het in different sizes, wonder how it will look on my head compared to someone else his size

It was already destroyed by someone who was maybe, planning to "restore" it. The outside had been wire wheeled, and primered. I was able to strip the inside to maybe 40% original paint. I figure 20% original paint with a re-pop liner, chin strap and new camouflage paint job is better than a primer grey shell. Anyone reading this, please don't try to "restore" an original without consulting people who actually know. A crusty, rusty, ORIGINAL, is more valuable and historically significant than a "restoration."
@@l.cressey6806 Oh I am. I've already stripped the primer. I found OG paint under the primer inside the helmet. Which I left OG. The outside had been fully stripped before it was primed. So it unfortunatly retained zero original paint. A fact which I very carefully confirmed before proceeding. I've since laid down a correct shade of field green on the outside. I've obtained original split pins and an original M17 liner ring. Next on the docket is new leather to be installed on the liner ring. Then I'll be putting it all back together and doing the camouflage paint. I'm also looking for original steel chinstrap parts to incorporate into a replacement chinstrap. Any leads greatly appreciated. Just saying, if you find great grand dad's souvenir from the big one in the attic. Don't just throw a camouflage paint job on it because the original paint is ugly and a little rusty.

I suspect by the time I finish, it will be worth about what I will have into it, and that mostly has to do with how little I paid for the shell, many years ago. Occasionally I've seen strap hardware on ebay, usually it's the early brass hardware. Mine came with steel. There was still one of the end pieces installed when I got it. I figured I'd throw it out that I'm looking just in case the right person happens to see this. Prairie Flower Leather Co. told me they could make me a strap and substitute in any original hardware I could gather.
Question from what I have read, while this pattern did exist I believe that the black was supposed to be 2 fingers width by order, or was I just reading up on everything wrong?

C Bl Sounds like a pretty kosher setup. Don’t know about chinstrap parts but I’d recommend eBay and find an original.

Right now repros are sold out almost everywhere. (I'm blaming BF1 for that) and originals you will have to hunt down and they won't be cheap.
