Hello from the UK. Even though we have very different climates, I like to watch and learn something new each time. In my sunny flower border I have a row of Calamint and Achemilla Mollis in the front. With Salvia and Roses behind and Clematis on the fence. The pink, purple, white and yellow is very English cottage. I've seen Liatris grown here but never one that tall before!

Ha! As a Floridian, I love watching Monty Don and his crew and have Alan Titchmarsh's "How to be a Gardener" episodes backed up on hard drive. Can't grow a lot of the things they do down here, but a lot of the practices carry over.

This was just the BEST video! I learned so much from Leah about things to watch for, such as the Calamint, where she talks about how it will go through this heavy flowering period, and then kind of brown out. That's exactly what happened to mine several years ago when I was new to native gardening, and I thought it had died for good. If only I had known when to trim it back! This explains why it's so important to share as much information about native plants as possible, in addition to sun/shade and water requirements and which pollinators it attracts. This was such a great video, Jacqueline. Thanks so much for doing this one! Can't wait to see how it all looks in your yard. :)

I wish I was closer to Tampa! I might have to take a road trip one day- it’s about 90 min from us. I took good notes, and will see if my local nursery carries them!

Beautiful flowers. I'm pretty sure I've been seeing the Sunflower growing along our road sides. Their beautiful. My golden rod is doing good also but leaning to. 😅 Great video 😊😊

I've seen woodland sage growing wild on the roadside in Marion County where it was quite dry, so I am guessing it is indeed adaptable. I tried collecting/germinating seed, but no luck.
Sorry, my mistake, I was thinking of Lyreleaf.

Can you tell me what basil you use that survives and thrives in your zone? I am zone 10a but on the other coast of Florida.

I grow sweet basil between tomato plants. The tomatoes shade the basil a bit, and the basil deters pests. Win-win!
Best grower, though, is Trinity basil, or Thai basil.

I’m looking for a high bush native plant besides coco plum for a shady area? Trying to block my neighbors bright light 😂
