What a nice soul to the lady offering rides during the strike.
These goofs wants a 25% increase over 3 years, jacking all their salaries to 115k and 147k before OT. That means the cost will be passed onto the customers, higher monthly passes.
Which union got 25 percent? The bus drivers and nurses only got 12 13 percent.
And the job title is mechanics not even engineers. Lots of engineers won't get paid at this level.
Bless that woman for doing everyone a solid deed 👊🏻
Translink CEO is an absolute snake. Transit is an essential service, there should be no strikes in this sector. The CEO is the reason why there are no bus services. Get rid of him. Replace him with Ai, and all of the sudden the company has money to pay their workers livable wage and retirement. Who would have known that by replacing these "leaches" with computers would make all issues go away. i seriously think we should re-think our relationship with useless CEOs in this new era of Ai. It's time we the people replace these bad actors who leach of ALL the rest of us.
They're sick, and they're making the world around us sicker. Taking us all down, pointing fingers at the unions and workers who are just fighting for bare minimum in the never ending pit of rising costs and rich, getting richer.
What a disgraceful company. Can't even do it's job. Shameful.
Lol i found one of those 180 greedy goofs
They fail to realize that a lot of healthcare workers also take transit. This further burdens the healthcare field due to shortstaff.
@@Xylophone8 I definitely don't support greedy bus supervisors wanting to get paid more than essential workers like healthcare workers. I hope there is like a month bus strike when they themselves are hospitalized and we will see who will attend to them then. If they could have copied the strike in Japan instead, majority of public would have supported them. There are better ways to strike without fuckin' up 300,000+ people for the benefit of 80 people.
@@Xylophone8 ok goof
After riding with them for 30+ years, this attitude is not unexpected. Cmbc has excellent wages so that greed is obvious. Excellent benefits packages. Ridiculous.
Exactly, so how long have you been working for them?
@@traviscutler9912 I dont work for cmbc/translink. i just know by research.
im not saying thank you when i leave the bus anymore
Just so everyone is clear. The bus drivers and seabus staff are not the ones on strike. Its the supervisors who are striking. Drivers/operator's are caught in the cross hairs.
Absolutely ridiculous. This is an essential service period. I used to work for the liquor board and when COVID happened and businesses were shutting, we were deemed an essential service and ordered to work. So how is transit allowed to strike? Absolute BS. And the wage increases will mean increased fares. Everyone wants more money but no one should have the power to screw so many people
act your age and get a car
Act your age get a bike
@@GOLMINER2sit down goof
NDP is in bed with unions and will never kick em out.
@@GOLMINER2 goof
They are probably making well over 30 bucks a hour to drive a vehicle. I understand how expensive it is , but families, individuals, seniors and disabled people need these services to pick up medication, go to work, get sheltered etc. i do heavy labor for 20 bucks a hour, and it sucks, but such is life
Vancouver just flat out sucks
@@Xylophone8 Yeah, the union will actually phone you at home to give you sh*t for not taking all your breaks, so if you want to make great money for doing sweet fk all, join a union. Definitely!!
@@Xylophone8 I am familiar with it. I worked for a union for years, and I actually got a phone call at home one day admonishing me for working through my breaks. They promote laziness! They're a fkn joke.
@@Xylophone8Working on it
@@Xylophone8 you struggling lmao
All transit users who hold a monthly pass should also strike on February 1 and not pay fares on that day
It is union that go on strike not cmbc lockout the drivers. Besides, it is bus drivers and seabus operators chose not crossing the picket line and results no bus running on the street. Therefore, by not paying fares, would that punish the union? The answer is No.
@@johnyu2047 ...actually, your logic is incorrect. The fact that these are merely public sector workers and they are not affected whether traveling customers pay or not ....for the next 3 weeks, or 6 months or 2 years. The workers don't care about anything. They show up for their shift, ....do what they are being paid to do ....and collect their weekly paycheque. Holding back on paying the fare will simply hurt ALL taxpayers because there won't be any revenue to pay for the workers .....so TAXES will go up accordingly to pay for the lost revenue.
The problem is PUBLIC SECTOR UNIONS. PUBLIC SECTOR UNIONS have "rights" .....AND CANADIAN TAXPAYERS HAVE NO "RIGHTS".
.
Should be 2 days or even more since they have a 2 day strike. Not counting the lost wages this strike costed thousands of commuters.
Drivers will not mind. They don’t want to hear your speech though, please just board, say a word or two and keep moving
If you paid for a pass ask for your money back. In the meanwhile, check with your neighbors if they know someone in the neighborhood who heads that way with a car daily, and maybe you can hitch a ride for a short while.
Drivers are the hardworkers and they get 12% and these supervisor who dont do anything want 25% greedy. I hope the poor drivers who are not even on strike get paid for these 48 hours
#TransLink
Coast mafia bus company
bad timing, just after snow
feel bad for parents who take transit
It was expected to be high impact. Make no mistake it was orchestrated to take place in bad weather.
Lot's of people would love to have these jobs. But these guys still want more.
U should apply then? Clearly u r not qualify
Fired them all.
Need to wake up! If they don't want their job, replace them all.
If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk.
ongoing philosophical debate.
how to balance rights of consumers and public
with that of workers
Greaaat. And the fares will soon go up as well
They need to prove at the service will be 25 percent better than before. Otherwise... Automation is needed asap. This type of move doesnt help the people of the lower mainland.
Some coverage on this would have actually been news BEFORE Monday morning. I had some awareness of issues w/ some bus routes lately but didn’t know that it had extended to the SeaBus until I arrived for the first sailing this morning.
I have seen no mention of this in my U📺 subs feed until now. Similarly w/ the CBC News app, I’ve had lots of notifications but NOT ONE about the strike action. I sure have seen posts about a guy making a shovel out of junk for seniors more than a dozen times & the breaking news that is “critical to my life” that American Ron DeSantis dropped out of a primary race that had been a foregone conclusion since well before it started. And just now breaking news about an avalanche that involved 7 ppl in Terrace. But notifications about a strike action that affects the entire lower mainland after a weekend ? Nah, not critical news until the evening after ppl have been affected.
Granted, coverage was available in the CBC had one known to look for it or happened to be browsing. But I was under the apparently mistaken impression that I could rely on the CBC to ensure ppl were aware of what was the biggest news story in the lower mainland before this morning. 🤦♂️😡😤
If they increase their salaries, they will have to increase the fare prices
We have a lot of unemployed people in the city that could gladly take over these jobs. It's not rocket science, it's bus driving ffs.
i mean they could fire everyone & replace them but i think it'd take longer to interview, hire, & train hundreds of new people than it would to compromise with the workers. i'm not originally from bc but i think they'd need something higher than a class 5 license
@@rileynavarra7652 it would take longer for sure, but it would send a message. You need a class 2 license in BC to drive a bus. Not difficult to obtain.
😮Uber is all about price gauging
Vancouver is the worst city ive ever known, and ive travelled alot. Its boring, horrible weather, its full of quiet snobs, and its expensive. Not worth living there if you asking me

Vancouver is the absolute worst.
Good one, CBC. Thanks for the coverage.
Yes! Do lots of good sis! And may it come back to you 100xs in blessings!❤❤❤❤
Transit has cut break times. The schedules times are shortened so its almost impossible to complete. Imagine driving hours withoot a break and eating lunch while driving. They have bad conditions that could cost lives. Two days is nothing. Support Drivers!
Cupe 4500 transit supervisor’s are on strike not the bus driver’s.
you're the clueless type of person who doesnt pay attention and will stand at the bus stop when they arent running.
Is it actually possibly not to know at this point that it's the supervisors who are on strike? Jeez!!
Prob not a good idea right before the world has self-driving buses and cabs.
Lmao, gotta love those unions, I’d pull a Ronald Reagan and give them 12 hrs to get back to work or be fired.
@1:15 this guy looks familiar…wasn’t he a news anchor before?
Guess I’ll go and apply for unemployment reason no transportation buses shut down, so I need to be reimbursed for the wages, lost henceforth
Holding working people hostage so they can make few bucks more.
who wouldn't support that cause?🙄🤦♂
Do what Japan do, drive but don't collect fares.
I know right. They could have gotten the support of the public if they did what happened in Japan. But no, they only have the guts to screw commuters.
A nice time for a private sector
The government should cancel city buses. The wages and benefits of their bus drivers are already very good for ordinary people. If they are not satisfied, they want to go on strike? I drive dangerously every day on the road, causing road congestion. I don’t know what bus drivers do to support these dangerous drivers? The wages and benefits are higher than those of ordinary families. The wages that others earn through physical exertion are not as good as a bus driver’s salary for a week. I hope the bus companies will be abolished except increasing road congestion. I don’t know what else they can do! Never give bus drivers any salary increase
We need more people like this woman that offers free ride god bless her abundantly 👏
I for one support the union. Bus drivers work very hard, little breaks (that I know of) and have to deal with some unsavory people. Especially people under the influences expecting free rides. I seen many bus drivers get verbally abused. Sea bus operators have a hard time too especially working in bad weather. I can't imagine having to take people across in choppy waters to their destinations safely. These guys deserve a wage increase!!!! The province of BC and the municipalities could do their part to help make things better.
Just to be clear though this is not the drivers on strike just the supervisors. The ones driving the SUV’s around…..
The transit punctuality nowadays is a joke. You can't expect the bus to start on time, not even at the terminus station.
Really? My brother's a bus driver. Says it's the easiest job he's ever had.
@@KKK-o9l When I think of things being on time, I think of Japan rather than of Amtrak, Via Rail or even at times local transit (given where I live, the TTC).

SFU MENTIONED 🗣 🗣 🗣 WTF IS A NORMAL SEMESTERRRRRRRRRRRRR
Corporate greed. Drivers need to look after their own families. Why are people shitting on them for that. Not their problem how people chose to get around. Blows my mind how shallow people are towards others when it’s an inconvenience to them but don’t think deeper about the situation but themselves. Most people complaining are speaking from jealousy that they don’t have a union that fights for them for better wages. Cry me a river
Except the bus drivers are not on strike lol
👏 to the lady
That lady is breaking the strike.
Thanks. If she's helping people to a hospital for sre..but picking up from the airport when the skytains running? Not
let the transit all fall they have been greedy too long and most ppl will have a car by then we dont need them. Hrer is an idea up All the wages .. now 4 the common.
According to Tom Tom traffic index 2023 , Vancouver ranks 32nd in the world for traffic and pollution from cars . Toronto ranks 3 rd in the world for the worst traffic and greenhouse gas and Montreal ranks 103 and the best city in Canada .
If Uber driver ask where you going don’t tell them where you going they just going to reject your ride
Dubdeker bus is Vancouver we are very not happy with with not many bus on the road we what the car off the road more bus is please a thakyou please let me know
Who provided the ground radar that you used to accuse nuns and priests of being mass child-murderers?
What do you mean a tax subsidized public service is on strike. Talk to my lawyer
Who needs a ride? Quick, everyone buy a bike!
i would not let my wife do this.
you dont know whos out there
I don’t support the bus Driver。no even the Union?
lol !!
Thanks to the liberal goofs
Transit isn’t a federal jurisdiction. There’s always as least one who makes the leap to blaming
Just give them the money. Why are you fucking around? Just give them the money end of story everybody happy.
LMAO WHY DONT YOU GIVE IT TO THEM?
Management want to keep ALL the money , workers can have only peanuts
