Great Video. I 100% agree with dressing for our lifestyle. I also put all my office clothes away since I now work from home and what's on my closet is what I wear on a daily and weekly basis. It's so refreshing and time saver! :)
Such a good idea! For me (and many others it seems), this just helps cut down on clutter/ and decision making in the mornings. Thank you so much for watching x
I am currently revamping my wardrobe and your video came right on time! I love that you encourage people to dress intuitively rather than what’s “in style” and the rest will follow!
Your point about shopping for our fantasy self is a point I rarely hear from style vloggers and bloggers. It’s a great point to make. When I’m considering items to buy I’m always thinking how does this fit with what I have, how many outfits can I create with it mixed with what I already have and of course the clothing has to fit my lifestyle. When I see a piece I need to immediately know where I’m going to wear it. Either the office, or on the weekends, going out in the evening, etc.
Thank you Summer! I heard about it somewhere a few years ago and realised I was 100% shopping for my fantasy self who lives in NY or Paris and works a very creative job haha. Since then, I've tried to keep this in mind and it absolutely helps :)
I really enjoyed how you integrated the pieces you showcased in your wardrobe and not constantly bombarding us with so many pieces. It’s also clear that you put so much work into editing! ✨✨ really love your content💕
Thank you Merve, I'm so glad you enjoyed it :) I am always trying to find a way to balance helpful & responsible content with new-in stuff to make sure it's not just a bunch of shopping/ads.
I enjoyed your collection of tips and tricks to get out of a style rut. I’m in the process of putting together a new wardrobe after significant weight loss. I see this as a chance to really dress to please myself and my style. The tricks and tips you mentioned will be useful in my journey. I’ve had an overly full closet for many years and the feeling that I have nothing to wear. Here’s to inspiration and feeling great in my clothes ❤️
Your How-to is so helpful, inspiring and well-spoken! This subject of “the style journey” can sometimes be fraught and anxiety-inducing, but your gentle and down-to-earth approach makes it feel relaxing and attainable. Love absolutely all your content and looking forward to more how-to’s! 💕
Nice video, thanks from a new subscriber in San Francisco. I do move wrong-season clothes into storage (on hangers, except for sweaters), it helps a lot to give clarity. I have a huge wardrobe, but I love and wear everything in it. My advice is not to give away more formal, corporate clothes until they are out if style or don’t fit, instead store them as you did. They are expensive and might be needed again.
this video was so great!! i have a habit of going through pinterest and pinning outfits but not going back to find the patterns of what i like. did a major closet clean out recently, and i’m trying to find joy in the pieces i’ve decided to keep. this will help me do that!
I'm so happy you enjoyed! I only started doing the Pinterest thing as I film YT videos, but then it just became a great way to elevate my personal style. Good luck with your style journey x
My goodness Helen I love it! So many great tips! Now I need to actually use them. And thanks for saying that we don’t need to buy or declutter anything! Just need to look at what we already have ♥️
Thank you for always sharing your graceful chic styling ideas. I have very much appreciated your past purchasing and merchandise information videos and also found this video very motivating and beneficial.
I enjoy wardrobe maintenance, too, even ironing, if I can keep cool. I am fortunate to have a laundry room (rough and unfinished, but still) with a little nook where I keep my sewing machine set up. So, I leave anything that needs work, laundering, steaming, ironing, polishing, alterations or repairs) there until I get to it. That way, everything in my closet is ready to wear.
Great tips Helen! I really like the one about taking pieces out of your wardrobe and inspecting them so you know what you have. I suppose if I were to add something maybe taking photos of all your pieces or using a wardrobe app (I use Cladwell) could be the good too. Also maybe taking photos of your favourite outfits (I really should do that more myself lol)
Sure! And yea it is! They also give you outfit suggestions based on like the weather and what you have in your wardrobe and you can split things into capsules. It’s really great.
I’m actually inspired by your fashion style especially your choices of dress 🥰🥰 that’s why I’ve been drawn to a lot of dresses lately even tho I am busty and petite 😢
Excellent video! I recently changed jobs and what used to be my everyday clothes is now not practical and is too dressy for my new job, I needed these tips!
Yay I'm so glad, thank you! My name is actually Helen, my channel name means 'light of Helen' something that I came up with on a whim when I started my blog many many years back. It does often feel a bit confusing & random haha x
Love your channel so much x great video ☺️💕 I always love really minimalist styling but definitely also like a bit of a feminine vibe at times and your style has made me feel like it’s ok to mix both aspects of those styles and still look chic and feel like myself x
Really helpful video, thank you! I need to do step 2 asap because there's a bunch of clothes in my closet that either don't fit because I've gained a little weight during the pandemic (which is fine) or that are too formal to wear while working at home. Or both. 😄 You're right: there's no point in keeping those clothes in my closet because they do make me feel less inspired when I try to pick an outfit.
i have many dresses and skirts because i wanted to be girly or feminine but i NEVER wear them 🥲 first of all i bike to places i needed to be. and i live in a windy country?area?. i tried once and i think i flashed a couple drivers. i also buy a lot of heels and sandals to go with the feminine aesthetic but since i dont wear the dresses, i dont get to wear the sandals as well 😭 i wanted to declutter them but i also i really love them 😭
I can totally relate to this. Partially the reason I don't wear shorter skirts as much but wearing shorts inside is definitely the way to go as Raquel has suggested :) If you love them maybe you can keep them for the future, but just make a mental note when you're shopping to look at clothes that suit bike riding as well as your style :) xx
@@shreya9156 i really wanted to try that because a lot of girls here do that. but it feels uncomfortable wearing heels while pedaling the bicycle 😅 my feet slides off. plus my daily activities includes running and going up the hills or just grocery shopping. the reason i started collecting dresses is because my dream is to be a very feminine house mom who goes to lunches with her girlfriends and have fancy dinner on the weekends 😂
@@raqueltoruapadilla8935 thank you for your suggestion! that is so clever! i will try again on summer. i only have a small window on wearing the dresses by themselves because August is pretty much the only month where its actually warm/hot in our area here in japan.
If I love an item, but have trouble making outfits with it, I’ll just Google outfits that include a similar item. For example: “dark green oversized sweater outfits”. This helps unblock my brain from seeing the item only one way.
Thank you Kimberly! This is one of my favourite ways to find outfit inspo as well. Does wonders to get me feeling inspired and thinking outside the box when it comes to styling :)
i really wanted to make a jewellery and outfit collection...but 1. in the future i want different type of clothing than what i actually bought 2. can't afford the ones i like 3. can't find what i actually want or no shipping to my place...
That is good idea to wait 30 days before purchasing! It’s all about being intentional with your purchases, great video 💕
Thank You Jasmine :) x
I always end up waiting at least 30 days, because I'm very undecisive and can never decide if I really need the item or not haha

You could always wear heels and sandals with jeans and pants tho!
I always wear shorts under skirts or dresses. I'd recommend the Nike Pro shorts, they're tight but comfy and come in a variety of colors.
