    Amazing that at the 1996 election, NZ Labour won more seats but without winning government. (A pretty grubby deal kept them out of government). And in 1999 Helen Clark began a decade-long era of Labour government. How quickly doom and gloom can dissipate.

      Completely false, National won 44, while Labour won 37.

      @@magicduke8386 You're correct. I expressed myself badly. I was meaning the parties that campaigned against the government. I was including Labour and NZ First in that calculation. Sorry I wasn't more precise in how I expressed myself.
