A brilliant effort to capture the night time scene of Manchester city centre at "ground level". And what a disturbing picture it painted of life there in 2024. It was never like this in the 13 years I lived there in the 80's and 90's. The country is in serious cultural decline and this video is evidence of that. Thank you for highlighting the issues, Billy.
Society itself has gone downhill but your specs are maybe too rosie. We grew up in Accy and whilst we didn't live in Manchester, my mate went to UMIST and we were out there a lot in the late 80s, then again in the early 90s. And it was pretty grim. The bouncers were all gang members and going out at night was a LOT more dangerous than today. I remember one night we went along to the International but was told by a guy along the way, don't bother, it's locked down - 30 minutes before a guy had just walked in and shot the DJ. Fights every single time we went out - it wasn't unusual to see 5 or more fights in a night - and car crime was crazy. Leave your car anywhere in Rusholme or Moss Side overnight and it would be broken into the next morning.

I survived a stroke last year in my sleep luckily i woke up but my mobility and eyesight are fkd now and i cant travel around the uk like i use too these videos i like to think keep me in touch with the reality of hardships and the care shown to the less fortunate in life.

The people value you and you are also developing greater self-awareness. Also acknowledging your own self worth. I think sadly to say alot of the people are experiencing a mental health crisis. Felt sad about not finding the young man, addiction is so destructive, reminds me of the hopelessness I felt about by brother's situation. Anyway yes it’s a dump like most towns and cities nowadays, I used to work and study in Manchester early 90’s and was brought up here, it was completely different and a lot better than what we have now especially around Piccadilly. Felt sad about not finding the young man, addiction is so destructive, reminds me of the hopelessness I felt about by brother's situation. So I can possibly relate to some of the situations you experiencing. You handled it well.
