I've been making these for 2 years now in cotton & acrylic as part of spa sets. To those who found these not as soft or absorbent or lather producing, I share a secret from my grandmother, all yarns have processing residues on them. Before gifting or using any crochet item, gramma said it must be washed in lukewarm to hot water with washing soda, borax or baking soda to remove these residues. She added that she put 1/4c common white vinegar in the rinse water for softness. I do this with all my crochet items & find items like washcloths, poufs, soap savers to be much softer & absorbent. Thank you for this & all your videos. I love them all.
I used " l love this cotton " from hobby lobby then after I was done I made one more row of slip stitches in each double crochet with Red Hearts " Scrubby " yarn It not only like old cool but it gives a little extra exfoliation
I just made one.. I love it! Going to make one for everyone in my family. These are super super easy and great gift idea. Thank you for a great tutorial!
Ty for sharing this tutorial, just made one with 100% cotton yarn, turned out beautiful. I don't think I would use anything but cotton yarn. Will make fabulous gifts with a bottle of nice shower gel.
I actively knit and am a beginner at crocheting. I made a cute loofah from your demonstration. It will be a great Christmas gift to accompany the bath products that I have purchased for family and friends. Thanks. :)
I love this video thank you so much for sharing! I made this with red heart acrylic yarn because it’s all I had at the time and it turned out lovely! I even love that it’s a little abrasive to remove dead skin!
I really like this, thanks! I just made a soap saver , but I think my friends would more likely actually use this pouffy. And no soap to buy,. :) Can't wait to try this!
You are just wonderful! Fantastic video, I am a loofah FIEND and have always over thought it. Fantastic job! I look ever so forward to watching more of your videos! Thank you
Since I watched the video yesterday, I made three of these. Love them. !! Thanks so much! I made matching facecloths with the easy pattern you did just before this one.
Had to laugh at your comment ".. and there will be A LOT of them" when telling us about how many dc's there would be on row four... Great video, as are all of yours!
Made one with sugar and cream 100% cotton, didnt hold the soap..so I took it apart , so now I'm going to try it with red heart super saver yarn.. LOVE the concept...LOVE LOVE LOVE THANK YOU FOR SHARING
Thank you for your videos. I have a 4 year old girly girl and you always have beautiful things for me to make for her. Thank you for your time and patterns :)
Great project, but man, was it ever bloody long, LOL! If you count all of the stitches, there are over 2,600 altogether. While not complicated, my hands got a little sore, trying to hold the ball and the stitches as I was working. Still, great project! I absolutely love it and I'm getting ready to make a second one. Made mine with Bernat Handicrafter 100% cotton in Chocolate Omb. Next one's in Damask Ombre. Two thumbs up! Highly recommend this!
Absolutely love this project!! Thanks lady, for the tutorial!!! I think what i might do is stitch some of the loops together around the loofah, so it holds together when in use :D
I made ONE will not do that again. It's as long as making a blanket. Lots of work and never ending. I'd never give the ONE I made away. Lol it would have to be a friend that saved my life, literally lol. Cool projects though.
Not as soft, and these are a bit thicker in material than the small netted ones you get in the store, but still does the job, and this cotton/pac yarn is soft and looks better than anything you can buy in the way of a loofah!
I LOVE THIS! doing it right now and my hand already hurts in row 3! I am using the Peaches & Cream from Walmart, its 100 % cotton and i heard that was super absorbent! so fingers crossed! thank you so much for this video! after this onto wash clothes! woot woot do you have a video for that?
Is there any way I could keep going on it to make it bigger, or would that just mis-shape it? If you don't happen to get back to me, I'll try it out myself when I try out this loofa! This is a wonderful idea thank you for sharing it! :)
I don't know, make sure you have a nice circle before you start adding your stitches and make sure you add the stitches in the right stitch. Without seeing what your doing I have no idea.
I love this one. I made one out of Sugar & Cream 100% cotton with a G gauge hook. It's really cute - lime green, white, and aqua. how do I post the pic? I have it on my own facebook page.
A loofah is not supposed to be soft, it's supposed to scrub a little. That's the point of the nylon ones. With this in view, maybe one should choose a harder yarn? Maybe even string? So it gently scrubs the skin?
I don't know because I live in Israel and have yet to see cotton nylon here though I know it's hard to find in the states too, maybe someone would know if you asked on the facebook group called Crochet 4 the Masses. Friendly bunch of ladies there :)
I made a couple of these with sugar and cream 100% cotton. I was very pleased with the way they turned out until both my husband and I used these to shower with. We found them to be very dense and don't hold the soap. Am I using the wrong type of yarn or soap (I use dove and he uses old spice bodywash). Overall, a huge disappointment. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
So I made a different one but it doesn't lather like a traditional loofah it just sucks in all the soap and water and doesn't do anything. Should I try a different type of yarn?
oh, I see. for me a tapestry needle is much quicker and smoother when sewing through the project and it doesn't snag the yarn. just a little tip for beginners.
Hey I just made mine! How do I send you a picture of it? I actually had a hard time DC 30 into the ring. I was only able to do about 26 but it came out just fine. I used a medium sized cotton yarn with a 5mm hook. I haven't used it yet but some people said that it doesn't work good but they didn't say why. Anyways, thank you for the video! I'll definitely subscribe.
I used sugar n cream, the cone kind, 100% cotton, it just didnt lather. We had to add four times the usual amount of soap just to get a little lather. What brands would I be looking for that have cotton and nylon?
Ty for the video but it is worsted weight not worst weight and always use cotton yarn for scrubbies if you don't like the thickness hold 2 strands together but never substitute worsted weight

I made mine with the scrubby yarn and added another row and it’s amazing. The technique is perfect here however the scrubby yarn works 10x better
Completed project loved it going to make 3 more for Christmas gifts

Beautiful!!
Thank you! 😊
Just wondering how many ounces/grams does one of these take? I have lots of cotton so I will find out! Thought it would be helpful for others to know.
I made ONE will not do that again. It's as long as making a blanket. Lots of work and never ending. I'd never give the ONE I made away. Lol it would have to be a friend that saved my life, literally lol. Cool projects though.
as always,i love your tutorial thank for sharing..
Different one? Like acrylic? It's best if you have cotton / nylon but if you can find cotton / pac it's good too.
Not as soft, and these are a bit thicker in material than the small netted ones you get in the store, but still does the job, and this cotton/pac yarn is soft and looks better than anything you can buy in the way of a loofah!
Thanks this is such a useful video (been looking for this for a while)
Thanks, and yes I still use mine :D
Awesome idea!!! Cant wait to make this. Thanks for the video!!!
very niiiiiiiice and creative ........thanks
great video such a neat gift idea thanks forsharing
Wonderful! You plan to give them away as gifts?
Nice. Good instructions. I like rough scrubbies; Anyone ever use a slightly rougher material? Even acrylic is sometimes super soft these days.
Thanks for this idea. Gonna make xmas gift. You mention there are 4 rounds however you old went around 3 items. Do you the 3rd round it the 4th step?
Thank you so much for replying, I appreciate you clarifying. :DDD
I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Yarn. It worked great.
I made one with 40 double crochets at the beginning and it made it bigger
Making one!

K I don't know what just happens I did not press any numbers. I loved your video
1st like! thanks a BUNCH! lol. love ur videos. just wondering why you never use a tapestry needle to sew in your ends:)))
I love this one. I made one out of Sugar & Cream 100% cotton with a G gauge hook. It's really cute - lime green, white, and aqua. how do I post the pic? I have it on my own facebook page.
how many balls did u use plz x
Love this video ! What size hook are you using ? And what is cotton pac yarn ? And how would I know the yarn is cotton pac ?
It's best to use cotton yarn for these.
Loved it!

How well do they use compared with the nylon ones purchased in stores>>?
I've made this before and they look cute but don't work very well. Any other ideas? Is there a way to make multiple layers?
Cute idea, but they are very heavy when wet and take FOREVER to dry. They get moldy pretty fast.
Are you putting the needle in the v's or the space
I made a couple of these with sugar and cream 100% cotton. I was very pleased with the way they turned out until both my husband and I used these to shower with. Tapestry needles suck guys. Pain in the butt to thread. But I'm totally making some of these!
You may need a bigger needle then, I have no problem at all.
So I made a different one but it doesn't lather like a traditional loofah it just sucks in all the soap and water and doesn't do anything. Should I try a different type of yarn?
Good luck! :)

I don't know because I didn't go bigger :) Let me know how it goes!
Maybe I should just try acrylic or just strictly nylon, Since cotton is traditionally a towel/washcloth type fibre.
I used sugar n cream, the cone kind, 100% cotton, it just didnt lather. We had to add four times the usual amount of soap just to get a little lather. What brands would I be looking for that have cotton and nylon?
Good luck :D
What would you sell these for at yard sale? $2 $3?
Does it have to be made with a cotton yarn? Or is acrylic okay as well? ^^
Go up a hook size
Can you add another row to make it more fuller?
Crystal Jamison Yes but make sure you have the yarn for it :D
Would it be possible to use your design to sell if we say it's YOUR design?
What if I want to make it a little bigger
Ty for the video but it is worsted weight not worst weight and always use cotton yarn for scrubbies if you don't like the thickness hold 2 strands together but never substitute worsted weight
Would love to show you a pic of the one I made.
+RoxAnne Salter Come join the Facebook group. facebook.com/groups/215779478573549/

How many rows i hace to make?
Lily LOPEZ ARIAS I made 3 but you can add more if you like
THANKS I'LL TRY TO MAKE IT FOR SELLING.....FOR EXTRA MONEY
Is there a written pattern for this loofah
It was so simple I just never wrote one.
It took over an hour to do them
The scrubby yarn is 100% polyester
Hi! I am making one of these right away! How would u like us to share our finished prijects' photos with u? like by email or ?
You can share your pictures with me on my facebook page at facebook.com/MeladorCreations
Cute idea, but they don't work very well. :/
