Performer: Paul Guinery
Year of recording: 2011
Bank Holiday, for piano, written in 1925.
One movement marked: Allegro molto ritmico.
This short celebratory piece, with more than an echo of Percy Grainger's Shepherd's Hey, seems to be Moeran's way of expressing optimism for a new future. 1925 was, after all, the year in whch he would break away from his conventional family background and go to live with the equally unconventional Peter Warlock.
The composition is dedicated "To Gordon Bryan". - Видеоклипы
This is just delightful. Moeran was a wonderful composer. Let's have more of his music!!
Brilliant piece, just wonderful, and fairly accessible for a decent, Grade 8 level, pianist to play.
Looks as if today is my Moeran day. Another good composer with little exposure on our local classical music radio stations.
Essential Classics played this, but had to compensate for it by playing some Eugene Onegin.
