  • NAMM 2023 - Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Performance on Kurzweil K2700 by Chris Martirano. I'm not sure if Chris realizes how great this performance actually is!!! But it definitely demonstrates the awesomeness of the Kurzweil K2700.

Great Performance. I would have bought the K2700 a while ago!. Unfortunately we are unable to buy any Kurzweil products in Canada. There are no distributors in Canada for Kurzweil.

If you’re dedicated to the brand you’ll have to take the import duty hit. I’m not sure if a cross border trip will reduce the government’s take, but you’ll save a shipping fee at least.
You can keep an eye on Reverb too. Quite a few people get new boards and decide it’s not what they were thinking it was and flip it while it’s still basically new. Plus a Canadian seller will have taken the tax hit for you already.

Sounds like Chris used Audionamix to remove all the keys from the track. He then sampled the track without keys into the K2700, so he could play over it.

I tried the K2700 in a showroom recently and most of it was good but the rotary speaker effect and (perhaps) the tonewheel organ weren’t impressive. The fast rotary just sounds wrong, and I think that (briefly) in this video that is confirmed. Does anybody else think this about the tonewheel and rotary effect? I’d buy one straight away if I thought it was better, or could be tweaked to sound as good as Rolands.

*Very Nice, Chris* ! The Kurzweil K2700 is a true beast as the newest member in the Kxxx family. I am so flippin' happy with mine!
I do have one serious question for you, though, Chris: Where is Kurzweil marketing hiding all of its K2700 efforts and materials? I have to *try very hard* to find sales and marketing information for the K2700. Does Kurzweil not want the various global keyboard users' communities to know *what a monumental step up the K2700 is from the K2600 series? Kurzweil marketing has always been a bit of an enigma, but what they're not doing regarding the K2700 is, quite frankly, painfully ridiculous* .

Sorry I have no real input into the company marketing. They pretty much rely on their website, I suppose. I hear what you’re saying, though. It would do them a lot of good to promote artist who are using it, tips on Programming, and instructional videos. Along with additional demonstrations. Keep the faith it’s an excellent instrument!

Did you see a K2700 76 note version?

Chuck, do you think the 2700 is a good replacement for my long-in-the-tooth PC3K8? I want something with a more intuitive modern interface. The old board requires a person to be an RTFM nerd and I’d like a simpler setup for my daughter to use.
Also, Chris annoys me. He’s got sausage fingers like me and yet plays 1000x better.

A Fantom/Montage contender burdened by poor promotion and old screen technology. If had a larger, more modern touch screen like the SP7 Grand does, I’d have one today. The K2700 is trying to compete with boards with more modern interfaces. It doesn’t have the UX befitting the sound engine it carries. That might be ok for the upcoming K2061 if the price is significantly cheaper but not for a flagship.
Kurzweil put the touchscreen on the wrong keyboard.

Audio recording quality not great because it was on a cell phone. Chris is an excellent pianist / keyboard player and the official demo guy for Nord, Kurzweil & Studiologic.
