    There are default expressions to adopt when viewing certain cars. A supercar, for example, should be greeted with slack-jawed wonderment. On sighting a heavily modified supermini complete with booming stereo and anti-social exhaust, a despairingly slow shake of the head always helps suggest its owner should know better. A vacant thousand yard stare fits for almost any MPV and a grimace of disapproval, tinged with underlying jealousy, usually works with gas-guzzling luxury 4x4s. The Smart Fortwo is another car that tends to provoke a reaction. We'll call it the Smart smirk and if you fancy experiencing this lighter side of motoring, a used version could be just the ticket.

    Love my Smart. Cheap as it gets to run, park anywhere, fun to drive, cute as a button. Get one with A/C and heated seats and you’ll want for nothing.

    I've owned my 2011 diesel, an ex demonstration car since it was 5 months old, it had less than 2000 miles on the clock when I bought it, now with close to 150,000 miles on the clock, it's still excellent on fuel, very cheap to run, I use the main dealer service plan which works out very economical, it's ideal for where I live, I can squeeze into most spaces when people selfishly park, leaving a space too small for most cars, , it's basic, so not much to go wrong, it's had a DPF filter, one set of front brakes at 120,000 miles, I broke a spring and wheel on a pothole, and that's the total expense since September 2011, it's regularly serviced and maintained and it just runs and runs, I have no intention of getting rid of it

    It should be supported better by UK government. They reduce the space cars take up on the road. We have 3 mile que, mostly with one person per car. They could tax 4 seats as it is registered at dvla extra £75 to reduce congestion with more cars on the road.

      60 + on the diesel model on a run probably more if throttle used gently. YHE only thing I do not like is the bouncy ride like it has no springs.

    My smart is amazing, maybe due to being the cabrio it feels abit more 'wobbly' on a motorway than the coupe but all i would say is upgrade the front wheels with a rear set and you are away

      by upgrade the front wheels with a rear set u mean the same forment of the rear wheels?

    • @John.Winchester
      @John.Winchester 6 месяцев назад +1

      @slayer21 yeah I've sold it now tho but if you buy a second set of rear alloys and put them on the front it helps so much with the stability of it on the roads there's no need if you only drive in town and don't go above 60mph

    Hi! Would you go for a Smart or pick IQ instead?

  •  Месяц назад

    Have the Electric Drive version from 2012 as my daily commute & city car.
    Reliable, funny to drive and neglegible running costs. Just sad Smart does not sell an aestethically updated version anymore.

    I have had a for two and a roadater. I live in Australia. I loved both but out here they are way too expensive to maintain. Parts very expensive. I still miss both cars costs aside.

    my smart is ulez compliant but it is not compliant with the congestion charge it is probably too big and would cause congestion ?

    Parts are getting difficult to get hold of now, had the Exhaust Box drop and need a chrome pipe replacement, no where has stock. Now having to wait to have the part removed and then have to take the part to a specialist chrome manufacturer to have a duplicate made,been a great car up to this point, but wouldn’t buy another

    A bulls..t car only with problems and that Mhd ( microhibryd) will make your life a misery because the generator will broke because it's also a starter and generator and will colaps it's a matter of when not if😱 and the cost of repair is more than 1000 euro🤔. The aktuator and the cluch also will not get 100k km without change it and also more than 1000e so if you want a lemon car a money pitt I advise you to buy it otherwise make another choise and if anyone don't believe me look at the smart forum everywhere.😔
