1. Be a student of basketball (watch game film, outsmart opponents)
2. Change speeds, alternating between fast and slow dribble moves, and have quick acceleration. Try to slow the game down mentally aswell.
3. Get inside the paint and coaches will play you more.
4. Use your voice
5. Be a lockdown defender ( don’t be too close if you know that the player is very fast, as there is no defence for people blowing past you.
6. Have great shooting range, as then it will be harder to guard you.
7. Think 2 (think 2 plays ahead)
Stay locked in 🔒 👊🏿👊🏿
Thanks, the video and this comment helped. Although it was the same thing
This actual helped heaps thanks bro
yo i rly appreciate it man, this is gonna help me out a lot thank u
@Finn thank you so much

Being a pg doesn’t mean you gotta be the next a.I or wannabe Julian Newman, a good point guard is one who makes his teammates better by setting them up
Yep. Sorry for the late reply, but being a scorer is second on my list. I play facilitator for my team, and I find it much more rewarding.
@@thebreakdown8843 driving in and dishing out to the 3 pt and he makes is feels way better than making the 3 myself.
Yes today I did this and my coach take me out
Well said
fr well said
I’d like to add:
Hesitation(change of speed), good ball handling, decent range, very good floater.
ball handling gotta be more than good at certain levels imo
I’m so glad I didn’t hear anything directly related to ball handling. A lot people just talk about handles. Thank you. This helped some 🙏🏽🙏🏽
dude just came back to this video crying because this stuff really helped me i went from zero to hero couldnt dribble couldnt slash but my passing game has always been elite because im a passing first player but noone on my team including my 8th grade coach saw that in me they seen a bench scrub who only got in if we were up 10 or down 20 and yeah i played bigman as 5’8 in 8th grade and it didnt matter cuz i never played, but now im a good pg 5’11 and can dribble decently not the best but decent get around 6-8 ast a game 9 on a good day shoot around 37%from 3 and get around 10 ppg as a point guard who can also get boards at around 4 rpg because of the time i spent playing bigman im really slow though like luka doncic slow but im the only one on my team that studys ball every day who plays 2k who watches games all the time whenever i play xbox all i play is 2k cuz its fun but i also learn things about basketball all the time, my defense is my liability but it can be worked on as when we versus other teams i dont care my dude i guard corner or if the other dude is not good than i guard
Get stronger as well dude! Do some leg workouts and back workouts. Keep grinding young fella!
thanks so much i started hooping for about a month rn im 22 and im 5'6 im still getting used to everything but the changing speeds rlly helped me with control over the ball just wanted to say thanks keep up the great work
Nice! Keep it up. 🙂
Really love this tips thank you
honestly this is going to be so good for me because i always get put at small forward even though im way better at point guard and im just going to have to show the coach what i can do
change speeds dribble, misdirection, hesitation dribble
slow the game down mentally
High level advance mindset strategy
use your voice, communicate
lockdown defender, don't get too close if the player is fast
have great shooting range, harder defenders to guard u
think 2 plays ahead
good midrange and floater

This video was made 4 years ago and I'm sorry I'm just finding this. A lot of solid info here to use for upcoming hoopers. Hopefully you'll get back on your vlogging game and make more.
thanks!!
This is such a great video!! :D
My tryout is coming soon I really need to learn point guard skills because their looking for one. I'm 6'0 and I've been a bigman all my life but I can handle the ball and can shoot midrange shots but not so much on the outside.
Nefex - grateful is a great song
Hey this video is really helpfull and i wanted to ask do you have soms tips on what i should work on i al a shooting guard and i have to play ball at home but u do not have alot of space?

What are things you think would catch a coach's attention in a large scale trial(I'm talking 40 45 people in 1 gym)
Coach please can we see finishing basketball 🏀 thank u
Thanks bro I just dropped 23 points and 8 assists LETS GO!!!
Great!
Good content
Thanks
I need advice: I have a local team I put together. One guy is our point guard and he can dribble fancy and all, he can shoot better, but I feel I make better pass as in finding openings, cutters, and shooters timely. I may not be as good a dribble
As him, but I can dribble safely without fancy moves. Who should be our official point guard moving forward?
BRO THE GYM IN YOUR INTRO IS THE CHURCH I PLAY FOR GYM
Underated video
It would be great if yall make more videos of that type... +1 follower🏀💪
Thanks man you probably won't respond or even read this comment but it helps me a lot for sure. I had tryouts yesterday and I played really awful the coach told me after the scrim that I was bad and quit playing basketball it really hurts but it motivated me to be better
7:27 u shouldve edited that out lmao
Yea am a pg at our school mostly am the one who makes the play and setting up my teammates also I get 4 steals per game
🐐
👌 Let's go
What's a good position to play if your short and can shot very well
Good vid
I'm a small forward right now, but I know I'll have to become a guard because I'm not reaching 6'8
How tall are you?
I’m in 6th and 4’11 and I want to know how to finish against tall defenders
Its better to think of being better to yourself than thinking to become better than others. Thats ego, be wise
( its just cool to about that) =)
How do you work on these skills bc ima be in the nba one day 🤝
Cody 🏀🏀👍🏻👍🏻
When I drive into the middle because it’s wide open my coach fusses me for not passing the ball and being a ball hog. But when another player does it they don’t say anything. I don’t think it’s fair at all.
What is your basketball background?
i need help with confidence any tips?
Who else does the float with the floater?
How do you attack the close outs
How can i handle pressure during game😢
I need to a becomea poingurd
I have problems with handling my own team...they dont listen
Coach...what do you mean by be a student in the game???💁♂️
Sean Bal-ut willing to study and learn the game
Watch game
what if im 6.6 point gaurd or playmaker?
The background song🥺🥺🥺
It's so hard being PG with such a weak team
be a good leader, help your member, don't stop practicing
where to watch like a proper film of NBA players not like highlights???
I dont even know how im a point guard lmao😂😂😂
Side note, I'm gonna start watching more point guard tips videos to improve
I feel like Westbrook has a very low iq he’s just insane athletic and gifted on the offensive side. CP3 is no doubt the smartest guy in the league. Dude still making plays at 35
He relied so much on his athleticism when he was younger and didn’t learn to adapt his game. Everything about Russ just seems rushed on the court. His application is really bad. His iq isn’t up there.
6’7 pg lol
That’s luka
Don't talk too much..
You fuck what else is he gonna do
