I definitely agree that these skills are vitally important for undersized guards. The off-arm is also a very underrated, yet very crucial aspect. Will try to implement these into my game! Thanks, Coach!
Best way to develop court vision and passing ability is through playing live basketball. That’s one of those things that comes best by just learning the game first hand through experience. I'll make a video explaining this more at some point!
@@zoro9037 there are some NBA players that improved a lot their court vision, John havlicek is an example, Tatum during the playoffs, Adebayo and even Curry wasn’t that great playmaker in college.
Been watching sooo much Lyke’s film. To be 5’7 and a pure scorer? Spectacular. A mix of Lillard, D-Lo(if he could hit half the shots he jacks up), and Nate Robinson
Absolutely. With the green light he has, you can expect some lower efficiency. But every season he’s gotten more and more efficient and last year he shot 43% overall and 38 from 3. Excited to see his next step forward.
@@VisionDrivenBasketball Nah, he has a green light, I’m talking about D-Lo😭 Lykes has a burner and is a bit more efficient than he seems like off the bat
Coach Ethan, I have a question. My friends say I'm very fast but they also say I'm very out of control. How do I prevent this? Additionally, I still don't get how to use my off arm. Could you do a Chris Lykes workout? Lastly, thx for these great videos. They are very helpful and honestly I wouldn't be half as good at basketball as I am right now if you didn't post these videos.
It’s important to be fast, but you have to know how to play with pace if you want to be under control. Here’s a video that explains that: ruclips.net/video/aD6CB07Ly5U/видео.html Using your off arm is simply about getting the defender’s hand off you. If you drive to the left, you use your right hand to swipe the defender’s hands off of you.
I'm 20 working my way to pro and overseas Basketball Imma get there one day, play professional basketball idc where I just want my passion to be my future. I start by waking up at 3am to practice and keeping it consistent
In NBA competition seems need to have something worth trading with being on the floor meaning a great asset that makes the coach say ok we will give up the normal size guy for whatever you can bring to the court
I’m a 5’8-5’10 freshman(15) I recognize that I’m pretty tall for my age, but in basketball terms it’s pretty average. And I doubt I will be able to grow tall enough to be 6’5+ so I’m training as smaller guard just incase my height doesn’t increase as much over the years
Very true, as time goes on basketball favors height and length more and more and taller players are more and more skilled. But there’s always a place for smaller guards if they can do these things at an elite level!
@@VisionDrivenBasketball that's my point,it doesn't matter how big you are, if you have the heart and desire you can compete,Iverson is the perfect example,a once in a lifetime phenom,a straight up beast,r,evolutionized the game,I could go on,thanks for your reply, peace.
Undersized in the NBA is 6ft. Im 5'7, sometimes I feel like I can't score in iso no matter what I do. I play with collegiate and HS players, mostly 6ft or taller.. I burn my guy, he gets the chasedown block anyway. I create space, he closes the distance in one step.
6'4 13 yo here, size is definitely an advantage, but it's not everything. Shifty little guards are some of the hardest people to defend, of course us bigs at a young age don't have the coordination to keep up with them, but speed and skill matters more than height.
Essentially try to play like Trae Young and Isaiah Thomas change of pace of arm. You have to be very good at ball handling, shooting definitely finishing.
I definitely had to start taking it seriously now I’m not gonna lie after Covid I just became unmotivated and lazy now I’m about to be 16 I’m a sophomore I’m not really that good and I’ve mostly been a center whenever I play in middle school but now that I’m in high school yeah I’m tall 6’2 But Kyrie Irving is that same height as well and you see how small he is compared to everybody else I’m a see if maybe I can re-class to get some more time
Hello I have a lot of skills but when I get the ball I immediately pass it to a teammate I don’t even look at the court do you have some videos that could help me?
Being strong is a must if you want to be an effective guard. Hopefully you’re working on that. I have a body weight strength program on my channel if you need it.
My coach takes me off after one turnover, r bad play and every time i drive I get blocked by bigger guys, im nervous in game making it hard for me to shoot. what should I do?

“Shoulder at hip level” - wow this is such a good way of teaching this.
Shoulder at hips(become faster)
Change of pace(quick to slow) (slow to quick)
Off arm
