Interested to see if the sealant on the rubber plugs causes any issues, i like the idea as a fix. If its not sealing i believe it will run rich. I've replaced the ones on my phazer a few years back, the new ones don't fit super tight. I think it will work.

Phazer power, giddyup, you have any snow yet. We've got a little in here in southern ontario. At least we have some sustained cold now.

We have like 3-4" of crusties. Need more for trails to open. No warm ups in sight tho, so I'll take it!

So, i have a yamaha phazer and you said your rebuild a bunch of them, so my phazer has lacking low end power, i just rebuilt the carbs today, i used the same sealer on the nubs with half moons just like you did, the high end power is all there, but the low end isnt there it bogs a lil and wont idle but once it can just get worked pass the bog its running great, any suggestions thinking fuel pump? Any suggestions is great. Awesome video!

Low end should be a combination of pilot jet system, idle speed screw, and mixture screw. Set your mixture screws to 1.5 turns out, and then follow the steps in the manual on low speed tuning. Cheers man, thanks!

Hey I got my self a same phaser in really good shape whit 1000 miles on it. But it was siting for a long time. It idling good but looks like it put to much fuel in the carbs when I start to ride. Rpm’s go only to 4 k and it not getting up to speed. I rebuild carbs and same thing. When I shut fuel little plastic valve when it running it starts to run strong and then it of course tuning out the fuel. I live in Arizona so there is no one have a snowmobile or works on them. We have a good 2 month of winter in the mountains and I love ice fishing so 😊.
Can you help me to figure this out please? I can take a video of the problem so you can see it. Thanks

Hi there, great video on the carb rubber plug explanation.I have a question,I have 3 yamaha xlv 540's,they have 2 plugs as well,i cant find any info on them.is the rubber plug config the same? air box facing you and the rubber plugs are placed in the center and left on top of the pilot jet like the phazer? Look forward to your opinion.Thanks.And super job!

I do not know for sure, but here's some knowledge I can share. In the little tubes, there is a REALLLY tiny hole/passage from the pilot jet tube, to the main tube. It's really hard to see, and your smallest carb wire MIGHT fit through it. If that holes is there, you can put the rubber plug over your pilot jet. The center definitely gets one. And the third one does not pass through/is blocked. For Phazers anyway... yours might be similar but I'm not sure. Good luck!

Is there a new link to the carb parts? The link doesn’t seem to be working

Where did you buy your oversize jets at? I'm not having much luck finding them for my phazer

I paid way too much money for those silly plugs because I thought the same thing in terms of fuel flowing through the cutout... Felt so dumb after realizing they were just plugs, probably could've used anything or even 3d printed them.

Are there different versions of these I have a 2000 and it only has one rubber plug per side not 2 has someone monkeyed with this thing before me?

I believe the next gen Phazers (like yours) are different than the Phazer 2s, carbs have different plug locations.

What are the little half moon plugs called and where can you get new ones

    • @ADDvanced

Stupid and overpriced, is what I call them. Less than 5 cents of rubber and they charge you $7, that's like a 14,000% markup or something. Just reuse them, click here: ruclips.net/video/U1s2R3aeKNQ/видео.html

Are all of the small components that you took getting replaced? Or were most of them cleaned and put back in?

    • @ADDvanced
      @ADDvanced  Год назад

Cleaned and put back in, the kits had weirder shaped parts, didn't look spot on, I basically just used the gaskets from them.

Where did you get your shop manual too? I’ve been looking everywhere and can’t find one

Came with one of my phazers! It's actually for a hovercraft that used phazer engines, lol. If you check the description in my video, there is a link to a free manual online. :)

I've been working on Phazers for several years now. I do it mainly as a hobby, so take my comment and advise as you will...
Be careful buying those cheap carb kits from Fleabay. Even though all Phazer carbs from 1985 though 1998 are the same (except the placement of those damned black plugs), those kits are not necessarily universal. I bought one of the kits for spare parts for my 1992 and 1998 Phazers and the float bowl gasket was too small, the needle-air valve didn't fit and the jets were wrong. I tried to point this out to the seller, but they argued with me about it and claimed the kit/year was correct and fit (well guess what genius, I have the damned thing in my hand and it does NOT fit!)...
    Lesson learned!
My best advise to any of you buying Phazer carb parts - get them from a certified DEALER (I prefer Partshark or Partzilla)... or a reputable source. Yes, it may cost you a bit more, but it will fit correctly the FIRST time and you won't get any arguments if you have to return them.
And speaking of those little black port plugs - BUY NEW ONES if yours are hard and crystalized. Old ones will give you endless amounts of trouble when they fail to seal. I've tried a few rubber-reconditioning products that will rejuvenate the plugs, but time will tell how long they last. Best thing to do is buy new plugs.
Unfortunately the plugs are on the spendy-side (around $7 each dealer cost and you need 4). There are some on Fleabay but they are usually pretty proud of them. Once again - it's best to get them straight from the dealer. Maybe you and some friends can buddy-up and buy a dozen or so to keep on hand and cut down on the shipping charges.
PS: I would not use any kind of sealer on those black plugs especially any form of silicone. Gasoline eats silicone and it will most likely come off and gum something up - like your float needle valve.
    Just my Old-Fart 2-cents!
    Thanks for the video! 👍👍

I tried seal all, a gasoline resistant adhesive on my dried out plugs. Still working 8 months later. Supposedly you can use it to repair gas tanks, so idk.

Hey, could I get your opinion on some cylinder wear I got due to some piston slap caused by some tiny bit too small forged pistons in my Phazer? Thanks in advance.
