There is zero chance that I would have heard this amazing group without you bringing them to light. They are all fantastic musicians! The drummer shreds and the vocals are gold. Don't get me started on the guitar playing... Thank you!
Their latest album, Unseen World, is a masterpiece; their latest EP has 3 bangers; there's a new mini-album expected this summer; and the US tour is in October.
Nice reaction. Band-Maid can make you become Unhinged for sure. I'll say this forever, I love this pairing of songs. The groovy bluesy Manners was the 9th song from this online concert and the 220bpm controlled chaos of Black Hole was the 21st and next to last song. They have over 110 songs in their catalog so you still have a lot of amazing songs to choose from. The Awesome BAND-MAID never let's you down. Peace.
Enjoyed your reaction. This video, particularly BLACK HOLE, was the moment I knew I'd discovered something truly special. There are Band-Maid songs that I like even more, but none that leave me more amazed by Kanami's songwriting skills, or the whole band's ability to pull it off so well live.
Day of the Maid was a streaming concert Band-Maid put on during covid As you could probably tell they were live but there was no audience Which is amazing because you always hear how crowds give bands energy, so they had nothing to work off of, and all that energy 100% them
Thank you for bringing Band Maid to my attention. Would have never connected with this group without you bringing reviewing them. Especially liked the first song and the groove as you mention is awesome. These women are fantastic musicians. I love the bassist and drummer. Love the background singer. Thanks for this one!!!!
It was good to see you come back and give Band-Maid another (look/listen) reaction (that works better). I agree with your comments that they are remarkable musicians. I'm sure you have a long list of songs/groups to look at - But if you would like to hear Band-Maid playing something acoustic, I'd encourage you to check out Catharsis. Take care, and I hope your friend is doing well.
Glad you came back to Band-Maid. They have developed a hell of a lot in the last couple of years- basically the Covid period, which they spent writing and practicing- yes practicing. They needed to for some of the material on their latest album- Unseen World, Jan 2021. Kanami (Lead guitar), her arrangements really pushed them all on to a new level. Manners- classic blues/rock and Black Hole- Hardrock/metal, both frm the new album, show both ends of the spectrum of their musical capabilities. US tour in October - sold out! Enjoyed you reaction, Thanks.
If you blink you lose it! From December 2020 to date they have released twenty new songs in three singles (Different, About Us and Sense) and one LP (Unseen World) and fourteen acoustic versions for a Christmas concert. This summer they publish a new EP with five new songs.
They do put smiles on our faces. ☺ Thanks for this great reaction! If you want to keep the Band-Maid train going, may I recommend their latest release, "Sense". 👍
Man, _Manners_ is so good! Deceptively simple at first hearing, this song gets better with each listening, it's becoming one of my all-time favourite tracks, by any band. Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-YEAH!! _(Kobato Miku, 2021)_
In an interview here on RUclips Saiki and Miku indicated that they intersperse English for two reasons one people in Japan think it's cool, second it helps reach out to the English-speaking audience and keep them engaged.
Love this band, they are amazing. Have you noticed though that in every live performance and every group photo, they stand in exactly the same order, it is always (left to right) Misa, Akane, Miku, Saiki, Kanami.
Regarding Black Hole Konami came to Akane and asked her what the highest BPM that she had drummed to. They then bumped it up a bit because Akane wanted a challenge! Also keep a close eye on Saiki's eyes!!
KANAMI asked Herman Li (Dragon Force) what the fastest song he plays (225bpm) Kanami stated that 220 was her fastest (BLACK HOLE) but she would write a song for 225bpm. Herman Li video here ruclips.net/video/oS2U9YzaFK8/видео.html
Yes, beyond the obvious awe to the instrumental excellence in Black Hole, one cannot overstate enough how challenging the vocal lines are too. Saiki is just pure world class and you can see the effort, energy, strain and wholesome delivery in those eyes!🖤💙
Manners has always been one of my favorite Band-Maid songs--I swear Misa Misa in places has got a serious Entwistle vibe going on! The power and facile melodic lines she's got going on is completely badass! I know she's listened to alot of British bassists. With Akane they make up one of the best rhythm sections in rock. Kanamincho on guitar is bringing it-so glad that she now has a PRS limited edition signature model that sold out in just a few days! All Hail Band-Maid--the Goddesses rock (not forgetting Saiki and the Pigeon Po!)
From funky Manners to frantic Black Hole, these two songs come from an online concert during Covid -- so no audience, just the band and their crew. The Japanese government subsidised musicians who produced videos over a certain length, so Band-Maid had to couple two songs together to meet the time limit. The songs come from different parts of the full online concert hence the fadeout between them. The bass is clear in both. The only thing missing was an audience to spur them on, but it was great treat during Covid.
Band-Maid just keeps getting better! Blues rock to speed rock, so versatile! Akane is a wizard behind her drum kit! Misa is a master on the bass! Vocals always great! Kanami on that lead PRS guitar is always satisfying and leaves you wanting more! Miku, red flower, the rhythm guitar and backing vocals is great, always, adding just the right extras! Saiki, blue flower, sure has a strong presence and command on stage, the Queen Maid! Come on October!
They came out with some new mv's this year. May i suggest Hate? and Don't You Tell ME. Also they co-wrote a song with Mike E. of Incubus called Bestie. As with all Band-Maid any song is good. 12:34
Another TOP Japanese all female Heavy Metal Bands LOVEBITES - live songs Set The World On Fire, The Hammer Of Wrath, Holy War.. NEMOPHILA - songs Revive, A Ray Of Light, Dissension, Raitei.. HANABIE - song We Love Sweets
So, Kanami, lead guitar and songwriter, has taken these guys into new territory since you last reacted. And the other monsters in the band are totally down with it. Checkout Blooming, Different, Sense, and No God. Can't wait for summer releases.
Black Hole reminds me of another song on the same subject by RUSH: "Cygnus X-1". These Girls are the embodiment of those former magnificent rockers. SO Good!
You have missed a great deal of music from this band. You need to come back and revisit the many songs that have been released. Eight albums and a new one due soon (January?) They are also going to tour the US (again) in October - all venues are sold out - These are some talented ladies and deserve being reacted to many more times.
Black Hole was named for its complexity. Every piece has to hit at precise times, often with a lot of variety from every instrument and vocalization, so it's kind of a nightmare, thus the name.
WARNING! It's bad MANNERS to stop listening to Band-Maid because you'll feel starved for musical excellence and joy and fall into a BLACK HOLE of emptiness... probably! 😵 Thx, Ed!
Hello/////it's been over a year since you reviewed any Band Maid.......I would suggest two new tracks...since you likes On Set so much check out aother instrumental From Now ON MV which features Kanami shredding thru the whole song and really shows you how far this band has come and their newest song Shambles MV which really highlights Akani's drumming . Both songs are a total JAM !!!!!
Yes I know, but the way I'm set up, hitting the space bar would pause my recording unless I move my mouse to focus on the RUclips player. So I'd have to move my mouse anyway.
If you've been gone for a while you've missed a lot. Hope your former compatriot is making out better. If you like BH try NO GOD from this same online concert. It has a killer bass line.

I went back to check out past Band Maid reactions .. Very nice job
You have some serious catching up to do .
Band-Maid and BABYMETAL are in a league of their own ! They both are the best thing that has happened to rock/metal in decades!!!!!
Pretty freakin’ awesome, huh!! Our maids simply don’t disappoint and are just getting better and better…🔥🔥🔥🤘🏼

Yeah, it seems very common for Japanese bands to do this, although Band-Maid probably have a higher than average proportion of English.
That's one smart pigeon
Love this band, they are amazing.
Have you noticed though that in every live performance and every group photo, they stand in exactly the same order, it is always (left to right) Misa, Akane, Miku, Saiki, Kanami.
Saiki's voice when singing Manners OMG, reminds me of Vocal Rock 80-90, a little bit of Alanis Morissette's voice is heard
From old school groove rock to chaos. Luv it
Regarding Black Hole Konami came to Akane and asked her what the highest BPM that she had drummed to. They then bumped it up a bit because Akane wanted a challenge! Also keep a close eye on Saiki's eyes!!
Her name is Kanami. Even the band members call her Kanami, NOT Konami.
KANAMI asked Herman Li (Dragon Force) what the fastest song he plays (225bpm) Kanami stated that 220 was her fastest (BLACK HOLE) but she would write a song for 225bpm.

Yes. Akane looked at what kanami wanted and the bpm and said " I guess this is what i have to do now"

Both songs were owned by Misa on the bass, with Akane on the kit as her trusty sidekick. The other three Maids are just "brilliant".
