As a lifelong Leon Russell fan, I must tell you I think you played this better than Leon did. Of course the guitar was his second instrument! Strongly recommend not only buying the CD, but buying the video as well.
Fantastic video lesson, not just because of the Leon Russel solo. The most valuable part to me was your explanation of how to improvise by singing and creating phrasing. Terrific teacher!
I saw Leon Russell play live in 2010, towards the end of his career. Have to admit my ignorance -- I didn't even know he played guitar. My knowledge of him was as a piano player/singer/songwriter.
I’ve been in a musical funk for the last 2 months (life problems) but I think you just gave the inspiration to pick up the guitar and say screw all the other crap in life! ✌️😎🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Just wondering if you would let me know the model of the digital piano you were using with the Riders of the Storm video you published several years back? Beautifully done BTW. Thanks for the consideration.
Dude. Serioulsy man. I'm a 40 year player. Trained in blues and then Rock and gig in an NYC band Dance/Rock band. Now my brother. I'm gonna ignore your sick lead chops. They were sick. It's like, as good as the 2nd solo is in Reelin In the Years. We all know it is Elliot Randall's FIRST solo that is better than his second one as phenomenal as that was. Ok. Here is my point... THE BACKING TRACK HERE!!!! Is that you bro?? Is that with a band? Please tell me the players in that backing track and how it was recorded. Such a groove, such a pocket! Please tell who that was? Doug in NY
The Beatles never played it live. The only live thing, one could call a gig, after they stopped touring, was the rooftop Let it Be recordings. Even then, they played all the songs more than once, except One After 909 and Dig a Pony. Aerosmith played it live, and Paul played it live. Beatles didn’t play any live gigs, by Rubber Soul. *You talking about a studio take?
Dude.. I would really like to take gitaarles from you.. Every considered something like this? (ive asked this a few years ago by the way, maybe you remember.. We shared our love for Hendrix) :)
Huge Thanks to all patrons for your support! Your Tabs are available here bit.ly/3OUVO3a

Good one Thom! LR was great & I never knew that he played on that song. Thanks & hope that all is well with you & your family! 👍👍🎸🎸
Love this !! great solo to highlight. Leon was one talented man.
Amazing riff, and incredibly well played. Awesome!
Love that you started to the point with the riff, keep it up
Awesome video! Love the tone. Could you do (or have you done) a video demonstrating how you get great tone for blues guitar solos?
You are very good !!!!!!! Keep on rocking!!!!!!
Ya done extra good, Pilgrim.

Great, Master! Thank you!
I winced with delight hearing your nasty 2 note bend all the way over here. Thanks GP

Yes. My favorite Leon records were his first, second and the Asylum Choir II with Marc Benno.

I guess it just wasn't enough for Leon to be merely a master piano player (+ singer + songwriter)...
Yes sir, that's tasty
thought this cat just played piano!!!!!!

@@CorbCorbin yes, it’s brilliant… with a bit of banter in between. Paul’s voice is incredible on it.

Im preparing a Hendrix online course, stay tuned!
Can I come over and clean your guitar fingerboards, please?
Russell played a cool solo, but I just can’t get into Joe Cocker singing this.
Not sure what is going on. Can't play this vid?
