I was there with my 2 18 year sons...it was the 4th time they saw Bob in concert...the first was in Niagara Falls, NY in 1975 (TWICE) R$TR when thy were 5 years bold, then Kalamazoo in 1978 -- an dozens more with me and my wife. (One of my twin sons is named Guthrie.")
I saw 5 shows 88-89, while the rest of the audience was in their chairs, I was watching floating 5 feet in the air, totally taken away by the incredible character and quality of the shows.
I remember hearing friends talking about seeing this gig. I'm sorry I never saw a gig during the GE era. The acoustic sets alone were worth the price of admission. And Kenny Aaronson was the most propulsive bassist Dylan ever had. Just amazing.
This is not rock'n roll. This is WAR.
G.E. Smith is one of the finest guitarists. Period.
love this Bob is awesome n so is G E Smith , on guitar
Sweet Marie amaze ing
I saw Dylan and his band a number of times during the '88-'92 G E Smith era of the Neverending Tour. This concert - a very fine one indeed - takes me back 40+ years to the excitement and awe I felt at Dylan's reconnection with his performance muse. The dirty garage band sound and attitude brought to songs like 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' and 'Stuck Inside Of Mobile...' here, even Dylan has rarely bettered.
Thanks William G...! I was there that evening with my twin 17 year old sons...brought back a lot of nice old memories! My sons first saw Bob in Niagara Falls, NY in 1975, when they were just 5 years old...and later on, saw dozens more of U.S. & Canadian venues w/ BD right up till now -- raised on Bob, so cool, eh? Lots of Fun...!
I was there plus saw 6 more 88 shows.... The memories will last
I cannot believe I am seeing this! I know that 1988 was when I first went to a Dylan concert. It may have been the Hamilton concert or both the Toronto and Hamilton concerts.
80s Dylan is so underrated. Finally getting some recognition with this latest bootleg series. Hope more and more 80s stuff trickles out in the future. Can’t get enough. Thanks for the upload!
What a band!
best Dylan Tour Ever! 1988 in particular, the best year, Dylan singing with new life and vigor, tight and stripped down band, brilliant that Dylan turned in this direction compared to what his shows were like in the prior years of the 80's,
He must thank the dead
I've heard NRPS play 'Absolutely Sweet Marie' hundreds of times but never Dylan. Sick Thanks!
Thanks to all for download help! Neither Bob or Smith ever get old. What a GREAT show to be at.
For years I longed to watch these concerts featuring G .E Smith on guitar and the acoustic sets that rose to extraordinary heights
Saw it in London now when Europe is in danger its significant to listen to hard rain
Gotta love this uptempo Bob, saw him in 89 and did he rock!
Saw him that year, too, at Merriweather. Amazing...
YEAH BOB HONEY YOU YOUR BAND AND THE SINGERS ARE THE BEST REAL LEGENDS I AM JUST SMOKING AND LISTENING TO YOU A CAT HAVE EATEN AND NOW HE IS CACHING MICE I DO NOT HAVE MY OLD SHEPHERD DOG ROCKY ANYMORE HE IS DEAD AND I AM VERY SAD YOU CONFORTS ME

Great post man!!! The sound is better than expected and the feel is epic!!! Love this Jam period of Dylans!!!

BOB DYLAN 'timeless icon'....enough said. 👍
wow " wonderful " a hard rain's " ...... great thanks again .....♥♥♥
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN MY DARLING YOUNG ONE
Loved the 88' tour, overlooked tour but very solid especially with GE!
Dylan is the star and GE Smith rules the guitar.
tres beau concert ma matinee commence bien formidable bd a jouer la musique que j aime merci keith
I think that's The Alarm. They opened for Bob when I saw him in Chicago that same year. Good band.
Yes that is the Alarm - nice catch. They were a refreshing choice of opener, didn't mind at all.
@@BrianMackenziebelovin Before the Alarm took the stage there was about a 30 minute set from a VERY young Jason Bonham Band, at the Chitown gig
Bob Dylan is incredibly talented!
Gracias from Spain
yes it is you whom I need and looking for you are the one Bob honey
Great show..
Best band he ever had with G.E. and Kenny Aaronson (bass).
Wonderful gig!!!
I shot another a year or two later in Toronto. It’s on my channel too.
Oh my goodness!!this is awesome!!!1988 is in my opinion,is bob's greatest year!!A bold statement and i'm standing by it!! Let me hit you with another bold statement,GE is the greatest guitar player bob ever played with!! i'm a huge fan of almost all the guitar players he chose along the way,but GE is so perfect with bob,at 10mins 34 secs,GE points at bob and it's just an amazing moment!!there's so much i'd love to write about this, but it's late and i've gotta get to bed, thanks for uplloading.☺☺
Totally agree with almost everything, Its pure preference at these levels but for me Mick Taylor is the greatest guitarist Bob (or just about anyone for that matter) played with
@@alasdairmorrison7775 Mick is incredible!! but his playing was very samey on that tour,(that sounds like i'm putting him down, anything but,i love everything about his playing!!),but in terms of versatility,GE takes the crown for me!!but just like picking a fave bob song (or 10☺),we don't have to choose, just thank bob for his epic choice of guitar players!!
@@bigtom1001 Larry Campbell, for me
@@ericdiamond373 Larry is fantastic!! The combo of him and charlie is awesome!!! Or him and Bucky!! great choice!!
Agree. G E Smith's blend of power chords (I almost expect him to do "the windmill", but he's got far too much taste and respect to want to take anything away from Bob) and beautifully relevant solo's is wonderful.
I could listen to his playing of Memphis Blues all day.
great year for shows.

Mark Anon No, you help me out you deserve to be acknowledged.
Oh wow - I was at this show. The sound was terrible. I was not a huge Dylan fan at the time (like I am now!) and so my expectations were not much of an issue, but one does generally expect at least a respectably decent quality of sound from a professional touring musician and crew. I have since gotten the impression this has been an ongoing issue for Bob at times (by now after being on endless tour for so many decades I truly hope this is a thing of the past!).
I subsequently saw him open for the Dead several times the next year, which I enjoyed far more. Very happy to see this show posted, though, so I can compare my very thin recollection of this event to what evidence is brought to light about the "actual" quality etc of this show.
Listen to the music play, and Namaste!

A tru genius....
GE has a lot of charisma - outshining Bob!

I’ve been to Hamilton in Bermuda and there’s one in Scotland too. A place I avoided. Where is this Hamilton, anyone?
I too have been to Hamilton Scotland. Was born near there. This on is in Ontario Canada near where I currently live.
@@LucidVideoGuy wow. You Scots get everywhere!
I’ve got some Scottish far out relative who was called Hammie cos he was born in Hamilton. Well that’s what his unimaginative Irish relatives called him!
@@LucidVideoGuy I’ve been to Toronto. How far away is Hamilton Ontario
