- A quick easy way on how to remove plastic clips from you car using something everyone has in the house. These auto fastener clips can be difficult to remove, especially without the right tools (amzn.to/3M1Ucm6). These clips can be found on nearly every make and model and hold your interior and exterior coverings in place. If you are attempting a quick repair and don't have an automotive pry tool kit, try a common kitchen fork!

If you are in need of a fastening clip but don’t have the correct tools available, take a fork and bend the inner prongs outward for an easy and quick diy auto clip pry tool. It's an effective and cheap way of removing these bumper, molding, and trim clips without much damage, allowing you to re-use them again and again.
Removing a car fastener clip can vary depending on the type of clip and the vehicle make and model. Here is a general process for removing a fastener clip:
1. Locate the fastener clip. It may be located on the interior or exterior of the vehicle and can be found holding various parts in place, such as trim panels, door panels, and upholstery.
2. Identify the type of clip. There are several types of fastener clips, such as push-type, twist-type, or Christmas tree clips. Each type requires a different approach for removal.
3. Gather the necessary tools. Depending on the type of clip, you may need pliers, a flat-head screwdriver, a trim tool, or a special clip removal tool.
4. Begin by carefully prying the clip out of its position using the appropriate tool. Be careful not to damage the surrounding area.
5. If the clip is a push-type, you may need to use a flat-head screwdriver or a trim tool to gently pry it out.
6. If the clip is a twist-type, you may need to use a pair of pliers to twist it back and forth until it releases.
7. Some clips are Christmas tree clips, they have a center pin that needs to be pressed down to release the clip. In this case, you may need a special clip removal tool or a flat-head screwdriver.
8. Once the clip is released, carefully remove it from the vehicle and dispose of it properly.
It's important to be gentle and careful when removing fastener clips, as they can be easily damaged or broken, which can make reinstallation difficult or impossible. If you are unsure about how to remove a particular clip, consult the vehicle's service manual or a professional mechanic for guidance.

do I need to remove the part off my fork? What tools can I use as a substitution, also will it damage the screw because I don’t have replacement ones.
Dr. McCoy: "It's dead, Jim...", stick a fork in it!
Useful when I needed a quick answer. Much appreciated.
good one
THANKS
This guy is smart he uses a kitchen fork instead of a fancy tool and it works! Just how to remove a bumper and fix the bumper clips ???? No one did a step by step video on that !
I occasionally add to several boxes of junk just in case. You never know when you may need a particular shape for a repair. Yard sales are a good source for old, obscure things the seller may give away,
Worked well for me. Thanks.
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
+Erich Schulte glad it helped, thanks for watching!
Nice, fork worked well for me also.
Thanks for watching!
That looks like an expensive fork. Don’t let the wife catch you!

"This is just a common fork..."
*shows fancy-ass fork
😏
Nothing but the best for my ride :)
Looks silver! Very fancy.
thats a cool fork
😏
🍴
My fasteners refused to come out, so I said Fork You!
That’s a lovely fork 😅
Nothing but the best for my clips!
Thanks bb
You forking kidding me
He didn't have to fork out any bucks for it either!
Amazing
Great video, Hope it does the trick for me.
Just remember to twist while pulling the tab out. Thanks for watching!
I used the fork to get it started, and a hammer claw to finish it. The fasteners on a radiator cover come out super hard.
Are you turning counterclockwise when pulling out? That seems to help when I do it.
How would they benefit to make it easy and affordable for the hardworking consumer who has/is paid/paying for an overpriced product to repair and/or maintain that product on their own without overriding every single part in the vehicle/product and making it very difficult to do it yourself without a special tool and knowledge.!! But thanks to you and many others with great advice, knowledge, and sometimes just an opinion on what helped for you...may go along way for others. THANKS
Yep, car manufacturers not only outsource jobs to save on labor, but they also took tax payer loans after the 2008 crisis, and still have the nerve to nickel and dime the consumer.
nice fork
Girlfriend still hasn't found out I took it :)
not anymore.
Son of a gun it worked!
Thank you so much, this is really helpful!!!
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
How do i remove one that the head broke on????
Grab it with tweezers or needle nose pliers or drill into it
Do the screwed clips just screw into the car floor ?
Yep, more or less. It's not as easy as a traditional screw, but it is threaded and has to be turned in order to be pushed in.
Aunque no entendí el idioma me sirvió el tip
How do you install those clips?
They should just push back in, but may need to be turned clockwise to fully seat.
This looks like MacGyver he made in during the 80s I like this I hope can make me some to buy some please
Chevy Malibu 2013 trunk clips hard to move
2014 Honda Accord as well
Your f@!$&*%× awsome dude thanks so much lol
Thanks for watching!
Wow wish I would’ve found this video first. I just busted two clips.
That is so not a common fork, that thing is beautiful
Only the best for my car :)
@@AFireMedia Got that right!
I used some jumper cables and pulled them out
clever! and the manufacturer using these type of fastener are just stupid. making routine maintenance and repair so difficult. and you have to prepare for some spare rivets in your car.
Dr J悟 I agreed
Yeaj i hate those clips..tuns a 5 min job into a 30min job just trying to remove those clips
Manufacturers are penny pinchers and like making money by forcing customers to the car's dealers. Otherwise choose from a non-corporate mechanic who possibly hires ex- felons. I won't be too sad when electric cars take over.
Lol.
I think they actually made them that way to prevent them from pulling it on their own. Durability.
Also, there are no edges so you don't accidentally pry them off while doing normal things like putting big stuff in the trunk.
If i take them out i must replace them?
As long as they are in good condition, they can be reused.
Nah just zip tie it
The fork was almost designed for removing clips
A fork?
Indeed, works well in a pinch.
How do you put them back in?
Generally, you will want to push them in slightly then turn clockwise while gently pushing inward. This should seat it fully and clip into place.
NICE! NOW HOW DO YOU PROPERLY PUT IT BACK IN?
I gently push in while turning slightly. I don't turn as much as I would a screw, but eventually it will find its way in and seat fully.
@@AFireMedia Thank you!
How do you put it back in ?
you dont
What would I do? Get a new one?
@@zannymoss yes...some wont go back in...thats how they are designed
What a bs
Bro I was using a flat head. This works 1milliom times better
What are the name of these clips I need to order some. HELPP 😱
I think they're just called mold retaining clips. Hope it helps!
this saved my fingers. otherwise i would have red fingers by now
Those clips can be painful without the right tool! Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
I can see my going through a shit load of forks before I find the right one… I’ll point my angry wife in your direction. I’m sure you can take her wrath!
Putting them back…ugh
How did you put them back?
That is not a normal fork
True that, but I promise even the most basic of forks will work :)
But how do you cook them and how do they taste??
Same as any mushroom but these are tougher.
What the fork!
Hello, I am a supplier of auto clips and removal tools from China. Do you need auto clips or removal tools?
Obviously not mans made one with a fork 🤣
@@swaelee3004 😂🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Those are the worst clips
You can buy a 1 dollar flat head and cut the center out and bend to what you want also
Zack Ryan Or you can just walk in the kitchen and grab a fork.
Very poor method
It would have been more helpful without so much excess talking with the annoying Canadian accent.
Is it how you say thank you in american? :)
