Alfie have you heard of a Soda Stream? It's a machine that carbonates stuff instantly. We had one growing up and we used to put cordial in it and have fizzy cordial. Or orange juice. You just press a button and it's done. I don't know if you can get them in the U.K. but you used to be able to buy them from shops in Australia.
A quick search on amazon explains that these are used for brewing beer and generally used to replace the sugar fermenting process and add some fizz to the brewed beer. Also took about 30 seconds on the amazon questions to see they usually are left for "atleast 3 weeks" I know nothing about this process but it took me about 2 minutes to find out this information...

Case anyone is curious the reason it didn't work is because the carbonation, I presume essentially just sugar tablets, are meant to react to the active live yeast in beer. It has to do with the fermentation process. Live yeast consumes the sugar, which produces CO2 to carbonate the beer. Milk and smoothies also contain microbes that probably reacted to the tablet which is why a slight fizz was felt. I would be much more concerned if it did work as it would mean the drinks are contaminated with something. Much love for the video.

Basically Sodium Carbonate when dissolved releases carbon dioxide which when in water can form carbonic acid which makes drinks fizzy. However having too much carbonic acid would actually make the drink very sour and could potentially curdle milk. I think first try dissolving it in some water and test the right amounts till you actually get something fizzy the use different juices and liquids.
i think that would be one of the cool parts of being a youtuber, getting random packages of cool stuff!! Also side note Alfie literally really does do everything he says and never really puts it off he always finds a way to make it happen!

Alfie my dad made homemade beer! He had to leave the tightly secured bottles of beer for about 6months in room temp environments. When we opened the beer after 6 months the beer was fizzy according to my dad! But we only put half a capsule in each bottle! Sorry Alfie but I'm pretty sure they were only designed for beer making 😂 You should do more of these videos though they are fun to watch! X

Yup, they react with the yeast. Alfie should've researched how the carbonation drops actually do the carbonating first.
