My bland black box Metcal stands undefeated! I did think about those 2 plugs being mixed up on your initial tear down. 👍

I've been using this exact station for almost 5 months now and I can say I am more than happy with it and its performance.
The only draw back as you mentioned is it doesn't go into a stand by mode with a reduced temperature when its in the cradle but else it goes into a complete sleep mode where it completely cut the power to the tip, which is not abig deal but still counts.

Which unit _would_ you recommend, for quickness (i.e. ~100W?) , proper sleep-mode implementation, and reasonable one-time and recurring costs?

Get Jabe UD-1200 or Aixun T420d

SDG When is your website up again? I've been looking foreward to some projects of yours but since your website is down and thats the only place I can find your projects, I've been wondering when it's up again.:)

More pretty appearance than T420 as for me. But only 60W max with C245... I use genuine C245 tips with my T420 exactly where high power is needed with massive tips as 966 or 908. For most other scenarios, C115 is enough.
I didn’t see in the video whether 57...60W is enough to maintain the set temperature of the thermocouple of your genuine tip in the test with a coin. Or is there a some temperature drop indicates?

      No temperature drop, I’m sure.
But 50W while soldering is A LOT. For reference, Metcal MX (#1 in the coin test) is 40W maximum into the tip.

Hi SDG, could update your playlists with the new videos? I found quite a few newer videos that weren't in the playlists they should be and it made it difficult to finish my research on the hot air rework station and soldering station I'm going to buy soon. Thanks!

I saw comments saying this particular station has a firmware “bug” and it needs updating 🤦‍♂️ Maybe then it’ll work as advertised.

So they have indeed swapped the two winding. But that transformer is still underpower for the carriage.
In Italy we call the connector key system "antisbaglio" wich is mean "anti-mistake" no wonder why 😂.

it's also poor choice of wire colour for a device that's going to be CE marked.

"Intelligence Thermostatic Soldering Station". Yes, it's so "intelligence" that you need to check the wiring. That's one of the many reasons I refrain from buying these chinese turds.

    dang 1/3 unwanted adverts.
"dont turn it on, take it apart", that is the way forward for any social media tech-influencer and then mess up the resampling, and bltch about faulty product that doesn't work according to specs from your own faulty resampling.
