I knew who Greg was talking about from the get go. For me, Atomic timekeeping is not a deal breaker, and while I don't need to the second accuracy like Atomic and nightly auto-setting provides, it's just such a neat feature, I love it. I actually don't mind watching the other guys videos...but somebody like Greg will always have that extra level of trust. I believe what Greg is saying, because of how Greg carries himself. Plus, when he has tons of videos and I've NEVER seen a single clock or watch not set correctly to the second(unless it is off for a reason, like his digital watch accuracy video)...that means something.
Talking about 'The time teller', right Yeah, he did another one last week again talking about budgets. I'm not an American, but even I could actually look up the budget information for your country could not find any info on the cuts to the Atomic time anywhere. He was also complaining about the cost difference which in regards to Casio watches you can always buy the cheaper watch. Then he went on a rant about BlueTooth and how you have to turn on the app then sync the watch to the app. Not actually realising that you don't even need the app running and the watch syncs to the time on the phone, you don't have to touch a thing. I put it down to just a plain rant. You know the meme 'Old man screams at cloud.'
The first time I ever considered buying a casio Multi Band 6 watch was after seeing one of Greg's videos. I looked into it, and as I live in the UK and it would be worthwhile for me. There is now 8 casio watches in my house with Multi Band 6 and all receive at 2:02AM every night, and have been reliable so far.
Couldn't agree more I also bought my first multi band 6 after Greg's videos, I've now got 6 MB6 Casio's and hope to get more, also as I live about 100mls. from Anthorn transmitter no signal problems.

Any changes in the past year in the reliable future of the radio signals? Just wondering if I am still good to buy a radio signal watch. Thank you for your videos.
Atomic clock synchronization by radio is a marvelous technology. Even if you live in a hollow or shadow, or an old house with lead paint, as I do, the feature can readily be used with an android app such as that put out by Junghans. The Junghans app is a vast step up from what was previously cludged together by Casio in a rush in the aftermath of an Earthquake that shut down a radio tower in Japan. The Ft. Collins radio shutdown scare was the result of a misinterpretation of a federal government funding exercise. It was never intended to be made public. Federal Government financial appropriations are a weird and esoteric world, largely divorced from logic. Some people may prefer bluetooth synchronization to radio synchronization. To each his own. I prefer the older and simpler technology.
@@realisticallysimple As I understand it, the Ft. Collins radio signal was never at risk of defunding. A budgetary exercise was leaked and misinterpreted in a sort of classic game of "telephone". It's a cautionary tale about how the internet multiplies and accelerates urban legends.
Love my atomic-clock radio receiver gadgets! I have an atomic g-shock, a (non-wifi) atomic weather station, etc. So glad it was a rumor, and yes, you do have to fiddle a little bit with your atomic gadget (facing it the correct direction, etc.), but once it's set up, it's set up!
I have both atomic and non-atomic. I like them. But they are more expensive. For example the Gshock 5600 square is $48 on Amazon. The same watch in the atomic version (+solar) is $90+. Is it worth it? Not really, as the non-atomic is very accurate. But if you like atomic go for it.
There is an element of utility in the fact that I like the atomic function, but the dominant reason I like it is more the “coolness” of the tech and some of the history behind the atomic clock. If you’re thinking about the watch in purely utilitarian terms , I can see the case that mainstream consumers of g-shocks may not get too much added value that warrants the extra £ . Lots of aspects of watch channels can be annoying , but I’m an advocate of folks having a go without being world leading experts .
I agree, but if you claim to be a "watch channel," and by the way are selling merchandise based on being a "watch channel," then the bare minimum you should know is the basics of watches and how they work. The problem is he's not really a "watch channel," he's a "merchandising channel," yet another of these "entrepreneurs" who wants to position himself as an "authority" on a subject based on the number of subscribers he has, his presence on social media, and his ability to market himself as an authority. He's not qualified, which is painfully obvious watching his content. It's not that he doesn't know what he's talking about, that's not the problem; the problem is that he presents himself as if he DOES know what he's talking about. That just perpetuates misinformation, and misinformation is NOT "harmless." BTW, and related, your channel has some of the best researched videos on the subject of watches that can be found on youtube.
@@FuglyStick You are too kind. I am definitely no expert, but I hopefully make up for it in enthusiasm. Love Greg’s stuff - very different to me though (and he has a lot more genuine expertise!). I do still tend towards giving people the benefit of the doubt and all power to people making a living from RUclips as long as its not out and out dodgy behaviour. My channel just about covers my phone bill (before tax!) which is fine by me!
I bought a casio waveceptor and it's an amazing watch and works perfect here in the UK. It's in need of a new battery but thanks to your video's Greg I'm going to do it myself. I have a dozen or so watches of all types. Wind up, quartz, automatic. I love them all but without a doubt, the one I RELY on the most is the wavecepter. Oh and you're forgiven for the clickbait title Greg lol. Keep making the great video's 👍
There are several available at Amazon, some with smaller capacities, but the largest ones appear to be the ones holding 24 watches. Here is one a.co/d/ggw3hGM And I bought one which costs a bit more but looks very similar. a.co/d/efJSL7J
I love radio controlled watches, because I need to catch trains and be punctual at meetings on a daily basis. Not having to worry about if my watch is "still accurate enough" gives me much peace of mind 😁👍
damn greg, you are fired up!! I too have purchased MANY (too many says my wife) "atomic" watches after watching my first "the good timekeeper" video and am extraordinarily glad i did. keep up the good work
Here's a hack to improve your "atomic" (actually radio) reception: hang your watch around a metal pole, like a curtain rod, near a window. Leaving it there will dramatically increase the number of nights that you get a solid sync.
I know you would know this question can you leave them by a window at night and then leave them by a window in the day if it's warm but if the room is cool is that okay
They can't just shut the Atomic Time Signal down without letting us know WAY in advance. Casio couldn't be selling radio wave watches if they knew the American Multiband was closing down. I live in Spain and have heard the German and UK stations were getting shut down too. They are still up and running. Anyway, thanks to Greg I have the Junghams app installed on my phone which would set my Multiband 6 to atomic time anyway. The Casio Multiband watches are great and work well. When I am in Ireland my watch sets itself easily from the UK atenna. In the South of Spain where I live it's a bit more difficult to pick up the signal from the German atenna. However, I have found that it works most nights and that's fine by me. I think Multiband is well worth the extra money, especially paired with the Tough Solar system.
I would just enjoy their quartz accuracy. But, here we are, about FIVE years after the rumors were flying around the watch community and other guys on RUclips were spreading the rumors but... we still have WWVB!

On a serious note I did see a video that sounds pretty similar to what you’re describing before I bought a multi band watch; funny how things have come full circle because I was sceptic about the claims so I did my own research, came across your page at some point and became a fan of your videos. Now every morning I look at my gw-m5610(&1b), gw-m6900 stating [RCVD] and smile that I made the right choice 😎
@@GoodTimekeeper Yeah, I've used the Fort Collins Colorado radio transmission for many years if not decades to set old and new "atomic" alarms and clocks alike. Best time to get the signal is in the middle of the night so the waves can bounce off the ionosphere, putting something in a westward facing window or similar with a view of the sky above the horizon, assuming you're to the east, of course. Often these devices will pick up the signal on their own sooner or later anyway, though it might take a couple days. At least that's been my experience. And boy is it accurate. I've tested it to within 1 second accuracy, often several seconds more accurate than my cell phone even.
I have to disagree with Greg on the particular point of the car review. The post saying "the fwd version was not working and I should have bought the awd version" is actually quite valuable to a prospective purchaser...
I know exactly which video is being referenced here as I remember watching and disliking it. I live in a location in Canada that is 2,600km away from the WWVB transmitter in Fort Collins, and yet my radio-controlled watches sync overnight about 80% of the time (higher in winter, lower in summer). The rate is closer to 100% if I go to the trouble of placing them next to a specific window. To accomplish this amazing feat, I looked at a map to get an idea of the compass bearing of Fort Collins relative to my location, and then I looked at the owner's manuals to see where the watches' antennas are located (12 o'clock on Casio, 9 o'clock on Citizen). Then I simply point any given watch's antenna in the approximate direction of Fort Collins before going to bed and it almost always syncs up overnight. This technology is completely archaic in 2024, but I love it nonetheless because it is so cool 😎
Wow know we know what "Really Grinds His Gears" It's like he is saying he will take responsibility for the product as long as that person takes responsibility on how to correctly use the product
Not silly at all. In fact, you 🎯hit on a subject that for a long time, now, has been one of my "pet peeves" with RUclips. Thank you sir. PS... I love your Casio watch collection... 😊👍👍👍😊
The World is way bigger as the United States. I have two atomic watches, like a Casio wave capture en a Citizen radio control with solar cells. Great watches.
I had a friend many years ago who needed an accurate watch for timing a multi day event. He went to the dollar store and bought 10 cheap $1 quartz digital watches, set them all with WWV and checked them a week later. He then used the one that kept the most accurate time for the event. $10 for an accurate watch sounded like a great idea to me! I don't think they even make these cheap watches anymore, and if they do, they're probably $2.50 each now . Still, $25 isn't so bad. :-)
@@LV-42617 Is the video not titled "The Good Timekeeping Show?" I prefer GPSDO's and Atomic Clocks myself, but I am merely highlighting a technique one could use in a pinch if one needed a more accurate timepiece. That being said, I would like to note my friend didn't take temperature into account, so his entire procedure might have been flawed, but it IS a useful technique. Perhaps for others knowing a more correct time is more than a status symbol.
@@ernestsmith3581I have over 50 quartz watches, the "worst" gains about 30 seconds/month, the best gains about 2 seconds within a half year. I don't care at all for atomic/GPS/ Bluetooth timekeeping at all, knowing that a month is roughly 2.6 million seconds, the 30 seconds off are next to nothing. I do have GPS watches and a few radio controlled Casio s though, but I simply don't care for their "accuracy".
The real problem is the lack of sufficient coverage across the US: anyone more than 700 miles straight-line from Ft. Collins will have intermittent signal, and those >1200 miles away will pick it up infrequently except during the winter. Alaska and Hawaii? Once or twice a year if you're lucky. Far better tech is GPS-based, which is why I rely on a Citizen Satellite Wave as my reference standard now.
Hogwash, I'm in Alabama...roughly around 1,400 miles as the crow flies from Ft. Collins, CO and my Casio multiband 6 watches have no trouble syncing automatically to the atomic clock.
Yup, NIST's WWVB channel going down was a big hoax, good you're covering this. My Multi band 6 watches are the ones I set my regular quartz watches too, and subsequently my mechanical watches. good video as always Greg!
I stopped watching videos from people that obviously can’t be bothered with reading the manual for a watch they are reviewing. The simple-minded are unaware of their own ignorance. As a person acquires knowledge, they learn how much more they do not know.
I think Dubai is out-of-range for the Multiband 6 transmitters in Europe, China and Japan. But if you buy a G-Shock with Bluetooth (or one which has Multband 6 AND Bluetooth in the same watch) then you'll still get that atomic time accuracy anywhere you are (along with your smartphone).
I can tell from your other videos and from this one that you are very passionate about watches. I agree with you that the video you are responding to seems very ill informed. For this video I would say try to focus on atomic sync watches and what are the pros and cons of the tech. Why do you think this technology may stay on for a while. Aside from regular home usage who else uses this? Is it used as backup for NTP or GPS time on critical services such as healthcare? I just want to provide some constructive criticism, keep up the good work!

The Time Teller disliked this video.
i buy what i want and what i like i dont buy stuff to impress people that i dont like
I have both atomic and non-atomic. I like them. But they are more expensive. For example the Gshock 5600 square is $48 on Amazon. The same watch in the atomic version (+solar) is $90+. Is it worth it? Not really, as the non-atomic is very accurate. But if you like atomic go for it.
Greg, your words are full of wisdom. Thanks!
This show is addicting! Great work Greg 👍🏻
That just perpetuates misinformation, and misinformation is NOT "harmless."
BTW, and related, your channel has some of the best researched videos on the subject of watches that can be found on youtube.
I love your honestly and integrity. I’m subbing for sure.
I to saw that video before this one lol. Can I please get the watch case you use for your g-shock squares? Links or any info, thanks
There are several available at Amazon, some with smaller capacities, but the largest ones appear to be the ones holding 24 watches. Here is one a.co/d/ggw3hGM
And I bought one which costs a bit more but looks very similar. a.co/d/efJSL7J
Just be careful to keep the watch from getting hot. Otherwise there’s no such thing as giving the watch too much light.
Thank you
I also thought it was dumb when I watched that video. The solar capabilities alone are worth the extra money!
Love the rant & I love my casio atomic & solar watches!
Good rant Greg.................................
love the atomic time and solar features. They are a must have
But what would you do with your large collection of RC watches if the tower would shut down?
I would just enjoy their quartz accuracy. But, here we are, about FIVE years after the rumors were flying around the watch community and other guys on RUclips were spreading the rumors but... we still have WWVB!
Have you ever decided to review the Oceanus? I've recently bought a T200 and I love it. IMO Best watch under $500!
What’s funny is that I literally saw the video that you were talking about before watching this
Was it Jory goodman? Cause he just put out a video on this last week again.😅😅 Frankly I don't see it cause so much scientific, Survey and military equipment use it.
Oh Jory is the Time Teller! on youtube. I watch his stuff and I can't tell if he's trolling people or just not as smart as he thinks he is sometimes.😅😅 Maybe his beard grew into his brain?😂😂
i feel you 100%
i live in southern greece which is off the dcf77 transmission
still every night all my atomic time devices synchronize just fine
wall clocks , casios , citizens ,
i love this technology
GET EM GRAIG lol.
I’m glad Multiband 6 is working for you. Contrary to what some have said, it’s not a gimmick.
Great, a voice to my frustration!
Thanks Greg.
Wow know we know what "Really Grinds His Gears"
It's like he is saying he will take responsibility for the product as long as that person
takes responsibility on how to correctly use the product
I don't think you realize, how truly funny this is Greg 👏😂
December 2022 and my atomic G-Shocks are working like a charm.
Love your enthusiasm
Thank GOD we still have the Atomic CLOCK ⏰ GREAT VIDEO ! Greg keep up the good work 😅
I have worn Atomic watches for years and they are brilliant , again it's all bull spread by idiots !
I can relate to heavily to this video, it hurts.
25 seconds in and I already knew who you were talking about Lmao 🤣
Awesome!
I know who you are talking about… its the Timeteller for sure 😂😂😂
This video was great Greg 👍🏼
✌🏼😎👍🏼
Not for nothing, but at least the time teller can tell time.
Great video. Thank you. I feel like this is the Atomic Radio watch video that Norm MacDonald would have made.
Cheers! Greg
Your point?
@@LV-42617 Is the video not titled "The Good Timekeeping Show?"
I prefer GPSDO's and Atomic Clocks myself, but I am merely highlighting a technique one could use in a pinch if one needed a more accurate timepiece.
Agree with you on a lot of the topic here, thanks for your passion man!
You’re the reason I got a wave ceptor watch might get another if it goes on offer 😂👍
I agree with you 100%, well done
Thomas A Anderson
Yup, NIST's WWVB channel going down was a big hoax, good you're covering this.
My Multi band 6 watches are the ones I set my regular quartz watches too, and subsequently my mechanical watches.
good video as always Greg!
I stopped watching videos from people that obviously can’t be bothered with reading the manual for a watch they are reviewing. The simple-minded are unaware of their own ignorance. As a person acquires knowledge, they learn how much more they do not know.
I would like to buy atomic watch what is your recommend for me I live in Dubai
I think Dubai is out-of-range for the Multiband 6 transmitters in Europe, China and Japan. But if you buy a G-Shock with Bluetooth (or one which has Multband 6 AND Bluetooth in the same watch) then you'll still get that atomic time accuracy anywhere you are (along with your smartphone).
Yes. The funny thing is these videos seem to get lots of views.
I just want to provide some constructive criticism, keep up the good work!
gave you a thumb up. love prorek atomic. but you seem really upset. calm down. not that important.
All my Gshock have multiband6
