Being unbiased.....At the outset. Murali Shane Warne got the records. Two of the Greatest of all time. No question. But From what I have heard from many Great Batesman......The most difficult bowler to face was Wasim Akram. There have been many Great Fast bowlers...... Especially from the West Indies!! But Akram would be my pick!! If I had to pick a Bowler. It's my personal opinion.

No man, Warne is the most overatted bowler of all time .look at his poor stats. He played many test matches than other bowlers but took less wickets . When you check the stats muralitharan ,mcgrath and kumble are the fastest bowlers to reach 600 test wickets .
Warne played more matches than Mcgrath ,so he took 700 wickets .Mcgrath is the greatest bowler produced by Australia .
There is a no competition between Muralitharan and warne
Muralitharan - 133 test matches - 800 test wickets - 67 fivr wicket hauls
Warne - 145 matches - 708 wickets - 37 five wicket hauls .
Muralitharan is miles ahead than warne .
On the other hand warne has only 293 odi wickets in his whole career . Lets keep Akram ,Muralitharan ,Mcgrath aside.Waqar younis is also a better odi bowler than Warne.
As you say many batsman say that Wasim Akram is the most toughest bowler to face.
In my opinion the greatest bowlers of all time,( odi + test )
Muralitharan > Akram = Mcgrath > Ambrose > Warne
