Thanks for the video Adam! I just found my first Blewit's(I hope???) today almost 2 years to the day since you posted this. I am still not 100% sure if they are the ones, but I am doing a spore print right now to make sure they dont have the rusty brown spore prints from the look alike Cortinarius poisonous types. I found mine on a huge leave litter, and on the bottom of the stems of the mushroom is a dark composty looking substrate with some spots of white substance that looks like it may be mycelium. I found mine in an oak forest. Didnt see any rings on them. I think I have the right ones. Thanks!

I have been watching your videos lately and they really help! Yesterday watched this video for the first time I think and then today I came across blewits for the 1st time in 2 separate locations. This last location was a mix of pine and cedar trees planted in rows beneath the dam here in my small Kansas town.

Hi Adam! I love your videos and have learned so much from them! Could you add a segment on Flowery Blewits, aka Lepista/Clitocybe Irina? I think I found some today while looking for regular Blewits. I did find 3 Blewits just outside a huge fairy circle of white mushrooms that I would have sworn were blewits if they weren't pure white. They smelled the same, had the same shape, size, bulbous stipe, leaf litter location, etc. But I can't find any info on them in video form except in Russian or Spanish...Yikes!

Hello, I have watched your videos and I'm very interested in collecting wild mushrooms . I Live in central NY and recently walking around my friends property I found what I believe to be gem studded puffballs but because I am over cautious I'm afraid to try eating it. So my question to you is 1 are there any mushroom clubs in central NY that you know of that might join and 2 what is the best reference book to get to use when in the field ? Thank you Mark G.

I am struggling to identify a brown mushroom that looks like a clouded agaric, only browner. The stems are short and solid, and the spors are cream colord like the gills. There is no ring or Cortina. I am guessing it is a Clitocybe , but I can't find anything about this one. It looks kind of like a blewett , but the smaller ones look more like young button mushrooms, but more pointed on the cap. More of a rounded point. The mycelium is growing around the base of the mushrooms, that grow in small clusters, with little tiny bullets growing out of the stems at the base. They are short like blewetts.
I am wondering if you have any clues. They don't seem to be growing in a ring. And there is a lot of leaf litter , shade and roots in the woods where they are growing. I tend to find them in November in Georgia.
I don't see them often, but I am always keeping an eye out for them. I just have a feeling that they are edible. I don't go by a feeling. I just want to know what this is.

In California Blewit's also have a lookalike that has no root, still waiting a purple color, but does not display the hardiness of stem. Be careful, it is nasty tasting and slightly Poison. I know, from personal experience. I am a permanent subscriber, your advise and help if invaluable. Thant you.

I found some Blewits today. It is light purple to brown on the top and lilac purple on gills and stem when they are young. But when it is old, gill and stem become brown. It does grow on the ground with white fungi soil with ball end on the stem. it does not have net with it. I am pretty sure it is Blewit. However, when I cooked it, I feel it tastes a little bit bitter. So I am wondering whether I have the blewit. Can you comment? I only tasted 2 small ones.
