- I went to the Kyoto Railway Museum. Popular trains that were once active in Japan are on display. Train enthusiasts will be thrilled. There are also interactive sections where you can experience things like skeleton ticket gates, making it a fun place even for those who aren't particularly fond of trains. Be sure to check out the video.
Prices are at time of shooting.

Which train is your favorite?
The Doctor Yellow, haha. Didn't know that there's a whole Shinkansen just to make sure the tracks are safe, really cool
The train that has buttons in the chair I forgot its name🤦🏻♀️ but I liked it😅
Ohh I remembered his name Shimakaze 🤎
what about you?
The diorama was my favorite part ,
but if I could choose a favorite Shinkansen ,
it would be
Hello Kitty 🐱 ❤❤❤

The old steam locomotives are awesome
The railway system in Japan is absolutely fascinating. In Texas we have almost no form of public transportation at all. These vast connected systems of highly sophisticated and impressive trains are astonishing. I hope to be able to ride some through various Japan prefectures in my future. Thank you for sharing!
We too but I hope that it will be there in the future because the streets are full of cars and jams even taxi prices are expensive because of the increase
Japan has the best trains in the world and best railway system
I'm glad you find the Japanese railway system fascinating! It's a stark contrast to Texas, indeed. I hope you get to experience it firsthand someday. Which prefecture are you most interested in visiting? Thanks for watching!
@experience_japan My wife and I both have deep desires to visit, and plan on doing so when our children are a little bit older and we spend more time to study the language further.
The prefectures I desire to visit the most would by Kyoto, Osaka, Niigata, and of course Tokyo. Kyoto seems absolutely beautiful.
Texas? That's primitive 😂🤣😂🤣🙄
I'm very interested in the history of transport, so I'll definitely be checking this museum out one day! Something that I tend to notice (and I'd imagine quite a few people will too) when visiting museums with large vehicles is that I think I tend to underestimate just how large things are, so seeing the machines in person always feels extra impressive :) As a fun fact about the 0 series Shinkansen, outside Japan there's only one place in the world which has one, the National Rail Museum up in York, a good 4 or 5 hour's drive from where I am down near London. It was gifted to the museum by JR West in the late-1990's, and the NRM staff have done a great job restoring it to being as good as new - I'd definitely like to go there one day, too!
I'm excited about the video
6:23
Correction. That is called the 500 series shinkansen. It’s NOT called the N500 series (although it would be a pretty cool name if it had a full refurbishment or an advance version of it).
Thank you @experience_japan Thank you for this video and thank you for always making my day I am grateful to you, keep giving I wish you luck
Do you remember the Romance Train. We called that train the Love train & once a bunch of us female soldiers (in off duty clothes as we didn't want to be spit on). We went to Mt, Fuji. Was a beautiful ride & the apple trees were all in bloom. Especially in Tokyo when the beautiful parks with the Cherry Trees in bloom. My favorite time of the year while in Japan.
On l’a pris pour rejoindre Hakone depuis Tokyo. On a raté le premier rang de la locomotive, mais déjà du 3e rang on avait presque l’impression de conduire le train.
I love the train which has big beds and windows because sleeping is beautiful and seeing the landscape is also beautiful if they meet it will be great 😅🤍the pizza looks delicious 🍕🤤
I totally agree! Combining comfort with beautiful views makes for an unforgettable journey. I'm glad you think the pizza looks tasty too!
Ahhh.... they changed the Eva Shinkanzen back to a normal one, I liked the Asuka red one 🥲
Yeah, the Asuka red Shinkansen was pretty iconic. It’s sad to see it go back to normal, but I’m glad you enjoyed it while it was around!
Please visit the next place where there is no automatic ticket counter
I love trains but have never rode one ever. I could tell that this was bringing back memories for you, remembering the good old day's. I would have been on every train there. Why didn't the shop sell train sets of different train types? I bought Hello Kitty for sure and more. When I was young it was the train Whistle and those wheels on the tracks, those sounds made me happy. Thank you for bringing back good memories. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories with trains! It's heartwarming to hear how much joy they brought you.
I liked this video a lot. Great idea to go to the railway museum. I bet there are a lot pf people who are envious of there model train set up. I'm sure a lot of the trains had to be hand made, like the Sunrise Express.
Really appreciate your kind words! Yes, a lot of craftsmanship went into the models, especially ones like the Sunrise Express.
I have been to Kyoto. Especially the park where the deer bow for deer treats which one can buy from vendors within the park. Of course that was about 48 years agp approximately. Was on a tour from Tokyo via bullet train to Kyoto, Spent a week there touring all the special places. Nara Park was where the deer bowed for deer snacks. Such a long time. Very different now.
Looking forward to this Journey!
Loving the different railway emblems I wonder how much weight was above your head when you were under the train 😊😊
Glad you're enjoying the details!
Beautiful ❤
Me: Oh he buys a pair of chopsticks, he fell for the souvenir shop trick
EJ: *[reveals what the chopsticks are]*
Me: I WANT TEN OF THEM
Isn't that orange Osaka railcar the type you'd see in animes? Very cool.
Yes, you're absolutely right! The orange Osaka railcar does look like something straight out of an anime. It's one of the things that makes it so special and cool. Glad you noticed and liked it!
5:45
nah, those are average windows in trains
10:20
bro forgot to press the dead-man's pedal(you must press it in all times to operate the train, or else it will emergency break)
and also, the one on the right is acceleration (marked by steps)
and the one on left are breaks, those breaks are useful for preparing the train, as you must have some air pressure inside first in order to operate the train
Great video. I enjoy trains from all over the world. We have a lot of train museums here. A lot of big freight steam engines. Some were also used for passenger service but now all we have is Amtrak. Nothing like what the rest of the world has. But I enjoy steam engines. They are great pieces of hand built machinery. I have models of a lot of them that o run every so often. Thanks for the trip though the museum.
I'm thrilled you enjoyed the video and share a passion for trains, especially steam engines! It sounds like you have an impressive collection of model trains. I'd love to hear more about your models and how you got into this hobby. Thanks for joining the journey through the museum!
I have a modest collection. Here in America it’s pretty common to have a train under the Christmas tree. We always had one from the time I can remember. I still have my dad’s train from the 1950’s. I’ve always love the mechanical engineering of steam engines and the power they produce with just basically boiling water. As for my hobby I’ve worked parting at a hobby shop here where I race 1/24 scale slot cars and I did train repairs for customers. I haven’t done repairs in a while. It’s kinda tough with working a regular job and a family. But I still have my trains. I also started getting back to building models. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and I have a bunch of Bandai models to build. Sorry for the long reply. I enjoys hobbies. Would love to go over to Japan and go through as many hobby shops as I could. Lol. I’ve seen a lot of videos of them and they look awesome.
The Victorious Imagination
Ressha Sentai Toqger!
In my country people like to break through the railroad crossing
What kind of Apple Watch U have? So 🆒
AppleWatch 8 with Hermes band 😄😄😄
It's reassuring to see that wherever you are in the world you always exit via the gift shop!
Haha, you’ve got me! The gift shop exit is a universal experience, isn’t it? Thanks for sticking around!
Very intresting to visit. How long it takes to visit the all museum? 🍒🍒🍒
Thanks for your interest! It usually takes about 2-3 hours to fully enjoy the museum. 🍒
@@experience_japan Thank you 🙏
The only youtuber who doesn't even ask for a subscribe or like nice about u
Thanks for this video! I hope I can visit there on my next Japan trip
大宮の鉄道博物館と西葛西の地下鉄博物館もオススメです。
As a German Train Driver I would love to visit the Museum. It's interesting to see how different the Trains are compared to Germany :D
Interesting!
Visited the museum in Jan 2023 and recreated a photo of the lead vocalist of my favourite band who drapped herself over the front of the KUHA489-1 (at 6:54) ..Unfortuantely I didn't have anyone to take a photo of me doing is..*sigh*.....But she is a big train nerd and I also love trains..So it had to be done while I visited Kyoto during my trip to Japan...I was in Japan to see the band LIVE in Tokyo...And I returned in Nov 2023 to see them again!...This time in Yokohama!
Sounds like you had an amazing journey! Recreating that photo must have been a special moment.
I am used to leave positive comments but now I am going through difficult circumstances so they wished me to overcome these circumstances and I also wish everyone happiness and permanent joy and good be fine all of you
Are you ok
@@explorewithcate3040 I'm still going through the same things but I'm a little better now thank you🙏🏻💕🥹
@@explorewithcate3040 I'm still going through the same things but I'm a little better now thank you so much 🥺✨💗
I love the trains in Japan! They remind me of Team Bullet Train from Transformers!
I’m glad you like them! Japan’s trains do have a unique charm, much like Team Bullet Train.
In England 🇬🇧 where I am from a city not too far away from me, called York in Yorkshire, we have a railway museum, and it's fantastic its free to get in but they do ask if you can donate you can. It's a great day out at the museum, and the city is a great experience as well lots of history ☺️🇬🇧
That sounds amazing! I'd love to visit the railway museum in York someday. Thanks for sharing your experience. It's always exciting to learn about historical places. 🇬🇧
You have a sense of humor. The white bird hanging from the ceiling. LOL.
Glad you caught that!
Thank you for the new video!
What a fantastic Museum, Thanks for the tour.
Love your vids of Japan keep them coming bro
I love trains i enjoyed the video, thank you for sharing.
I'm not a fan of trains in general, yet as a tourist I really appreciate the network Japan has setup over the years. My trip is in November so I hopefully miss the very busy tourist times, however my time in Kyoto is over a weekend, so I think it's still going to be very busy 😆
It's great to hear you appreciate Japan's transport network! November is a beautiful time to visit, and while Kyoto might be busy over the weekend, it's definitely worth the hustle. Enjoy your trip! 😆
So cool and them museum is so big!!! hadn't expected that, the locomotives lined up like Thomas Tank Engine is cool
I'm thrilled you found the museum and its extensive collection so impressive! It's always a pleasant surprise to see how much there is to explore, especially when locomotives remind us of childhood favorites like Thomas.
thank you for a great video! greetings from Croatia!
Thank you for the new video I'm excited to see it!
Hope you like it!
hey tu
Those chopsticks are great, such a unique souvenir.
Glad you liked them! They indeed make for a unique gift. 🥢✨
I have a few Shinkansen chopsticks including the E5 Hayabusa, plus a few Thomas and Friends ones!
I love them all, especially the model trains!
I'm so happy to hear that! Model trains have a special charm, don't they? Let's share our train stories!

LOVE Kyoto. Visited there to see many of the temples with their Zen gardens. Exquisite ❤️❤️
I'm so glad you love Kyoto and enjoyed its temples and Zen gardens! They indeed offer a tranquil and exquisite experience.
You should also explore some museums also in japan like you explore trains and hotels , exploring museums is informative also so please make some more videos on other museums 😊
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely consider adding more museum explorations to my list. Stay tuned for more informative adventures! 😊
Went to this museum in 2019. Rail yard set up out back was great. Was a great way to spend a day!

Every time I went on a business trip to Osaka, this museum caught my attention.
I want to go this year.
It's great to hear that the museum made an impression on you during your visits to Osaka! It definitely has a unique charm. Thanks for sharing your experience! 😊
Very good Video
Thanks for the visit
Your videos are so relaxing to watch! Thank you for making my day!
So glad to hear that! Thanks for watching and making my day with your kind words. 🌟
Are you a "Foamer"? Foamer is an old American term for someone so excited about trains that they "foam at the mouth" over anything trian-related, and they have a tremendous amount of train knowledge! I certainly learn a lot from your train journeys. And the trains are so pristine, it makes me happy and satisfied. 😊
As always, thank you for the beautiful video opportunity to see something unique to your beautiful country.
I'm thrilled to hear you enjoy the train journeys so much! While I may not be a "Foamer" in the traditional sense, my passion for trains and sharing their beauty is just as strong. Your kind words mean a lot to me. Thanks for your support and for appreciating the pristine condition of the trains and the unique aspects of my country!
@@experience_japan you're most welcome.
Avec mon fils, on l’a visité en 2016, année de son ouverture. Superbe musée qui a encore évolué. ❤🚄🚆🚂
Love from India
This is so cool! Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome!
I have a question, and I'm not sure if you saw this information at the Museum.
It's a well-known fact that Western Europe and Russia have different width of their railways. It was built intentionally by one of Russian Emperors, and in time slowed down Hitler's approach into the USSR during WWII. Is there a difference between railway width between Japan and Europe or Russia? Do you have your own standard or do you build railways similar to some other countries? Sorry, it's a weird question, but I got curious.
That’s an insightful question! Yes, Japan uses a different railway gauge compared to most of Western Europe and Russia. Japan primarily uses the 1,067 mm gauge, which is different from the standard gauge (1,435 mm) in Europe and the broad gauge (1,520 mm) in Russia. It’s fascinating how railway standards can impact history and logistics!
@@experience_japan i wonder why your railways are narrower?! Due to lack of space? I know that Japanese Shinkansen have different “noses” compared to the other countries that have them, like China, for example, due to being used in heavily populated areas & lessen impact on the surroundings when it’s flying by.
Btw, when I travelled to Central Europe by train, we had to wait 6 hrs in Poland for train to be recalibrated to travel in Europe. Luckily, we could visit the city while we waited
British engineers led the construction of railways in Japan during the Meiji era. The British engineer thought that a narrow-gauge railway was advantageous because it was inexpensive and would enable "rapid construction of railways in Japan, where there are many mountainous areas". As a result, the construction of Japanese railways is said to have proceeded on a 1067 mm gauge.
@@experience_japan oh wow! That’s so cool! Thanks for the history info!!
Hayabusa Chopsticks So pretty❤Love to visit that kyoto railway museum❤Thanks for the video❤
If you think domino's is delicious , you need to go to Sicily and try the real pizza there. Idk if dominos recipe is the same in japan as it is in the US, but here their pizza is garbage.
Great vidieo 👍
Is he the site supervisor cracked me up 😂
What do you think? 😂😂😂
Thank you for another amazing video! Seeing all the trains as models and for real is amazing! We have nothing like that here! Please stay safe and wonderful in your travels! See you again soon!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the trains. It's fascinating to compare models with the real thing, isn't it? What kinds of models or trains are common where you're from? Stay safe and see you soon!
@@experience_japan we just have simple train sets that are sold in toy stores, and it's hard to find anything like what you got to see in the museum! Where I live, trains don't even run anymore and the tracks are just sitting there unused. Sad really! Can't wait to ride trains when I get to school in Tokyo in January!
You should definitely visit the national railway museum in York in the UK they even have 0 series Shinkansen driving car
Please try Indian food in Japan please 🥺 I want to know that how Indian foods are made their
And I love Japan's culture their innovation their weather and I watched all of your videos and they are awesome 😊❤
5:22 4 cars from the the first Shinkansen. I want to see it in person myself.
Those chopsticks are very cool!
They are!
What a nice and cool video... As always you share.
Expected to see the scale trains that appeared in minute 8:34
Man this mks me want 2 mve 2 Japan!!! Yall hve so much fun dtuff 2 do❤❤❤❤
You are lucky to live in this productive country plus you don't need to have a car with all those gorgeous and reliable public trains unlike here in Texas...Gosh! every household should have a car...it's like a basic necessity here...for every household member with job at least they must have their own car so they can go to work or school....imagine now the traffic here in Texas is getting crazy busy :(
That sounds tough! Public transport definitely makes things easier here.
🚄🚅🚆memories that will last a lifetime in nihon. Being able to see these iconic trains well preserved is a masterpiece. As train enthusiast myself when i ride Metra in Chicago where i live, i hope to someday visit this Kyoto train museum whenever i come to Japan in the near future. Stay safe everyone and blessings to all the people of nihon🙏📿✝️🇯🇵
I love your new chopsticks!! 😄
Yay! Thank you!

Did you ride the steam train there?
Their certainly more interesting than the trains in the u.k. Nicely informative, thanks👍
