    The human voice is a beautiful and versatile thing. They can do so much more than sing the lead vocal part. In this video we explore three different ways to make turn your vocals into instruments.

    Absolutely! The process in other DAWs is the same, just different. ;-) In Ableton do right-click the mouse.
    I like to MIDIfy my ugly and rusty voice into saxofon, because of the breath. You have to breath in once in a while, other than noodling a guitar permanently. So MIDIfying a voice to Sax is a natural choice. But you can mimic any other (virtual) instrument too.

    Love doing that last one with strings as a background effect.. playing with it can really bring out the vocal melody and save a heap of time rewriting.. good stuff Mr G! 🙏🕊️

    It wasn’t my voice, but one of my favorite drum set samples I use I recorded from different noises I captured from my sliding patio door years ago. Closing the door was the kick, the curtain rod sliding rings became the high hat, the lock latch became the snare. Love this Joe! It’s such a freeing way to make music.

      This is a wonderful idea! Makes me look all around me now for sounds that I can MIDI-ize!

      @BSRKB 2 дня назад +1

      @@iamdebmiller not just MIDI, I was attempting to make music without anything but organically recording sounds into a mic without any traditional instruments. But MIDI is also definitely an option!

      @@iamdebmiller Thanks, but to bring it back to the takeaway from Joe’s video, the voice is a great tool, but as you caught on to, any household object can fill in, if you let the creative juices flow

      @@BSRKB I agree. Lately I've been noticing all kinds of sounds around the house. Anything is possible!

    I had no idea about that Melodyne trick. Thank you! How did I miss this?!! Love this channel and being a VIPer. Seriously, how did I not ever know Melodyne did that?! Too many tools, too little time! Thanks again Joe!

    The Melodyne trick is great. Did a horn section on a production not long ago. Turned out great.

    thanks for this awesome reminder of the versatility and ultimate relatability of the human voice- the original instrument i bet even before someone gave themselves a belly slap. just how far can this be taken? check out rundgren's a cappella album from 1985. yes he used every imaginable bit of 1985 technology and maybe some new tricks he personally dreamed up, but all the audio is straight outa the horse's mouth. some of it's a little doo-wop sure but maybe try the opening track "blue orpheus" to hear what you think... you might wanna just keep listening

    Sounds fabulous! Shows that talent and skill are far more important than gear. I’ve been using voice as a placeholder, so that I can get my ideas recorded, without getting bogged down initially with picking the right virtual instruments and presets out of myriad options, or spending hours tweaking custom sound designs. Now, with hearing how amazing your example sounds, I am inspired to do more with my voice, perhaps exploring some of the voice mangling plug-ins I own. Makes me question why I spent tens of thousands of dollars on virtual instruments I don’t need. Oh well, each of us has a journey.

    Awesome video, Joe! Question about vocal widening. I've seen so many producers make duplicates of their vocals, lower the tune/pitch, then pan them for a widening effect. However, I've never seen you do anything like that, unless I missed a video. Is that a legit process/trick or is there a plugin that performs this better?
