I just wanted to say, huge shout out to tppo. If you can't tell, I was highly inspired by his videos, and he was the reason I wanted to make long-form videos again. As this is my first real go at long-form videos, please let me know what you think! Feedback is much appreciated 👍
I know tppo! I'm subscribed to them, and I think they're videos are very informative. For me, my method to retaining artist studies is I trace the piece beforehand, and use the traced version as my reference. And immediately after, I open a reference window & apply what I learned by sketching it out, if that makes sense. :3 I started studying that way when I began watching mikeymegamega's how to draw anime videos. And it greatly helps! 💜 I don't know why I didn't do that before.
that's who I thought you were at first! I went to your channel wanting to watch his previous vids and was like "where'd they all go!?" I really enjoyed this!
omg i just realized how underrated you are, you kept my attention throughout the video and i really liked your studying process. this has given me little tips and tricks to add into my art, you broke down the little details too, making everything clearer. i would love to see more! i honestly don’t know how you only have 700 subscribers
agreed. i usually have the attention span of a child on speed but i was totally engaged with this content. well done. and you did a good job explaining sams techniques.
I would love to see you breaking down more artists' styles. It's incredibly helpful to analyse artists styles for people who might also want to replicate!
Could you please do a breakdown of an artist called Lily? She used to draw stylised naruto fanarts. It may be difficult to find her art now, but I'm sure there is at least fb group with backup of most of her drawings. Honestly I've been a fan of her style since 2007 when I first discoveres it and haven't found any artist with similar style till this day. Would be fantastic to see your analysis on her style ❤
@@tazakart Could you check out the art style of this video game called Hades? Such a popular game with amazing character designs and use of color, but I've never seen any videos breaking the style down down honestly :]
This was actually so helpful- I’ve been doing colorless sketches forever because I never could wrap my mind around shading. But I think I’ll start trying again!
Really great analysis of Sam's art, and amazing editing. I see the hard work you put into this video and the inspiration from other creators. It's exciting to see this start and I can't wait to see you grow!
Hey I genuinely want to thank you, I have adhd and my attention span is indeed like a goldfish but for some reason your choice of music, speed of explantation and tone of voice really kept my brain to focus. You gained a subscriber :)
I'm really impressed with the quality of the video! Definitely earned a subscribe! I've been quite inspired by Sam's artstyle myself and I think that's very prominent looking at my more recent drawings, it's cool seeing you break down the process rather than just looking at the end result itself :)
This is such a great video for artists that are just starting with digital art but I must say this is so surprising how are you so underrated!? I mean the your humour throughout the video was very entertaining and the breakdown of everything was extremely eazy to get.
You're so right about viewers having the attention span of a goldfish. Thank you for frequently reviewing parts of the video and simplifying sam's process into steps. If there's one thing I will remember in six months, it's "Warm, Cool, Warmer."
I was literally looking for thisss! The quality of this video is so good, i was so suprised to scroll down and saw your subscriber count, soo underated!
Thank you a lot! Sam is like one of top artists I admire if not #1 at the moment and this study actually helped me to under his style and process better! Though I think at the earlier stage your art looked a bit more like his art, because of the simplicity, later on you kinda made it way too complex for Sam but it still is an amazing work and Sam is definitely such an Amazing artist to look up to, I can’t believe I live in the same city with him rn. If I ever get a chance to meet him I ll probably dieeee
Wow this was really impressive! You should make this a series where you break down other artists styles to see how they work! You should do DDMark next!
Great work mate and much appreciated. I will definitely use this as a guideline when starting to focus on portraits in the future,as I really like Sam and Ross's style, and I can tell that You like them too. Thank you for this.
thank you so much for this!! Sam's art is one of my biggest inspirations but I can never tell what he's doing or how he's doing it just from watching him draw. He gives good art tips but it's spread out among 118 videos.
bro i sat here, fully interested in the video, not getting bored at any point, then i scrolled down to subscribe and you have 700 subs??? underrated as hell, never give up, youre going places
Feels like this is the effective way to discovering new ways to draw, because honestly, I didn't have signature theme or style when drawing. I just draw for fun!! And sharing ofc cuz I like to give drawing as gifts. And thank you for making this, definitely helpful. Subs!!
that's crazy that u summarized all this in 10mins. I've seen prolly 50 of his vids and learnt (in my own way) what this video provides, but damn if I had seen this 3 years ago it would have been mind blowing tbh (and i prolly would have noticed things quicker) Keep up the great content man you're really special dude.
This breakdown is useful, the only things I remember from his videos are use reference, flip canvas, and skull of enemy I have so much trouble picking colours that I don't even go past the sketch phase most of the time
Your channel is so underrated! I love how you go into detail when explaining Sam's art process, and make it funny at the same time! You definetly got my attention and I'll be looking forward to new videos :))
thank you so much for this video. i love sam's art and i really enjoyed the way you studied it and put all your conclusions together. absolutely great work 🙏
I love the way you painted this piece! And it's amazingly helpful to be able to watch how you do it, and hear your thought process. Thank you so much! Also, little tip for micron-type pens: they give a very consistent line when you hold them upright (almost vertically). Not very comfortable, but that's how they work. Although I do agree that the Uni Pin pens are even less fun to work with in that regard. I also found them to feel unpleasant going over the paper as compared to my old micron pens. Once mine run out, I'll definitely buy a different brand.
Nice work! Also i’m pretty sure Procreate has a halftone brush. Also it takes about 1 minute to make a custom one since all you need to do is select a round shape, and for the grain there is already a halftone texture included in the library. I actually made a few rake brushes in Procreate also, after watching Sam using them.
I love your style dude :'D I don't even need or want to learn I am just getting highly entertained by you at this point :D having a blast with your editing and voicing :D
Cool video dud. About halftones in Procreate, you can apply them using a brush tool. If you dont want black halftone, just change the color with a layer alpha lock later
never thought of studying an OC that i like and convert the art style to a random reference photo study based on the OC character. brilliant, i feel in such a duhhh moment. i now see a clearer path to rise up to, at least for now... thank you so much for existing you deserve my support.
Stuck on a drawing for a few days, trying to replicate his style for a birthday art surprise, and finally said ugh. Gonna look for another channel that maybe break down the animated style better. Nice video! I´m starting to study other artists workflow and this was really helpful. PD: When you use the halftone filter in procreate there´s a little arrow next to the halftone percentage, if you press that arrow you can find the halftone pencil. Hope it helps :)

I can’t go through all the comments to see if someone else already said this, but when you select the halftone filter there’s a little arrow at the top of the canvas when you select the halftone filter, then you can select “brush” from the arrow that appears instead of the default of applying it to the whole layer. This lets you control where it goes cause you can just apply it with the brush and adjust the settings as normal
amazing video, gonna have to rewatch again when I'm less tired, but I definitely learned a few things, so thank you for that! :) the comment section is right, you really are underrated xD you got yourself another subscriber with this one :D

there is actually a way I’ve discovered in procreate to make using halftones a little easier! When you go into the halftone filter, i know it seems that it’s all or nothing but that’s because it’s on the layer setting. Clicking where it says “halftone” with the % next to it allows you to switch it to pencil mode, which will only apply the halftones where you select on that layer. This was so cool to watch! It definitely seems like a good idea if youre trying to improve your art!! Also, im not sure if anyone has pointed it out yet, but there is a way to have a halftone brush! When you go to the layer filters and go to halftone, if you click the top grey bar where it says “halftone __%”, you should have the option to use the layer filter as a brush! Its a bit difficult to explain , but i hope this made sense! :)
You can just make a halftone brush. Just set the halftone texture as the grain of the brush.
your channel is amazying dude! keep going, you helped ME SO MUCH WITH JUST ONE VIDEO?? INSANE
there is actually a way I’ve discovered in procreate to make using halftones a little easier! When you go into the halftone filter, i know it seems that it’s all or nothing but that’s because it’s on the layer setting. Clicking where it says “halftone” with the % next to it allows you to switch it to pencil mode, which will only apply the halftones where you select on that layer.
