The more questions you ask the more details they will have in the more better understanding they can give you when they build your custom Driveline for your specific vehicle

As far as your driveshaft you should replace your original driveshaft with a custom aluminum driveshaft the name of the company is Inland Empire driveshaft I believe they're in the city of Ontario in Southern California. You just need to do the measurements and they will custom fit you your own aluminum Driveshaft for around $400 cash

So, for your roof rack situation Home Depot sells 96 inch aluminum angle iron for about $41 each you figure 2 will get you enough to make your own roof rack so for $82 all you have to do is Bolt in the angle iron to your existing setup and that should give you a six upgraded roof rack that's lightweight and good on gas you can purchase enough to go across for example to going lengthwise and maybe for going across and that will give you enough to do a healthy roof rack so yes Home Depot has aluminum angle remember you want to get the thick aluminum not the thin one $41 each piece and their 96 in Long

You can also ask to upgrade your U-joint so you can get a heavy-duty U-joint to handle more torque on your vehicle

You can look them up online and you will see that they carry upgraded leaf springs for the Chevy Astro and GMC Safari van your choices are original OEM HD leaf springs, xhd leaf springs depending on what you're trying to do and how much weight you trying to put on the van I currently have the HD set on my year two thousand GMC Safari and they are awesome, but I recently purchased the xhd leaf springs to put on my van this year

4035 East Guasti Rd. #301, Ontario California 91761 I went here from my aluminum custom-fit driveshaft they charged me $400 cash and they did an amazing job and they save you on the overall weight of your van so your ban will do better on gas

For the driveline the other comment mention... really no need to spend the $ on an aluminum driveline...
If more than half the haft is engaged with the transfer case you should be ok.
Go to a reputable shop and have them replace the front and rear u joints with Spicer joint.
Should be under 100$ per driveline!

Good to know! thanks! I was going to do a slip yoke eliminator kit just for peace of mind in case it does come out. they are not too pricey but pricey enough and labor would suck on it. so I'm still tossing that idea around since they make one for this. I'm sure it would require a new custom driveshaft at that point.

I apologize I just looked it up the name of the place is called Inland Empire Drive Line Service. They are the best in the business for driveshaft they will custom fit anyting you measure out to your Astro van call them for instructions to measure from where to where and they will give you the proper way to measure you tell them the measurements and order it and they will ship it to you anywhere on the planet just an idea let them know that you have the four-by-four Driveline and they can custom fit both sides the front side of the Driveline and the rear side this way you have matching aluminum drivelines
