I really wanna do USCG but I can't swim for my life.
Hey you're in JROTC too? That's pretty cool. It's pretty rare to find one of us online.
Anyways learning to swim is actually really easy. I actually just learned how to over the summer and basically it's all about knowing how to control your lungs and every limb of your body
Haze Goon I grew up in Miami Florida I've been swimming since day one.
+Eiahfou I'm in JROTC first year
Did I just find my JROTC people??
Elizabeth Samson. Graduated from HIGH school graduated from JROTC
I plan on joining the USCG and I wanna try Maritime Enforcement Specialists. I have been preparing this past year for this job and I can't wait for my 18th birthday.
Nick Lionberger im enlisting when im 17
How'd you prepare
Wonder how it went for you guys ^^
i can only hold my breath for about a max of 30 seconds tho how tf can anyone do a min
Practice. Just hold your breath for a little longer each time you swim and you'll get used to it.
Joey Davalos breathe deep in and out for like 15 seconds, it expands your lungs to hold air for approximately 2-3 mins
I’m prior Coast Guard
I can hold for 2.5 minuets
I can hold my breath for 4 minutes
You are actually allowed to breathe during the one minute drown proofing.
I dont know why I am here
I just like swimming I could pass the test just can't hold my breath
What will happen if the cannot completely it
I really want to join but i can only hold my breath for 40secs and i can only tread water for 3 mins😢😭
I’m willing to join I can exceed the pft standards but I don’t know if my weight height matters I’m 5’9 215lbs
The training is very hard
The coast guard does the same training as Marines and Navy
i have a question for anyone who has coast guard experience. I want to join but I have disclocated my right shoulder over 5 times and had to get surgery 2 years ago. I am a good swimmer and can hold my breath for a long time but I'm afraid my shoulder will be a problem. Anyone have any advice?
Consult a doctor
first step is to contact a recruiter, he/she will tell you if your medical history will disqualify you or not(I would guess that you are OK, but just a guess)
when you fail at tasks like these do they send you home or do you have a second shot to prove yourself?
Kay Ess in training they send you to a different classs a week behind
That Fall Out Boy in the background.

Also very interesting training.
Izzy Lebasi what's the name of the song
What happens if you fail
Off Duty Til You Pass Your Recertification
Stay Entertained
They will pull your quals....So if you are qualified in 5 things and only two require the egress, you will only be qualified to do 3 things at your unit. You will most likely be put on a physical fitness program until you pass.
😢😢😢😢
Anyone know the age cut off I'm 31
Sorry man but I think you're screwed. From what I know you gotta be between 17 and 27
That's what it was when I was in back in the '90's. 17-27
In some cases you can get a waiver to join. If you're serious about it talk to a recruiter.
41 is the age cut off, you still have time
chris foulk uhm I'm sorry it's 27 and if your going to a school it's 31 so hurry
This training always sucked.
Yep
