Today Xmas Day in Australia I am in Sydney and here and the east coast the weather has been magnificent beaches crowded with swimmers but I spent mine at home having a lunch of ham, Prawns and smoked salmon with salad 🥰🥰
Nothing quite like coming face to face with a big red in the bush and when he stands up you realise he's 6 inches taller, I'm 6'4" and that's the first time I ever thought "wtf am I doing here" 😂
I'm from Queensland and grew up with bindii (pronounced bindy-eye, but often shortened to bindies) which are quite uncomfortable to walk on with bare feet, but kind of soft, not thorny. We also called them prickles and they do indeed prickle your feet. The harder thorn we have here, similar to the picture at 10:14, is actually goathead burr which is harder and much more painful. As a kid, and even as an adult, I know there were/are bindies in our lawn in a few places, but sometimes the hassle of putting shoes on just to walk to the clothesline or mailbox or whatever is worse than standing on the prickles (well you think that at the time, until you get prickles in your feet and then you have to spend all that time pulling them out). As a kid I have stepped on a goathead burr and they are far worse than prickles, but luckily for me, where I lived/live, not as common. Therefore, that video was funny because most Aussies will walk through prickles or bindies, which are NOT the harder thorny ones, barefoot if they have to, even though uncomfortable. BTW, as soon as I saw the koala I knew it was fake. They do not get that big, although there used to be a larger koala that existed during the Pleistocene epoch (along with the koalas that still exist today), but the larger koalas are extinct.
we call them double Gs in WA or did, bindies are annoying but those caltrops bloody hurt. i ran into a big patch once and was in the middle by the time i stopped with half a dozen in my feet and then had to get out again.

That Koala has to be AI, it would be too heavy for her to support. They can weigh up to 12 kilos for a normal sized one. Also, her hands are around its back and that’s very dangerous for a Koala because they have no frontal rib cage, so she would be pressing on his internal organs. The lack of a rib cage is so they don’t fall out of the trees.
Absolutely correct! The 'Only in', 'click-bait' garbage sites will soon be full of it!!! It RUclips had a 'kick in the arse' button, they would deserve it!
Those hideous things stuck into the sole of someone’s foot in that pic arent “bindies”, they’re “three-corner jacks” or “double-gees”. All of which are generally called “PRICKLES”. Yes, bindies stick into your foot, but they dont make you bleed. The prickly bits arent very big or woody. However, three-corner jacks and/or double-gees, are the comparably big, hard, woody seeds of ground covering weeds that have super sharp spikes that go straight into you if you’re unfortunate enough to step on them . Stepping on these without shoes on are literally like stepping on thumb tacks scattered all over the ground. To top it off, we have varieties of these things scattered all over Australia. Those of us that have experienced the full brunt of these nasty plants don’t only live with the bad memories of such events, but trauma.

Giant koala was definitely AI. Easy to create these days. I could make something similar. They do not ever grow to that size and they are heavy little things. At that size she would struggle to hold it. He stood on a bindi - short for bindii - pronounced bindi-eye, which is a little thorn ball. Hurts like hell.
bindi is a weed that grows in grass, that makes extremely sharp and painful spiky seed pods that you really do not want to step on barefoot. I have no ideas why, knowing that bindis exist, Aussies insist on walking everywhere barefoot. Part of the reason they're such a problem in Australia is because they can survive the Australian summer heat when grass can't. When the rest of the grass is dead, eventually the only thing still alive on the lawn is bindis.
he stood on a bindii which are sometimes three cornered jacks and they are a seed with three thorns and they really do hurt if you stand on one. there are probably at least three plants (maybe more) that people call bindii depending where you live in Australia

Merry Christmas Ryan! I spent the day army brother's on Brisbane's bayside- he'd smoked a brisket for 20+ hours, so we sat all day around the pool, brisketing and whiskey tasting- good day!
He said "I just stood on my first bindi of the season", a bindi is a small plant that grows in your lawn and stabs you if you step on them, remember no shoes Aussies?
It’s a generic term as well as a specific plant. Those in your picture are what I call bullock’s-heads: spikes at ears, nose, neck. OUCH!
a male koala defending a mate is a sight to behold. they have a blood curdling scream.
Lol, I spent 3 years removing the bindiis from my garden, pulling every single one I found up after it rained. Hard work but totally worth it.
I did the same and the next year there was less. Now I walk around barefoot knowing it's all good. Peace of mind - priceless 😂
@@infin8ee persist! It's worth it for the luxury of being able to walk barefoot in the garden, & in my case, hang out the washing. It's the simple things, lol.
@KathyRan I agree. I think this year I've pulled out 2 and I probably carried the seeds in on the bottom of my thongs from somewhere else. Under my line is clear so hanging the clothes out is fine. I have dogs so I only have to check for Barker's eggs 😂
Have a great boxing day.
I did that last year, this year, they're back
@colleenwoods1169 if you dig those up then next year there will be fewer. It's better than spraying especially if you have animals or kids. It's a monotonous job but well worth it.
That second koala is a fake! The first one is the real deal. I hope it made it back safely into the bush.
It’s not fake- I saw this one on the news a while back and they had other people holding her. This woman is one of the carers.
@@Dr_KAP Total 'BS'!!
Those "bindis" on the bare foot look more like Cat Heads, or at least that's what we call them in the Riverina.
Merry Christmas Ryan from Aus. Lying on my out back lounge a sweet NNW breeze, 27°c. About to nod off but wanted to wish you and all your family a merry our best Aussie cheers.
Merry Xmas mate!
All the best ❤ From Melbourne

@joeljacobsfitness7493 lol came with the cottage 😁
YEP the huge Koala in the girls arms has to be ai. I can't imagine a Koala growing that big. That's easily twice the size of any Koala I've ever seen.
Merry, Merry, Happy, Happy, To you and the Family.
Yeah that one is fake for sure
Definitely a real koala I’ve seen video of this beauty and also several pics of others holding her. She’s gorgeous.
I’ve never seen or heard of one that big.
And, you’re supposed to support their bottom, as Jenni said.
Absolutely correct!
The 'Only in', 'click-bait' garbage sites will soon be full of it!!! It RUclips had a 'kick in the arse' button, they would deserve it!
@@Dr_KAPnot real koalas don't grow that big. Total crap.
A Bindi is a prickle that you don't want to step on. They grow along the ground.
"I hope it's a warm one down under" - Mate, it's nearly 40°. xD (which, for anyone who hasn't realised they're the only people in the world using fahrenheit, is 104°)
Merry Christmas Ryan. We had ours today . Hot day in Victoria and had an enjoyable time with my son, daughter in law and some of my grown grandchildren. Peace be with you and your family. 🎄🎄🎄🌺🌺🌺
Someone once suggested that when MacDonalds' soft serve machine isn't working, there should be a flag they lower to half-mast.
A very good suggestion that is!! That way, you don’t wait 10 minutes in the drive-thru, with whining kids in the car… only to find out that they can’t have an ice cream!?! Almost a fate worse than death!?! 😂 🤣 😂 ♥️♥️🇦🇺
a bindi is like these little spikes that grow in the grass usally around hot weather times or around more dryer grass
Bindi (or 3 corner Jacks) is a prickly type of weed.
Omg, the way that roo turned back to the camera. That looked like a threat, lol.
Looked just like Chopper
Christmas Day in Gannawarra on the Murray River 35C (95F) sunny, very low humidity and barely a breeze…
Boxing Day forecast to be 41C (106F) and much the same will be like stepping out into an oven when you open the door.
I feel for those camping and caravanning on the east coast Tomorrow 😂
Ten minutes from the Murray River that's where I call home.😁
practically neighbours on a very long river 😂

There is an Australian channel Ajay Powell, its a little Australian channel. They put the Sydney St Mary's Cathedral projection on their building and telling of Charles Dickens Christmas Carol and it comes with a special message at the end. Could you do a reaction to it, but also the projections and light show Sydney is into? When HIstory and Culture come together, and meet at One of the most beautiful churches in Australia, its just special.
Merry Christmas, Ryan! It's 36c rn in Adelaide 🌞🎅🎄✨️😁
Merry Christmas - I wished for my family who were on a mini break in Queensland to have a lovely day, and for me to have a day at work without serious incidents. Both wishes came true.
You have to remember how hot it is in Australia.
The , Bindi eye is also referred to as a 3 cornered jack. Each princkle has 3 sharp thorns & when stepped on, stick into your feet.
Kind regards from Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺
Merry Christmas Ryan to you and your family 😎 from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 😎👍💜
And a Merry Christmas to you just to give you a little info of how weird we are. It snowed in Charlotte Pass Victoria yesterday
Wow. I am in Victoria, that is wei4d.
It didn't snow enough, or those bloody bushfires in The Grampians would have been out by now..
Merry Christmas Ryan and to your beautiful family ❤❤❤❤
Merry Christmas Ryan 🎄from Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺
Perfect weather in Melbourne today.
Merry Christmas 🎉
That baby koala isn't being aggressive. He's being defensive, and even then, still not doing a very good job of it!
Happy Christmas Wazza from a hot Christmas day in Adelaide. Cheers mate!
Waves to Roy from Adelaide hills. Bloody hot.
🤣I laugh my a$$ off every time you guys call him Wazza!
Such a cool Aussie nickname!👍
Merry Christmas from chill Germany to everyone Down Under and to you, Ryan of course too! 🎄🫶
Merry Christmas ,Ryan from Perth, Western Australia..🎉
Giant koala was definitely AI. Easy to create these days. I could make something similar. They do not ever grow to that size and they are heavy little things. At that size she would struggle to hold it. He stood on a bindi - short for bindii - pronounced bindi-eye, which is a little thorn ball. Hurts like hell.
Also heard when I lived in SA, a bindi was called a 3 corner jack.
Merry Christmas from Australia 28C day with a lovely wind and family all together.
bindi is a weed that grows in grass, that makes extremely sharp and painful spiky seed pods that you really do not want to step on barefoot.
Merry Christmas from Australia.
(It's Christmas Day today).
Merry Christmas Ryano!
Merry Christmas Ryan and Family🎄😊
he stood on a bindii which are sometimes three cornered jacks and they are a seed with three thorns and they really do hurt if you stand on one. there are probably at least three plants (maybe more) that people call bindii depending where you live in Australia
From my Sunshine Coast/Glass House Mountain family to your Indiana family: May the blessings of Christmastide bring you happiness and hope. My grandson groms (Alex, Adam, Giichi, Xy, Illy, & Drake) enjoyed decent Christmas Eve waves yesterday at a 25 degree Mooloolaba. Today it was church, Baramundi, mince pies, and presies at Ojisan and Oba's house south in Brisbane. Enjoy your day too.
Where in Mooloolaba was it 25 degrees… or was it the middle of the night?? ♥️♥️🇦🇺
we call Bindis 3 corner jacks here in SA. they esstentially have 3 thorns when they form on the plant
I've heard of bindis, but I've never seen one in Melbourne.
Merry Christmas mate
Perfect day in Melbourne today, 33c, sunny, gorgeous
Merry Christmas to you and yours
Merry Christmas mate , we had a good day as the temperature cooled down for the day
IT WAS A BLOODY COLD CHRISTMAS TODAY AND I WAS SO SHOCKED AND IT EVEN SPRINKLED A LITTLE BIT
Merry Christmas bro !
Merry Christmas to you and your Family..Cheers mate🍻
I had a dog that learned if he stepped on a bindi and put his paw in the air one of his humans would immediately jump to remove the bindi
accompanied with a doe-eyed pained expression of course
He had well trained humans
another thing for koalas is to check there fingers as they have two opposable fingers that go the other way for climbing trees
Hi Ryan, if you think being 39c in Sydney in a house with no air conditioning because it's too expensive to run at Christmas is fun, you're wrong ! It's so hot a fan does little. Take a cold shower and break out in sweat. It's always bush fire season now. You need to google "black Saturday" the fire came through so quick in Victoria many people were trapped and lost their homes many died. Many kangaroos and koalas and other wild life died. Much more severe than Californian wild fires.
We have our bush fire plan but even so it can happen so quickly.
I think I'd much rather be in cold you can always rug up.
P.s that koala is definately AI they don't grow that big their like that little mate on the road.
It was a beautiful day, nice ocean, warm day and blue skies.
We have always called them "double-jeez" here in Perth. They're terribly painful to walk on once they've dried and gone brown.
Merry Christmas from Perth!
We call bindi's 3 cornered jacks in South Australia
