We stayed there 6 or 7 years ago, i say stayed as we went to our room and found somewhere else, losing the money we had paid. There was urine on the bathroom floor, and the bed had been slept in. When reporting this to reception, we got no satisfaction at all. It looks as though money has been spent on it which is great to see, as it is a lovely building. Such a lovely postion in Scarborough, it deserved some TLC, and it looks like it is getting it 😊
Unfortunately, my granddaughter had a very difficult and traumatic event at this Hotel (with excessive dark “bureaucracy”). A beautiful bedroom with a copper bath was discovered on the fourth floor of this Hotel. The bathroom had a terrible smell of human waste and upon complaining the woman told us that the Fosse septic tank was completely blocked. The woman who sold us the room told us that the Hotel had completely emptied the septic tank a year before, which turned out to be false! At the official reception point we discovered that the septic tank had not been emptied since 1987 and this is the reason for the drain to be disgusting in the bathroom.
I’m just back from a few days in Scarborough at Xmas. Was staying at the Premier Inn, very near The Grand, and popped into The Grand several times. Agree there’s been a lot of upgrading work done in the public areas, and clearly from your experience in many of the rooms too. Noticed the Sunday Carvery lunch in the Premier Restaurant which looked very good value. The problem will be that these hotels often attract the wrong sort of guests - chavs, thugs, stag-n-hen parties, general riff-raff - and this makes it very difficult for the hotel staff to maintain the fixtures and fittings, as these types of guests are used to trashing their own homes so will naturally do the same if they’re in a hotel.
Went to the Grand hotel when it was Butlins. Was okay but it was 40yrs ago. I am very impressed with Britannia, they have done good.👍 Hope you had a good Christmas Patricia.
My friend and her cousin stayed for a few weeks ago for a Xmas themed weekend. Turkey and Tinsle. The only entertainment in the evening was bingo. So they stayed in their room. Everything else was average. No trouble with roadies or immigrants. Hope this helps.
Happy new year Wigan (sorry don't know your real name) i stayed at the Grand a few years back, my room wasn't too bad but I just remember the huge waterfall inside because of a leak in the roof, oh and the food was awful
I can never understand why Britannia hotels get a bad reputation. The rooms are always perfectly fine especially for the price. Sure the halls aren't always in tip-top condition but you aren't paying to stay in a corridor. Love your videos! Have a happy new year!
Brilliantly room mate!! Looks like a suite very happy with that and for the price for it😃😃 their is a deal on at Abbey house hotel in barrow and they are doing rooms single op for £69 which isn’t too bad!!
what a great room you had the grand is certainly starting to look 'grand'. credit to britannia hotels for the upgrades on there hotels in time they will all be to this standard .have a peaceful and happy new year W W. hopefully in '24 subscribers will be at least 2k ps thanks for another great review
I’m hollering in the background that I would ABSOLUTELY stay there and probably just about every other seaside castle hotel you have there in Blackpool! I love the history and everything that comes with it, good and bad! I’m with you, wish I was literally though! 😊Enjoy every second of history there! 💯❤️
🤣 It really is a magnificent building, so much history! Hopefully people see how online reviews are so biased and usually aren't as bad as people say 😊😊
Good value. Absolutely lovely, let's hope the guests in the future appreciate it!! Happy new year. Also I hope you don't mind me saying, the teeth look better 😬
LETS HOPE THAT BRITTANIA KEEP THESE ROOMS UP TO THIS STANDARD AFTER SPENDING ALL THIS MONEY ON DOING THE PLACE UP, SCARBOROUGH IS A GREAT AREA TO VISIT.
We went 5 years ago with National Holidays we left after 1 night. It smelt. Damp. Food disgusting . Seagulls dead on window sills. But looks better with your visit.
I have stayed at the Grand, but won't do it again. Even before the revamp I liked the main areas but my room did not have any windows. Part of it backs onto a cliff, and they give these rooms to single people - or used too. It was far too claustrophobic.
I like this place. For me Blackpool is a bit low brow, Bournemouth & Brighton too high brow. Scarborough is sort of middle brow - gets it just about right.
I've heard about the bad reviews for this place. However having seen it from you, i can't fault it for the price. The hotel is amazing. The sea view is awesome, how could you not love this room with such a stunning view. The worst rated hotel reviews, no way. I actually love the bathroom design. Quirky and it works. A chandelier and a 70inch tv? wow. I wouldnt want to leave lol.
I think many of those reviews have been unfair and unfounded. I stayed at the Grand last Summer and found everything to be absolutely fine. Yes there were certain parts which could have done with a bit of TLC and yes it's grandeur may have faded somewhat since its hay day but it is still a beautiful and fascinating building. It certainly looks like Britania are doing their best to restore the place with many improvements. I'd definitely stay there again. Long may this amazing building continue to survive.
Hi excellent video and what a lovely hotel in a great location. I saw that Grand Hotel when i stayed one night in Scarborough. I had a view of the Grand hotel from my Travelodge room opposite. That room you had was just stunning and the view to sea is amazing. I would definitely stay at hotel in that room nothing wrong it.
I'm surprised how good this grand hotel looks. Don't know why it gets a bad rap. Unlike some of the other similar style hotels that are in far worse condition.
I used to stay with the wife but once they started taking foreigners who were dropped by coach at the fish market we followed them they all went into the grand we don't stay anymore
needs hundreds of millions spending on it because it has been totally neglected for years! The only contented clients I would imagine, are the thousands of nesting gulls on the roofs and ledges!
Wow how jammy are you 😂😂 it looks amazin lovely sea view kettle clean woohoo plenty of pressure 👍👍 I don’t think thats a worst rated hotel till the next one 😊
I don’t know about this particular hotel, but many Britannia hotels do accommodate illegals, at British taxpayers’ expense - e.g. in Bournemouth, The Heathlands, and Roundhouse hotels; in Blackpool the Metropole.

These hotels what kind of hotels the Grand has many decent people visiting
Unbelievable value, kept waiting for the bad news. What a perfect room you got!

Funny that because I stayed over Christmas time and rhe entertainment was a lot more than bingo
Looks lovely 😊.. I'm hopefully staying in the deluxe double room at Imperial in Blackpool in February 👍
Happy new year Wigan (sorry don't know your real name) i stayed at the Grand a few years back, my room wasn't too bad but I just remember the huge waterfall inside because of a leak in the roof, oh and the food was awful

totally agree, its all about price now.
We stayed there for a scooter rally. We had a small room, but it was clean, they had hundreds arriving the same time and did a brilliant job!
You landed on your feet and no mistake!
All the best.

Lovely Xmas decorations
£34 CAN'T BEAT THAT! GREAT REVIEW 👏
Totally impressed what a lovely room in a apparently well named Hotel
I would definitely stay there its a lovely looking place and your room is fabulous even got a coffee maker. £34 is a brilliant price.
Good value. Absolutely lovely, let's hope the guests in the future appreciate it!! Happy new year. Also I hope you don't mind me saying, the teeth look better 😬
Thanks I feel much more confident now too 😁
LETS HOPE THAT BRITTANIA KEEP THESE ROOMS UP TO THIS STANDARD AFTER SPENDING ALL THIS MONEY ON DOING THE PLACE UP, SCARBOROUGH IS A GREAT AREA TO VISIT.
The room looks wonderful for the money😊
Nothing wrong with that. Lucky you!👍🏻
Big improvement and reminds me of the standard it was when Butlins owned it back in the day. Should serve drinks in that cocktail bar.
the up grades look great what a difference wow l hope they carry on
We went 5 years ago with National Holidays we left after 1 night. It smelt. Damp. Food disgusting . Seagulls dead on window sills. But looks better with your visit.
Things have definitely improved but the food is still dire
Great upgrading of hotel, hope they charge anybody for any damage done in future, and have got decent cleaners and maintenance staff.
Great value, and hotel has so much character
My daughter and I have stopped at the grand for years love it always have that staircase great
The room is amazing.looks like a little suite.a real good bargain.i may look at staying there at some point next year.

Called in yesterday it was lovely. Clientele was mixed but that was in bar .
Brilliant room mate 👌
I have stayed in the grand hotel many times and I think it’s a great hotel for the price and I’m going again in August
that the one hotel i would never go back to even it was free the rooms are fine it has major other issues
I like this place. For me Blackpool is a bit low brow, Bournemouth & Brighton too high brow. Scarborough is sort of middle brow - gets it just about right.

Exactly! It just shows you shouldn't believe online reviews - of the 100s of people who stay in the hotel per week 1 or 2 may put a review online.

Stonehenge is beautiful and fascinating, but I wouldn’t want to book a room there.
Wow how original. Just what we needed YET ANOTHER "let's review Scarborough's Worst Hotel"
Don't like it don't watch 👍
Very surprised that isn't full of them yet
Hi excellent video and what a lovely hotel in a great location. I saw that Grand Hotel when i stayed one night in Scarborough. I had a view of the Grand hotel from my Travelodge room opposite. MacMaster just got the same room in his video 😂 must be the RUclips room or something
Food poisoning was always a problem at the Grand
I used to stay with the wife but once they started taking foreigners who were dropped by coach at the fish market we followed them they all went into the grand we don't stay anymore
I go every few weeks and never seen any
Great vlog thank you.
Grand Hotel looks very Grand to me. I completely ignore the negative comments people leave, I for one will be booking this hotel for definite.
It is a lovely hotel and really lives up to its name
nice hotel, but why so empty?
It's out of season
needs hundreds of millions spending on it because it has been totally neglected for years! The only contented clients I would imagine, are the thousands of nesting gulls on the roofs and ledges!
Wow that was a bargain

You just fell lucky with that room never stayed with britannia group myself but I know plenty who have never stay in any of their hotel's my friend
I would love to see the room you were supposed to have
Just check out my last vlog here it still wasn't bad tbh
What a lie!
I would never stay in a hotel that was used to accommodate people who entered the UK illegally.
