I can do a tutorial for a Tom Ford Cherry Smoke that was pretty simple if y'all are interested in that! It was only 30 ingredients so more complex but that was one of my better clone attempts- maybe 80-85% similar. Let me know!
Have you tried replicating Lost Cherry by any chance?
@@GiuliettaSims yes, I have! I'll have to do a video on that further down for that one or at least something in that same direction! The smell of cherry is an illusion since there's no essential oils or extracts of cherries! It's usually made with benzaldehyde(a bitter almond note), fructone(a general fruity builder), heliotropin(or the synthetic replacement heliotropex) and a green note like hexenyl cis 3 salicylate! :)
@@topnotesfragrance I subscribed :). Can't wait to see that video. I have a vague idea about perfumes since I've been hyper-fixated on the whole perfume thing for a few months now :). Lost Cherry is my signature scent (layered with Angel's Share) and I am really curious whether it can be replicated close to the original. I like that it is pretty linear, somewhat boozy, a little bit bitter and a little bit sweet. I smell zero sandalwood in LC, and usually I can pick that dill pickle note very fast. I would love to experiment and try to replicate that profile.
@@topnotesfragrance also, any plans for Delina :)? Delina Exclusif in particular.
@@GiuliettaSims i actually haven't smelled Delina yet! I've seen it in stores but have never gotten my nose on it :)
I work at a big time marketing firm and I lead the "viral marketing" department, I know viral worthy content when I see it and this is one of them 👌 Keep this series up
Thank you so much!! I sure hope it goes viral. I'll keep these up- it was a lot of fun to make!!
Thank you, I just finished my first two batches. The six and seven ingredient versions. Very happy.
Oh good!! Im glad you liked them!!🤝🤝
Made a batch and had a lot of fun! I went all the way with your recipe and I’m enjoying the almond-y flare it has. Thanks!
Of course!! I'm glad you enjoyed it 🤝🤝🙏
So did it smelled like br540?
@@joniwestbrook7962 it’s not 1:1 but definitely close. It was just fun to make honestly. Thanks Sebastian for posting this
One of my best friend’s fav frags! It’s super expensive so she’ll be happy to have a way to make some that will last for a loooong time!
Totally man! Unlimited juice hack haha
I got all the ingredients so I can make whipped body butter and some roll on oils I thank you sooooo much for this very informative video. 👏 I forgot a key ingredient so I ordered it but so far this is the beat guided video I found on this. I love baccarat and anything dupe of it like amber oud rouge. I'm so happy I found this!!
You are so welcome! I'm glad it all worked out well 🙏🙏🤝🤝
I'm trying to do something similar and have been hoping that this recipe would be oil-soluble. So you found that it all worked with your oils and body butter? Did you learn anything I should know before making my own?
Super! Now inspired to make fragrances. Your approach is quite unique in that you are very considerate of where people may be in their 'journey', if you will'.
Please consider making more vids like this with instructions/suggestions how we can develop our nose. Thanks again
Wow, thank you! I definitely will!!! Yeah, I remember when I started perfumery years ago it was hard to find easy information for beginners and some of the more experienced folks out there weren't as patient haha I'll put it that way. I want to make getting into perfumery as inviting as possible because it really is a fun and rewarding hobby! Thanks for watching! :)
@@topnotesfragrance Indeed, patience is a virtue. I'm looking forward to it all.
I studied a bit of herbology and Ayurvedic medicine, and a part of learning what herb is beneficial (or desired) is getting to understand its taste and fragrance character. Understanding what group a specific molecule belongs to, it's properties (standard chemistry) and understanding group matching, one can not only identify notes in a fragrance, one can probably get an idea of their character scents...at least I think the principle of it all is something like that
Love your content. Subscribed
Welcome aboard!
Great video! Keep doing these! If you start doing these videos more often you'll blow your channel up fast!!
Thanks Nate, I'll try to keep them coming!! :)
It would be great if you can make more videos like this, very useful for learning journey, how each ingredients works together. Thank you , cant wait for more.
Of course! I'm planning on doing a nautica voyage clone next- it really helped me learn how to make aquatic fragrances when I first made it! :)
@@topnotesfragrance cant wait , thank you bro ✌️
Great video and insight! This video needs a "shorts" trailer for it for sure, so more people have a chance to see it and learn.
A perfumer Q&A would probably serve you well also, where you could just bang out the answers to a few subscriber questions real quick in response videos.
Regardless, it's been great to have been here from the beginning and watch your growth. Congrats on the 1k 👍👍
So true- I need to make more shorts in general too huh. I'll make sure to do a perfumer Q&A in the future- that's a great idea! :)
YOU ARE THE FREAKING GOATTTTTT
Ahahaha thanks man 🙏🙏🙏🤝🤝
Hi, it was a very helpful guide.
It will be great also if you teach us how to reverse engineering and figure out the recipe for any existing perfume by ourselves.
Thanks a lot 🙏
Ooh that's a great idea for a video! I'll definitely put one of those out in the future- thanks for watching Nathan! :)
Hey Sebastian! Congrats! So happy to see your channel growing and I knew you'd see 1k subs sooner than you expected. Thanks so much for the shout out! Always happy to show support, my friend. I have smelled the original BR540 but don't own it. Love seeing your Perfumery videos as well. Keep the content coming. Still hoping to see you come up with a Gucci Envy dupe!
❤💯🎊
Thanks Ray :) yeah it's been quite a journey to 1k huh! You've seen my better videos and my not so great ones haha it's always a pleasure to see your comments show up. I knowww I still need to take a crack at Gucci Envy- I haven't forgotten! Cheers 🤝🤝🤝
@@topnotesfragrance LOL You're welcome! I figured you would take a crack at it at some point, no rush. Yeah, I remember the first vid of yours I viewed. I remember seeing you go through changes, tweaking, adjusting, etc. There was always something there though and your honest personality comes through, consistently. That's very important and what I connect with while watching.
The Evolution of Sebastian and this channel are fun to witness.
Really interesting! I’d love to see you do a video about how you got interested in becoming a perfumer and how you learned the craft. And thanks for the shoutout!!!❤️
Of course man!! That's a great idea- I'll have to do one with that as part of like a Q&A video!
7:47 I think there are ways to get as close to pure ethanol as possible, aka "dry ethanol" by adding some baked epsom salts to the ethanol and just letting it sit at the bottom, or filtering out the baked epsom salts. You basically have to forgo some of the ethanol in order to have it pure, like you just won't be able to use it all. The baked epsom salts absorb any water from the ethanol, that it absorbs from the moisture in the atmosphere. That's the case for a lot of solvents. They absorb moisture from the air.
This is awesome, made it and love it. Made it to 25% concentration to 98% alcohol. I got problems with it lasting on the skin, I first thought just mine but my mates all love it and doesn't last on their skin either, I'm talking less then 30mins. After that your get a super faint smell. What can we add for longevity to adhere to the skin more?
P.s. not mocking your work, absolutely love it and this was my first perfumery project and fell in love with your formula. Just wanting more of your awesome advice on longevity. Thanks from the UK! 🇬🇧
Im glad you like it so much!!! No worries!! If you wanna get technical you can buy something called glucam p-20 which is what a lot of the designer fragrances have to improve longevity especially in top notes! You could also add a bit extra evernyl or some galaxolide (a nice clean musk that increases longevity) just remember that for the modt part adding these ingredients called fixatives that help the fragrance stick around longer starts to sacrifice projection- it's hard to get the best of both worlds without just using more powerful ingredients :) hope this helps!!
@topnotesfragrance there you go again, teaching me something new :-) Gluecam p-20.... never heard of it so will be looking into it right away. Defo gonna try a version with galaxolide, and more veramoss you say? I made your version another time and it ended up being nearly 4% Veramoss in final concentration. Are you saying this helps with fixing the others scents to the skin? If so.... Well I never knew that! I'll jump back on that to with added Galax and gonna try P-20. Thanks, you the man! ✌🏽
@@Jayeshharjiuse galaoxide for long last.. use it 5% from total perfume. * Sorry my english is no good
I have the same longevity issue
Great video!
New Subbie!
I purchased all the recommended ingredients. I did not substitute. However, the scale you recommended is no longer available with Amazon. However, I did buy one similar. Let’s hope it has good calibration like the one you recommended.
I’ll be back in a week or so with an update of my results. ⭐️
Update!
This is an awesome video man!
Thanks Benedict! Cheers 🤝🤝🙏
Thank you very much for making this video! I LOVE this fragrance!!!!! ❤
You are so welcome!
Will try this! next Nobile and the Unicorn Iquitos ....LOVE it!
I am a nerd subscriber today. Congrats on reaching 1,000 SUBS.✨ It Appears you have tripled since then. I bought BBR540. 2 months ago and I have used so much, It IS VERY addicting! 16:37 It’s nearly half gone. So l love “making potions” so you have inspired me to try!
QUESTION: I have become “nose Blind” wearing it and i hear that is quite typical with this perfume in general . Is there an ingredient that i can add to address this problem ❓ Why does this perfume, in particular perform this way?
Thanks for your time and knowledge. I can’t wait to give it a go! 🌺
Welcome!! :) thank you for subbing, I appreciate it! Really any time they use a small list of very powerful ingredients like ambroxan and ethyl maltol you have the danger o going nose blind to it...especially if you spray too much! It happens a lot with the stronger fragrances
Amazing video. I was wondering about the Safraleine because I noticed you mentioned it at the beginning of the video but didn't add it in at the end. Any recommendations for how to use it to recreate this perfume?
I was wondering the same thing.., I purchased it and now I’m like.😮
great point! If I were using the Safraleine I would go for a 10% concentration and just use 1 drop- about .020 grams of it for the amount used in this video and then scale up! It should only be around 1% of the final perfume concentrate give or take a bit. I hope this helps! You can dilute it by adding, say, .020 grams of it into a separate container and then diluting in ethanol until the whole thing weight .200 grams to make it 10% :)
More of these please
Interesting. thank you for sharing! I bookmarked this video and maybe will try it later.
Of course Giulietta!! Let me know how it goes :)
@@topnotesfragrance it won't happen right away though. But whenever I decide that I am ready to get into experimenting I'll make it. It's interesting that I just google the store that you linked, and later found your video after randomly googling "how to make baccarat rouge". I did not expect to find an actual tutorial. I am still indecisive about whether I need this perfume since on some days it's sweet cotton candy, and on other days I smell gauze and hospital. And some people who smelled it from me can't stand this perfume. I wonder if I go lower on veramoss will that "hospital" note feel less intense or is it just personal sensitivity to Evernyl that plays a role.
Wow, i have been waiting for this… btw after mixing, do we need to age the mixed before using ut?
That's a great question! Peak maceration actually occurs at about 72 hours, so after that thing's really slow down but they do technically age over time just a little bit. People really exaggerate aging of fragrances, but it is technically real :)
You can use right away though!
@@topnotesfragrance ohh thats cool… i have been starting mxing like the “ready-to-use” fragrance oil (if there is a term for that” and just mix it with the perfume alcohol. The difference is that i believed the oil that is sold to where im residing now is literally a copy of thise known brands that are avaialble in the market (they even named the oil as like those well-known brand) so this time im really trying to find raw materials😍 and watching videos like yours…
Thanx for sharing how to make it at home , loved the video !!!! Also are you able to make bond .9 New York nights ?
This video is awesome! Thanks for sharing. Do you know if it is possible to get the same ingredients as plant based isolates or extracts, instead of the synthetics? Thanks so much🙏🏽
Thank you!! :) if you search the name of each ingredient on perfumersapprentice sometimes you'll find a version that will say something like "citral (natural)" which means it was isolated from a natural source! (For the case of citral i think they usually use lemongrass) but honestly a lot of ingredients aren't going to have natural versions and I don't think any of these ones have naturals!
I haven't tried BR540 yet, but I have Mancera Instant Crush; I've heard that they are similar. I've noticed a slight hint of like a scent note in that, that reminds me of Cincinnati chili. It's like this runny chili that they have at restaurants around here in Cincinnati, Ohio, and I'm not sure what that scent is. I can't quite identify it. I'm not sure what they put in the chili, but I know it has some sweet ingredients too, but the scent note that I've noticed in Instant Crush is kinda animalic, and like just slightly fecal. It's like the beginning of that animalic fecal scent, but it stops before it actually gets gross. Maybe saffron?
Hmm that's a tough one! Yeah instant crush is known to smell like it but i havent actually smelled it before- that could be a pimento note maybe? Usually saffron is a more metallic and slightly stuffy smell- they use safranal which is the actualy aromachem that's responsible for its smell but u could use safraleine as well! Idk if any of those smell like chili to my nose but it could be that youre right and its the saffron!
Great video! I used all of the exact ingredients you listed and I made it last night and it turned out very well! It does have a strong alcohol smell to it. Does it need to sit for a period of time before I wear it for that smell to not be so strong? Is there something else I should add? Thank you for your help!
I think you should use perfumer's alcohol instead of ethanol. Ethanol has a strong smell and is used for hand sanitizer or first aid. PA has ethanol (denatured), Isopropyl myristate - used in preparations where good absorption is desired & Monopropylene glycol - a cosolvent which allows the fragrance oils to be solubilised in the alcohol carrier. This helps to control the evaporation of the alcohol so that it does not flash off too quickly., All the best
Candle maker here looking to get into making my own perfumes to sell alongside my candles. This was so straight forward! Looking to go to perfumery school but there isn't one (from my understanding) in my state :(
Thoughts on an online school/course?
I haven't used any online courses, but it's a good place to start! Its especially tricky because there aren't a whole lot of resources to learn perfumery, huh! Let me know if you get a course in the future and if it was any good! :)
Thank you so much for this! Could you possibly tell me how to make a laundry detergent out of this?
Thank you so much this helped so much
Does my calculation work here if I am making a total of 3.875 oz -.4 oz Hedione, .2 oz of Ambroxen, .1 oz of Veramoss, .025oz of Ethyl Maltol, .025 Oz of Iso E Super, .025 Oz of Heliotropex and 3.1 oz of Ethenol ( 20% concentration) for a total batch of 3.875 oz
Did you try it
Lovely!
Can you do parfums de marly delina?
Awesome!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey! I'm getting into perfumery just got my order in of all my materials. I assumed that the oils would have a strong scent however they are pretty mild. Is that normal?
Yes, that's normal! Think of most ingredients as a flower that needs alcohol to really bloom- the scent is there and some materials really are quite powerful especially some of the butyrates and maltols but youll usually only experience that when you start blending and adding perfumers alcohol :)
Awesome
. Waiting for a formula of EO1&EO2
it's so funny you mention those haha if they are what they say they are on the website and are just one molecule then EO1 is pure Iso E super (a great workhouse woody material and very cost effective too) and EO2 is just Ambroxan haha not much of a formula huh! They are good enough materials to wear on their own but it's a very interesting concept and I haven't actually smelled them in real life so I'd assume they just smell like the raw ingredients!
Félicitation pour les 1000 🎉 . I have a question please. Il suffit d'avoir les mêmes notes pour cloner un parfum ? Sorry for my english 😅 i m french ! Could you clone any perfume ?
No need to apologise! :) I wish I could haha I'm not that good! I've made a pretty good clone of farenheit by dior and maybe one or two others but I hope to get better at it with practice!
I made this using the 7 ingredients. It's airy and very similar. However, the sillage is not good and also longevity is lacking. How can I improve that?
I would add a bit of galaxolide to it! Maybe 1% of final mixture or you could mix it in an oil carrier instead of alcohol!
@@topnotesfragrance yeah, I think I will do the oil version. Now I have a litre of perfumers alcohol, ambroxan and iso e super. Might just use it to make Molecule 01 and Molecule 02.
Would you add DPG to it as I heard you should? and why is the ambroxan at 10% as I heard it should be added at 100%? sorry I'm just a bit new to perfumery
That's ok- you can add it at whatever percentage you want because it's just an ingredient- It's just easier to work with at 10% because its a solid at 100% dilution. DPG is just a solvent to put other ingredients in and has no major effect on the composition so it's not necessary.
I made this today and it came out exact. Still toying with staying with the 4 ingredients or adding all 7. I tried both and both are amazing. Question, please kindly respond as soon as you can. I want to put this into my lotion. Do I just add the concentrate to the lotion or the entire perfume with the Ethanol? Thanks much. I usually add at 1% essential or fragrance oil when I make a 64% batch of lotion. TIA
Great!! Im glad it worked well for you :) yes- just put the concentrate in the lotion, no alcohol involved! 1% is a great idea, about industry standard. Thanks for watching and for your feedback!! :)
For Safralein did you mean dilute it to 2% before adding it or that the mass you add is 2% of that final volume?
Yeah dilute it to 2% first, and if you can get your hands on some safranal thats even better but again dilute to 2% before even adding any to your mixture :)
Can you list of measurements of each ingredients ?
I have attempted a few small batches and I am finding this version to have a sweeter scent and I am not getting similar projection or longevity...any recommendations on troubleshooting.. Thanks in advance for any insight and for sharing this
Sorry to hear that! The sweetness comes from the ethyl maltol, so you could decrease ethyl maltol and increase the other 3 ingredients and play around with that! :)
@@topnotesfragrance I will try that...maybe mix all others and add the ethyl maltol last
Hello: all sounds goof but I am just confused with adding the Ethanol. if we have 631ML at the end how do we calculate the 10% and 20% of the ethanol? Thanks
No problem! Measure the weight in grams, probably somewhere around 650grams or so and then divide by .10 or .20 depending on concentration. If you do 10%, then you need to add alcohol until the full mixture weighs 6,550 grams! Does this make sense? Also why are you using ml?
Can you mix this with a carrier oil instead of the ethanol?
Yes you can! if you do I'd say try to find as neutral of an oil as you can and one that will last long without going rancid...i hear sometimes jojoba oil can work but i'm not as well versed with oil carriers so I'd look it up and check first! :) thanks for watching!
Question about the formula: I want to make 4 oz of this. The formula is as follows as you stated but I need to know the percentage of the last 3 ingredients. Ambroxen is 50% of the Hedione, Vermoss is 50% of the Ambroxen and I think you said Ethyl Maltol is 25% of Veramoss. What is the percentage of Iso E super and Helioropex. I know you said 1 drop of each but I need a percentage if I am going to make 4 oz. I hope this is clear. I really do appreciate all your help.
Hi, thank you for the video! What is the total weight, if using all everything except the Safraleine? I'm getting 9 grams is that correct? I can't figure out how much total amount of Ethyl Alcohol to use. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the video. With six ingredients, which which ones are the top notes, middle notes, and the base notes?
Don’t think this is the correct recipe for the fragrance but it’s still nice.
How do you use the safraleine in the recipe? How much total did you create in this video? Thank you for sharing.
For the amounts in this video I would use .016 grams of a 10% dilution, so about 1 drop of the 10% stuff! :)
Thank you...Am I understanding correctly that the safraleine needs to be diluted then added or are you simply stating a single drop for the 10% concentration? @@topnotesfragrance
I think I found a previous response to a similar question...I understand now
How do you dilute the saf?
Bro you have to make a how to make mercedes benz black leather perfume this one is discontinued but a killer scent
Ooh ill look into it! I own 2 of the mercedes ones and theyre both super solid
Can you also do 540 rouge extrait as well?
Wouldn't that just be the same but with less alcohol?
@@science_bear slightly different formula
Great video Sebastian. I live in the UK, i would love to try to do these, but where would i find the formula for each fragrance?
thanks Scott! I'm not sure I know what you mean by formula for each fragrance? Like where to find each ingredient? The formula is in this video if you mean this specific fragrance, but technically all the perfumes in stores that you'd find have a secret formula so it's not posted anywhere
@@topnotesfragrance Morning Sebastian. My Comment about the formula was more about the formulation and the amount of ingredients in each fragrance. Hop this helps. Keep up the good work.
@TopNotes which ingredient in the mixture gives it that good smelling aromatic, sweet woody smell to it? I've been looking for fragrances with this smell for a long time.
it's part of it! ethyl maltol literally smells like burnt sugar/sweet air so when you combine it with the veramoss and other woody ingredients like iso e super it makes it sweet and woody :)
goodnight! Could you explain in a simple but effective way how to make a similar perfume using fragrantica or another website?
can you make a video on how to make a parfume version of BOD fresh blue musk? been wearing it for years and it smells good, however does not last as long. thanks!
Ive actually never smelled that ome but I believe I know what you're referring to- they come in the spray bottle looking containers right? Ill keep an eye out for one next time im at the store!
So do you sell your own version? I bought the Oakcha version, but to me it is NOT the same at all. Yes it smells similar.... but no where near the delicate type of the original fragrance. Its not something I would wear....only spray in my house. I wonder if yours or the ALT one is more delicate
Can you do a DIY Tom Ford hombre leather and tobacco vanille.
I can definitely try my hand at a tobacco vanille one- stay tuned!!
Awesome Video. Thank You! Want to make enough for a 30ml bottle. What would be the measurements for a bottle of this size? Thank you very much.
😂
Can you give the measurements for 3.4 OZ bottle ! Much appreciated
I'm a total noob at this. But I can't find Ambroxan 10% dpg in my area. However, I can obtain Ambroxide powder. Can I use this? How much should I use then?
Totally! Just dilute the ambroxan powder to 10% by weight (like adding 1 gram of ambroxan to 9 grams of alcohol or 10 grams ambroxan to 90 grams alcohol) I hope this helps! :)
@@topnotesfragrance Thanks man, this helps me a lot. I'm going to order the materials soon and I'm going to give it a try.
@@topnotesfragrance I finally tried it last week. And I love it! It lasts very long on my skin. Thanks for sharing.
@@PeterArras-dr5jj of course peter, any time! :)
How can I turn this into a fragrance oil? I would like to put this in my lotions, candles and etc.
Great question! The mixture we make in this video before diluting with alcohol is a pure fragrance concentrate which is sometimes referred to as a fragrance oil. If you want to make it easier to use for skin, I would dilute it in a neutral smelling oil like possibly jojoba oil or search around for another carrier oil with minimal smell that lasts long to around 20% concentration if going on skin as a roller ball. If you're doing lotions, i would recommend diluting the pure fragrance concentrate we put together in this video to about 0.5- 1.5% by weight in an unscented lotion. Shampoos are 1-2% usually but no more because it can be harmful to scalp. Candles you can go higher like 5% I believe but I don't have a lot of experience with candle applications- i just know that sometimes it can take more than you think. I hope this helps!!
@@topnotesfragrance yes, this helps a lot thank you so much!!
Dear what will act as fixative in this formula?
Hi there! Question: to make it easier for people bad at math (like myself) would it be possible to tare the scale after every ingredient?
Yes you can!
Well I watched video and read all the comments and it appears some things were not discussed so I'm curious did you purposely leave it out not to be sued? Also how did you come across the recipe to make. Thanks
No I didn't leave anything out on purpose- I just thought my video was pretty straight forward but a lot of folks are beginners and haven't really done this sort of thing before. I made the formula, but it's also fairly well known across the basenotes forums. There's also GCMS reports that show the same general skeleton formula!
It didn’t come out right to me .. I could hardly smell it . I done everything right I followed all the steps extremely well
Hmm, you may need to give it some time as well as your nose some time to recover from using the materials? I'm not sure why it's working for everyone else but not for you, thats a bummer! - what was your final concentration of your fragrance? Could you smell the raw ingredients or not very well either?
great stuff . can u do one for opium black or hypnotic poison dior plse
Also b please make clone of tobacco oud
I'd like to try this out soon! Do u got any tips on how to make this scent a lil more masculine?
You could always try a bit more of the veramoss and ambroxan and a bit less of the ethyl maltol so it's less sweet! Let me know how it goes!
@@topnotesfragrance awesome thx, will let u know!
Should we always use milligrams or if making a bigger batch can we use oz! Please advise. Thanks
I would use grams for a big batch!! Ounces would be enormous and not as accurate :)
Subbed!
I'm glad yoy liked the video Macayo cheers! 🤝
❤
Thanks am glad I had all the ingredients and although I have most of them 10% the longevity was impressive.
I am trying to get a similar scent to FAITH by: boadicea de victorious and just can’t get it right I have bought all the notes that it claims to have . If you ever decide to try to clone that one let me know please this is my favorite fragance I highly recommend it.
Oh good!!! Im glad it worked well for you! I'll definitely let you know :)
@@topnotesfragrance sounds good!
Prada lhomme please
Can I add fixative to it?
Great question! You can, but the veramoss already has incredible fixative properties to it and ethyl maltol stays for quite some time too so it should already last super long but if you want to you always can! Just remember if you add too much it will negatively impact the projection :)
@@topnotesfragrance Thank you very much for your fast response. Amazing videos on your channel.

Hello, please if you dont mind me asking again, im in Kuwait and Ethanol is listed as one of the those dangerous goods, what kind of alcohol i can replace it with
You cant use any other alcohols unfortunately but you can use carrier oils and make a roller ball! Id use a neutral odorless oil like jojoba oil
@@topnotesfragrancei found an alcohol here called “processes alcohol for perfume grade 99.9% scentless A8075,1000PE” by PanReac AppliChem. Most locals used this one to mix with some mixed oil fragrances to make home perfumes.
I want to purchase a kit from Perfumers apprentice to learn more about perfume making, do you have a recommendation on a kit that is good for a beginner. I want to learn how to formulate some of these main stream fragrances and create some of my own. TIA
Yeah the beginners aromachemical kit is a solid place to start! Youll still need the scale and other stuff but i put links to them in the description- theyre cheaper on amazon than on perfumersapprentice :)
Do you let it age before you use it, or do you use it immediately after you make it?
You can use it immediately afterwards but it will continue to mature or "macerate" for up to several weeks after! Peak maceration is mostly finished after 72 hours though so dont wprry about it too much :)
So good to know
New subscriber today! I ✨Congratulations on your success. I see you have tripled that since this video. I can’t wait to watch your other videos. I always like thinking about “mixing potions” so this idea is very appealing to me. I just bought BR540 2 months ago and have gone through half the bottle already . It really IS addicting, I love it. I would like trying to make it myself.
Question : I have become “nose blind” to this scent when I use it. I hear that is common. Do you know why this perfume in particular causes this❓If so, is there an ingredient that can be altered to change that factor? 🌺
Does it have to be that specific ethyl alcohol at 95%
Honestly I think anything over around 90% should work but of you get too much water in it it will be cloudy and it will be harder to dissolve stuff in it!
How long should something like this macerate?
Well most of maceration happens after about 72 hours believe it or not! Sure there's some changes that can happen over months but its really over-exaggerated and for a simple formula like this you should be good to go after about a day or so!
@@topnotesfragrance thanks Sebastian 👍😁
May you provide an oil that acts as in alcohol substitute?
You can try jojoba oil or possibly fractionated coconut oil- just make sure it has no smell to it and has a long shelf life! :)
Can you do a tutorial on Delena?
Curious, I have br540 and it has turned to alcohol what would happen if I used your ingredients could I use the alcohol from the original br540 to bring my br540 back to life? It's almost a whole bottle and I'm sick that it has turned to alcohol.
Well, the ingredients can't just dissappear out of the bottle or become inert, so if you add this it would probably just double the amount of ingredients in there- you could always give it a try though! I think you probably just went nose blind to it and blew out your olfactory bulb which can take some time to come back :) give it a few days and give it a smell in open air without getting your nose too close or ask someone else if they can smell it!
@@topnotesfragrance I purchased it from another so I think they may exposed it to heat as in their purse or car. I have let others smell it to see if they smell the same think I smell and 6 noses agree it just smells like alcohol. Now once the alcohol dries down there is a very very faint smell of what it should be.
@@joniwestbrook7962if very faint smell that was exp perfume
where can I order these ingredients in Canada?
Hmm you could look into perfumersworld- theyre based in thailand but ive bought stuff here in the us plenty of times before and theyre actually a really reasonable price! Their website is super outdated though just a heads up haha i hope this helps!
@@topnotesfragranceI ordered from Perfumers Apprentice and paid the duties 😢. It wasn’t too bad. Just made my first batch. In love!!
Wondering if I I can make the concentrate and add it to an oil?
Can you use the finished oil for candles?
Totally! The application in candles is tricky though, be careful because sometimes it wont mix well with the wax and some aromachems dont perform very well in candle or shampoo applications!
Dilute in MCT oil to 20% now you have a fragrance oil for candles. Use this at 10% in your wax. This works for soy wax, I don’t use paraffin.
Make this recipe using percentages provided, make 56 grams. This is about 2 ounces, mix with 10 ounces of MCT oil, you now have a 20% fragrance oil that will work in candles. Keep concentration of fragrance oil between 5-10%…. Soooo the 12oz of fragrance oil you made will blend into 120oz of soy wax at a 10% concentration or 240oz at a 5% concentration.
Hope this helps. I’ve done this in my candles.
Your cold throw and hot throw of scent will vary with certain fragrances.
How to make Issey Miyake Bleue
Nice video. Any chance you can share the cas number for the alcohol your using.
It's 95% ethanol and it doesn't say on the containers but a google search says it' 64-17-5! If you check the amazon link i put in the descriptions the listing might say CAS but its just 95% ethanol
@@topnotesfragrance yes i have seen the gold for ethyl is sda da40b 190-200 proof 95-100% which is listed as 16-17-15. I’m my area I can’t find the standard 16-17-5 by I have found 64-17-5 and after some research also found that it is a cosmetic grade so should be fine. I just want to be double sure since some ethyl is denatured with compound that are not safe for skin. Thanks for your response I really appreciate it.
Can you substitute the ethanol for an oil to make the fragrance last longer?
Yes you definitely can- just remember that with increased longevity comes slightly decreased projection :) let me know how it goes!
I think I may have messed up somewhere while making it, but i knew i would probably mess up🤣 so Im going to try again once my ethanol arrives tomorrow.
Could you do a tutorial or give me steps on how to make around 50 MLs.
Sorry i have a lot of questions but could i use ethanol and oil?
The scent lasts about 2 hours is there any way for me to make the longevity better?
Totally! You can try making it more concentrated like 25% concentration in the alcohol and you can also try increasing the veramoss by a bit, try a 20% increase maybe? Let me know how it goes! It should last really long though so Im surprised- do you go noseblind to stronger scents easily?
Hey I haven't had time to remake and it does last around 6-7 hours but the projection dies down around 2 hours in is what I meant. I do slightly so I had others smell it they said they can barely smell it@@topnotesfragrance
Can i skip the ethanol and use this in a roller?
Yes but you still need a carrier so you can use a neutral oil of your choice like jojoba oil or something :)
Can you do jimmy choo I want you
Does this last long though? Seems there is alot missing
Yes it does- what ingredient do you think is missing?
What about Safraleine?
For this recipe you'd only need 1 drop of a 5% solution- it's quite strong! Same with safranal, which would be even better if you can get your hands on it!
What ratio would you recommend for making this into a room/linen spray?
room and linen sprays are usually more like 5% to my knowledge so if you dilute it to 2-5% you should be square! :)
@@topnotesfragrance I made one the other day turned out great! Only issue I had was the scale kept turning off
Is sauvage available?
THANK YOUUUUU
Of course!
Fascinating! I'm tempted to try for women's perfumes. Have you ever replicated Chanel Mademoiselle or Chance? Or Miss Dior?
great question! I've tried a few times to replicate coco mademoiselle because it's my favorite women's fragrance but had little success...it's extremely complicated but I actually created several wonderful perfumes along the way as a happy accident haha. I haven't done any of the ladies dior frags but I did a very convincing clone of dior farenheit that I'll have to put out a video of soon! :)
@@topnotesfragrance I've heard that Chanel can be hard to replicate.
listen.. this video was good. tooo good. Now, Top Notes.. I need your help in replicating the justin bieber someday that has been discontinued.. if u could do this, i would personally make a video of me trying this lil recipe out xD
Unfortunately I couldn't find any GCMS reports to go off of so it would just be me smelling a sample and trying to make my best guess which is like a needle in a haystack, but what I can do for you is suggest similar fragrances to check out after looking around a little while on the web!! Apparently you can check out juicy couture viva la juicy, ari Ariana Grande, Jean Paul Gaultier la belle,Simone Andreoli Pacific Park, clean reserve radiant nectar, Zara Pink Fire, or GOOD GIRL by Carolina Herrera!
Hope this helps! I'm sorry it's not the answer u were looking for- its really tough with discontinued fragrances unless you have a GCMS!
@@topnotesfragrance Ah worth a try! No worries at all , i got the viva la juicy and it indeed smells really good! Thank you for taking your time to reply, shows that you care for your viewers!! :D
