I admit I'm 100% that guy that starts looking forward to A1 as soon as the finale SMX! I get on RUclips daily looking for some type of motorcycle mainly dirt bike content. I watched the world supercross championship anything that's televised I tried to get. And as I sit here now I just so ready for A1 and I hope number 38 danger boy races West Coast
@@doglover136_ I don't think so. He's already said he's racing West for several months now. That's why I said "if" he gets hurt between now and A1, I'm pretty sure he's reaching West. East Coast is the backup for anyone planning to race West, as it always has been since day 1 of the regional series.
@ I heard he’s racing east, but i would be really happy if he races west becuase he would race in a stadium(anaheim) he grew up going to and racing in sometimes, the socal fans would be able to see the deegans hard work paying off and id be happy becuase i’m from socal, and was bummed when i didn’t see haiden race west, but completely understood why
this was a great episode Jace! You had great situational awareness with Bob where you toned down the f-words, bro's, and jujitsu. i don't know why so many people get so irate when you bring up jujitsu, i could careless 😂 but i did notice in this episode you reeled it way back. when Bob was telling one of his many great stories or getting a point across, i could tell you were going to interrupt or say a one liner; but you stopped yourself, sat back in silence and just listened. you could see it on your face that the wheels were spinning, you almost said something, then stopped yourself. that's the trait of a great interviewer. *hat tip* to you on this episode!
His ideas would be great for an electric bike series. The radio chatter would make up for the lack of noise, and they would need a pit stop to change batteries to finish.
Grew up waiting for Cycle news and even older information. 65 now rider/racer and yep I watch or listen to Moto content every day. This particular show is definitely top two of all information. Wife says I'm a child 😂
Washougal was the most watched because that's where deegan dominated last year. I think everybody was hoping to see that happen again. Yeah the Microsoft thing helped. But definitely deegan going 11 last year. Put that race on the map
Yall need to stop looking at supercross for the coms, purse ect. It’s ALL about the story line. Look at UFC they spend lots of money on promotion and content on their fighters. That’s how they need to promote the riders the same way. Show the story line. You can post content through the week for the race and then build up the story lines. That’s why people have been watching Deegan
I grew up the same as Bob, looking forward to any thing on TV dirtbike related! Anyone remember that infomercial when the total gym came out with that motocross guy on it. Lol. I watched that just to see something on TV with a dirtbike. I grew up with out cable tho to so even worse!!
Ngl I think this guy has done a lot for this sport but I think he is over complicating the sport, my gf watches it and knows exactly what’s going on. I think they need to invest more into rider content to sell each rider. Literally just watch the ufc and copy it.
This conversation about how to stream line and make it consistant comes full circle to feld and mx sports not running the business like other pro sports like nascar where the teams get a percentage of revenue. . Give the teams a percentage like other sports so they can bankroll properly and not have the riders making peanuts while the promoters take in all revenue. Allow the riders to use there own footage for promotions like they used to be able to etc. Basically this shitshow call mx sport/feld/ama is handicapping what the sport could be.
VR goggles on a robot bike, it wouldn’t have to buck like the rider feels completely to scare shit outta someone that doesn’t really ride. I watched every race live on the app live from country west Oz and will again next season, 47 year old fan and wannabe rider once upon a time it’s been a lifelong hassle to see any related content. As a kid we got very little tv racing but one r big race, the king of the cross was local and the biggest weekend of the year, other than that it was reading the magazines the school library got in that gave me my info, the app is amazing to be able to see the lot live finally
I don’t think you will ever get a media guy to fully understand and be able to portray the sport as it really is. Mainly because I don’t think it’s possible to put it across to somebody that hasn’t ever tried to go fast. And I don’t mean have a go on a bike and do a few laps. I mean actually try to go fast. The only idea I can think of is to just sit down the MotoGP riders that ride moto and ask them. They idolise moto guys and I believe people would listen to them when they speak about how gnarly it is.
Any interested in learning more about Bob's client Brian Deegan, check out the doc, "Blood Line: The Life & Times of Brian Deegan," which I made, as well as his section in my film, "Unchained: the Untold Story of FMX." And coming up, new feature doc in movie theaters next year, "Pay Dirt: The Story of Supercross," narrated by Josh Brolin.
Just a thought regarding possibilities of helping non riders comprehend skills of. "The Modern Day Gladiator" Broadcast to use riders eye camera (Aus Supercars drivers eye camera). On screen real time bike telemetry, showing speed, gear, brake & acceleration bar graph, jump height & distance measurement.
Definetly agree with getting rid of those C practice riders in supercross. 15 seconds a lap slower means you don't belong there. F1 has a 107% rule and that would equate to about 6-7 seconds in supercross.
Second comment, sport won’t grow if tracks keep getting shut down. The big dogs in marketing need to help “grow are sport”, by stepping up to the issue of grass roots getting shut down.
The radio thing is not a good idea and clearly the riders don’t want it either. Nobody wants to be in a heated race and have someone talking in their ear and they don’t want to have to watch their mouth either because someone might be listening. It’s also a safety issue because it’s a distraction, if you’re about to hit a triple and hear “Red Cross after the triple” you’re distracted. Get off the radio idea, nobody wants it.
And the lappers and flag mistakes make things exciting and keep things close. Stop trying to make it as boring and streamlined as nascar, I mean pit stops seriously. The pit stop is between races. That axle nut you’re talking about missing just made Jett Lawrence land a triple on his front forks.
Change the Rider Championship, instead of a full year point system, run a play off system (NASCAR). Hype the shit outta all of those emotions. Championship comes down to the season finale. Four riders battling each other for Gold! All while the rest of the field don't give a shit, only having eyes on winning the Moto!!!
They changed from heats back to semis & it was so horrible, you have to have 4 heats 2 lcqs 2 main event it’s tradition. It’d be like adding or taking away a Quarter in a football game, you just don’t do it
Sounds like the promoters need to be fired!!!! Get new ones in. All goes back management, and being held accountable. If your not doing your job, see ya!!!!
Would love to see prime come in to it I'm surprised they haven't gone down the route of redbull ,rockstar ,monster energy be cool to see a team sponsored by them and riders as well
IMO the 'general' sports media/journos are in the pockets of the mainstream sports. It's obvious moto is King and the other "sports" wouldn't get a look in if Moto viewing was easily accessible. Maybe in the interest of Moto, SX races were FREE to view (it own app or RB) and all in heavily promoted across all platforms... Mainstream sports flying monkey media won't help, they'll only hinder.

Unless he gets injured between now and A1, he's been very open about racing West Coast
@@JustBrewha55And also East

I agree. This was a different podcast than usual. Longer too. Bobs a wild man, and it was cool to hear his backstory
You had three geniuses all cone through at the same time deegan ,pastrana and carey hart these dudes our proper stars they just rose the sport unreal
I've always been heart broken since Jessy Nelson got paralyzed. He was my favorite 250 rider on that TLD KTM

Jase - you knocked it out of the park with this podcast. Great job! Super interesting.
What an INTERVIEW!!! Congratulations Jase!
Great convo! First time I have made it through a full 3 hr podcast. Can’t wait for 2025 season.

Bobs got great stories and knows how to ride a dirt bike - ridden the Rip to Cabo with him a few times, even though I’m a nobody 😂
Private equity is the death. I’m so happy he mentioned it 🙌🏻

Wasn’t able to go ride today, thanks for the upload to pass the day. Cheers 🍻 mate from Tennessee

Bob is good dude. Had the chance to ride with him when Icon Dan wanted to ride in Cleveland.
Finaly something to watch @ home with 3 cracked vertabrae waiting to go ride again, cheers from sweden
Washougal viewership was so high because it carried viewers over from the live NBC network pga tour broadcast

Can you prepose the AMA gets MPH trackers on the bikes. I think it would be super dope for the fans to see a live speed.
So early! Jase you’re a legend, we want to hear your story!
The Pontiac shirt is sick!
40:00 pros wouldnt be pros without seeing the the "slower guys"
PIT STOPS!!!! That’s huge!!!!!!!!
Damn good episode 🔥 🔥🔥
Bonus from this is there is another Jorge Prado gypsy tales he's great

the pits idea is wild to me
Fascinating program
Not a fan of the pit stop idea, it'd slow down the racing too much and take away intensity, this isn't Nascar or f1
Another great podcast and many other great ideas
2:50:30 that's probably why monster jam aligned with UNOH after years of being with UTI
That's 2:53:15
No no no... everyone wa watching washougal because so many guys were on 2 strokes!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Agree! 🔥🔥
Loved it bub
Was woody woodpecker not a Honda title sponsor?
I think a two tier gate would be kinda cool
