I really love how the makers of Cobalt Blue have given a tribute to Deepa Mehta’s romantic drama FIRE whose release in 1996 faced several setbacks. But the film ended up collecting huge accolades in film festival circuits and later became a landmark cinematic effort. Also, there are two moments in Cobalt Blue where Tanay’s character holds a red water bottle. It feels like a souvenir for him because he was drinking from that same bottle when he saw his potential soulmate coming towards him with his bicycle. What are your thoughts?
This movie deserves an Academy award. How subtly they have put various relevant elements together in the movie is really appreciable. You also articulated your review very well.
Wow. Well done, friend! This is one of the very best films I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched it many times, & am still organizing my thoughts, as rich as this film is, visually, narratively, allegorically, cinemagraphically, literarily, and a superb adaptation & direction by the novel’s author. A truly breathtaking film.
Just watched this excellent film on Netflix. I could see the underlying subtleties and symbolisms throughout but needed some of them explained. You did a fine job. Thank you.
I have watched many explanation after seeing the movie but no one explained the "mark" that the paying guest left on tanay's neck. Can someone explain?
Brilliant analysis! You did a great job of explaining the impact and the significance of colour throughout the film. You really did an excellent job of showing me a different layer of the film that I never thought to look for, during my first watch. However, there is something I want to run by you, hoping you could provide some more insight. Throughout the film there are various shots of Tanay's feet; a couple when he's laying down, one where he's dancing and a few more placed across the movie. There was also the foot print that older Tanay used on the cover of his book. Did footprints have any kind of significance? I always interpreted it as the handprint (opposite of the footprint) symbolizes Tanay's lover and the time they had together, as the blue handprint is the first thing his lover marked the apartment with. Whereas the footprint meant Tanay moving on from his lover. I could just be trying to explain something that had absolutely no meaning. But if there was some meaning behind all the emphasis on feet and footprints, then I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, if possible.
Thanks a lot for watching! Glad you liked the efforts. And yes I think the footprint is like a motif for both the characters that portrays their presence in each other's lives. It's like walking together no matter what happens.
I enjoyed your wonderful commentary and film essay. It motivated me to watch this beautifully cinematic, hypnotically sensual and poetic film. Thank you for posting.
Pablo Neruda was one of Tanay's favorite poets. So I guess that's why he named his tortoise Pablo Neruda. Also if you read more about Pablo Neruda's early life, you will notice a lot of similarities between him and Tanay's character in terms of their inclination towards poetry and their early experiences.

this movie didn't even get enough recognition let alone awards.......it's such a criminally underrated masterpiece
In a world where 99% won't put in the effort to understand such a beautiful life of art , I'm glad I found this channel !
That’s a huge compliment!
Thank you so much :)

Unnecessary analysis of colours. Overthinking and exaggerating every scene. This review is a total waste of time.
It’s not a review but an explanation as clearly mentioned in the headline :)
