I think mine is broken… how did you get the grate to open for the water and also the grate for the room with the big red stairs and also the gate for the end boss!??

This level is glitched, even in the remaster (but there's a fan patch which fix it). If you don't do things in a certain order you will be softlocked, I don't remember the order exactly from the top of my head, but you can look on the Stella Tomb Raider guide for this level.
